CLUB PESCT Presentation

RENCP General Assembly July 30, 2015

Presenter: GERARD NSENGIYUMVA

I. WHO ARE WE?

• CLUB PESCT is a National NGO registered at Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) on January 10, 2014. CLUB PESCT is operating in Education sector dealing with Communities in poor areas of Nyamirambo Sector in Nyarugenge District, Kigali city.

• CLUB PESCT is a full member of Rwanda Education NGO Coordination Platform (RENCP).

II. WHAT DO WE DO? Currently, CLUB PESCT is implementing the Community

Mobile Library Project (CMLP) for promoting the reading culture. This project is supported by USAID, EDC L3, EDC Akazi kanoze and ADRA Rwanda by providing books for reading. We are grateful to all these Organizations for their support to CLUB PESCT. As a matter of fact, we received 7,868 books out of which 7,815 books have been distributed since July 2014.

In this project: 2.1. We identify community members especially, children

who have a few or no reading opportunities and provide to them reading books free of charge;

2.2. Our methodology is Mobile! This means that books are brought to readers in their areas and inter-exchanged within communities (Mumena cell, Cyivugiza cell, and Gasharu cell );

2.3. Our partner-readers are children, parents, teachers and local leaders. Current statistics are as follows:1,872 Children, 54 Parents, 21 Teachers and 10 Local leaders.

2.4. In this context, we have already planned for three main projects:

-First anniversary of CMLP (In September 2015 during the reading week);

-Peace One Day Celebration Event (On Sept. 21, 2015); -Capacity building in girls’ sexual education in Rwanda

III :CHALLENGES

• 3.1 Lack of appropriate transport for delivering books from one community to another;

• 3.2: Lack of enough volunteers in CMLP;

• 3.3: Lack of trainings in monitoring and evaluation in CMLP.

IV: PERSPECTIVES

4.1: Increase our partners readers’ number and extending our operating areas;

4.2: CMLP Volunteer mobilization and sensitization;

4.3: Reinforcing our partnership with INGO, UN Organizations and other partners.

PROPOSAL TO G.A RENCP and to RENCP CHAIR

There is a need to establish a coalition of Local NGOs within RENCP to refine and harmonize Local NGOs actions in the Sector and to foster the synergy with International Organizations with the RENCP. To be effective, CLUB PESCT as a National NGO proposes to RENCP G.A. and to RENCP Chair and Co-chair Organization to help us create the Coalition of National NGOs under RENCP to improve the partnership with NINGO, UN Organizations and other partners. We suggest the following denomination: “National Education NGO Coalition (NENCO).”
