The College of Digital Photography is a leader in providing high-quality part time photographic education, tailored speci�cally to those of you with digital cameras. Our extensive range of courses will teach you how to capture amazing images as well as how to edit them. We cater for complete novices, serious enthusiasts and aspiring professionals alike.

All our courses are fun, informative and are presented in a relaxed environment. The high practical approach will reinforce what you are taught and will get you photographing as much as possible. Courses run either on a weekday evening from 18h00 - 21h00 or on a weekday / Saturday morning from 09h30 - 12h30.

In addition the College o�ers various photographic outings and workshops which give you the opportunity to capture great photographs under the supervision of one of our experienced professional photographers. More information on these can be found on our website

The main campus and head o�ce is situated in the leafy suburb of Saxonwold, easily accessible from all parts of Johannesburg, at 91 Oxford Road, Saxonwold. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal, making for a comfortable learning experience. Facilities include darkrooms for traditional �lm processing / printing, photographic studios and computer facilities for Photoshop® training. The College also has satellite campuses in Fourways, Roodepoort and Pretoria.

Welcome to the wonderful world of digital photography! If you want to learn how to use your compact digital camera properly and improve your “hit rate” then this course is for you.

You will learn to capture the best photographs you can and we help you come to grips with the functionality of the camera, and the choices that you can make to capture those great memories perfectly. This course has been speci�cally designed for users with compact digital cameras and you’ll be amazed at how quickly your results can improve with a little bit of knowledge! If you are a Scrap booker this course is ideal for improving your photographic skills.

A passion for capturing the world around us is something that many of us share, but often our photographs don’t turn out the way we expect them to.

As advanced as modern cameras are, they will never be able to replace the need for shot speci�c choices that great photographs require. This course teaches you all the basic principles of photography and helps you make the correct choices to immediately improve your results.

The course is presented on one evening or morning a week over 5 consecutive weeks, with an early morning outing on the Sunday before the last class. You are required to complete practical assignments on the course which become an important part of your learning curve. To do the course you need a digital SLR camera and a tripod. A range of digital cameras are available for hire, or if you are unsure what to buy then please feel free to contact us for advice.

People, whether they be friends, family, adults or children are one of the most photographed of all subjects, but they can often be incredibly di�cult to capture properly.

Most of us pick up a camera for the �rst time because of our desire to capture memories of the people in our lives - babies, children, loved ones or even strangers that pass us by. There are a number of easy techniques that we can apply to help us successfully capture their likeness, their personality and their character.

On this course you will learn all you need to know to be able to capture people in their everyday surroundings – indoors or outdoors. Each week you walk away with practical knowledge that you can easily apply to everyday situations. This 3 week course runs for one evening a week with workshops that help you understand and put into practice the techniques learnt. You are required to complete assignments during the course.

We live in a beautiful country and indeed a beautiful world, with many incredible subjects just begging to be photographed.

This “Outdoor Photography” course helps you to create great landscape, wildlife, nature and travel images. You are taught techniques used by professionals as well as some handy “tips and tricks.” These help you plan, prepare and capture your favourite subjects ensuring you have many successful days away.

This course is presented on one evening a week over three consecutive weeks. You are not required to complete any assignments during the course, but rather will have the opportunity in your free time afterwards to complete your assignments. There is a wrap up session a couple of months after completion of the course to view the results of your hard work.

If you are thinking of getting more serious about your photography you may want to explore the wonderful world of studio photography.

Having full control over your lighting is not as easy as it seems and often many hours of practice are necessary to master the studio environment. This course helps you make informed decisions when buying lights and accessories, and teaches you how to set them up and use them in a variety of di�erent situations. You are shown how to position, control and modify the lights and how to compose that winning commercial, still life, portrait or fashion shot.

If you are relatively new to computers or if you have no idea what to do with your digital photographs once you’ve captured them, then this is the perfect course for you.

What happens after the shutter button has been pressed is an essential but often ignored part of the digital imaging work�ow. On this course you will learn the basic process of downloading, safeguarding and editing your great photographs and priceless memories.

For anyone new to digital photography this course is a “must have” introduction to the basic digital work�ow. This includes transferring your photographs onto a computer, storing them in a logical, intuitive manner and showing them o� to their best potential – whether you e-mail them, have them as a screen saver or if you decide to print them. You are also given an exciting introduction into the wonderful world of image editing using Picasa and are taught how to resize your photographs for e-mail.

This “Photoshop® for Photographers” course is designed to give you the basic skills to edit your images with con�dence and get great prints. Boudoir photography can be de�ned as images taken in a bedroom-like setting and mostly of women partly clothed, dressed in beautiful lingerie, night gowns, stockings & suspenders. It is a subtle play on teasing, sensuality and the beauty of women.

This Boudoir Photography Workshop is a full day practical and interactive workshop that will equip you with knowledge, tips and information to delve into this increasingly popular genre of photography. The workshop will include learning about the history of boudoir photography as well as the modern day variations, how to interact and work with your client, and what preparation, props and equipment you may need for a shoot.

Please note that a 50% deposit is required to secure your booking, the balance being due 10 days before the course begins. Payment can be made by transfer, cheque or by credit card via the web site. Once you have sent through an enrolment form you will receive a con�rmation note via e-mail, as well as an invoice with a deposit reference to use for direct deposits or internet transfers.

Deposits are nonrefundable unless the college, for whatever reasons, should cancel or postpone a particular course.

Should you miss a module, we will try to accommodate you on another course (space permitting). If this is not possible, a catch-up session can be made, but please note that there will be an additional charge for this.

Due to the courses being fully booked well in advance, no transfers will be allowed once your place has been con�rmed.

Student numbers are limited for each course, so you are encouraged to sign up early to avoid disappointment.
