Step 1: Installing ENTERPRISE/CS ServerComponents
In this step, you will install ENTERPRISE/CS server components and a
dedicated (new) database server on a Unix computer.
Two separate procedures are provided below; one for installation with a
Sybase database, and one for installation with an Oracle database.
NoteThe steps shown below are for a default installation. For more
information about installation of ENTERPRISE/CS components on
Unix, see Chapters 8 and 9 of theEnterprise Controlstation Installation
Guide.
For Sybase
Step 1 Use the following command to verify that the LSTNR, itnaming , and
itlocator processes are not active on the current computer:
ps -ef |grep
where is the name of the process.
If any of these processes are active, stop them using the kill command.
Step 2 Log on as the root user.
Step 3 Mount the CD-ROM drive. The actual procedure for this varies
depending on your operating system. (For more information, consult
your system administrator. For HP-UX, see Appendix C of theEnterprise

Step 2: Installing CONTROL-M/Agent for Unix
In this step, you will install the CONTROL-M/Agent for Unix on the
same Unix computer that was used in the previous step.
Use the following steps to install the CONTROL-M/Agent:
Step 1 Define a CONTROL-M/Agent User
The procedure for defining a user varies according to the type of Unix
system running on the Agent platform. Procedures for various types of
Unix systems are detailed in Appendix A of the CONTROL-M/Agent
Administrator Guide.
Step 2 Creating an Entry in the Services Map for NISIf NIS is used at your site, request that your NIS administrator create the
following entry for CONTROL-M/Agent in the Services map before
proceeding with the installation.
/ #CONTROL-M/Agent
The elements of this entry are described in Table 5-1, Elements of the
Services Map Entry, on page 5-9.
NoteFor Solaris and AIX platforms only: Whether or not an entry should be
created in the Services map depends on the search path for the services
file. For more information, see Determining the Search Path on page
2-3 of the CONTROL-M/Agent Administrator Guide.
