Welcome back everyone. We hope you
have all had a fantastic break and are
ready for another busy term.
MINI FETE
Preparations for our mini fete, Saturday
18th October, are well underway. Last
term the children were each given a
letter to take to our local businesses
asking a donation for our raffle. If you
have any issues handing out your letter
please let me know asap so I can follow
this up with the business myself.
This week the children will also be
bringing home a list of items needed for
their stall. Please remember you are
not expected to provide everything on
their list!
If you are able to support their stall in
any way, it would be greatly
appreciated.
Don’t forget to tell family and friends
about the fete! The more the merrier.
MARC VAN
Mrs Severs will be here on Friday
morning– bring books and bags please.

in the next level of the Athletics Carnival
in Bairnsdale.
FRIDAY FANG
There will be no Friday Fang this week.
A new Summer menu will be sent home
with today’s newsletter.
Transition Program
Our first transition program will be held
this Thursday despite the Junior class
being away on camp. It will be a small
group however it provides a lovely
opportunity for the children and I to get to
know one another.
Junior School Camp
Some very excited children this week in
readiness for their camp on Thursday.
Have a great time everyone. It certainly
will be quiet without you all here.
THANK YOU
A big thankyou to Bree, Ashley and Jake
for caring for our chooks over the
holidays. It was nice to be able to go
away and know someone close by was
keeping an eye on things for us. Much
appreciated.
MONEY SPINNER
October is our month at Bairnsdale
Safeway Store— why not drop a coin in
when you finish shopping. Thanks to
Ashley’s grandpa for providing us with a
super CCPS sign.
Garage Sale:
Our school garage sale is on 15th
November. Thank you to all those who
are donating their saleable items for our
garage sale– keep bringing them along.
Active After School Communities
We will start up our AASC again on
Monday 13th October.
‘Dare to Be a Drummer’
Our drumming classes are finished and it
is now time to show everyone our talents!
All school families are invited to join us
in a relaxed evening of drumming,
socialising and pizza. We will also have
the opportunity to enjoy a performance by
professional musician Valanga Khoza.
Please come along and support our very
nervous adult drummers in their first
performance.
SCHOOL COUNCIL
School Council met on 17th September,
and worked through an agenda covering
policy reviews and updates, Emergency
Management planning, camp Coonawarra
and student safety at the WyYung bus
stop. Minutes will be emailed to
councillors. Next meeting : 29th October.
Surprise
I was delighted to be treated to a lovely
surprise birthday party on the last day of
term– thanks to the students and staff who
organised this.
SUNSMART: A reminder that we are a sunsmart school… our revised policy states that high UV levels can be reached in August AND that sunsmart protection is essential from SEPTEMBER to APRIL.
HATS are required for outdoor play.
BUS STOP SAFETY
Parents are reminded that it is essential to
closely supervise their children whilst
waiting for the school bus at Wy Yung.
To assist parents in the safe drop off and
pick up of children from the Wy Yung
bus stop, it has been suggested that a
shared parent phone contact list would be
useful. Please fill in the Consent Slip if
you are happy to share your contact
details with other parents.
Thank you.
DRUM TRAIN
Last term children helped put the
finishing touches on our DRUM
TRAIN—a perfect way of safely storing
and conveniently transporting the
school’s collection of African style
drums.
Guess what we’ve been doing? Cooper:
I stepped on. I had seen videos of this.
My uncle is a pro. I take a breath. I take
off suddenly. I hear people cheering.
Then I crash. But as people say, if you
fall off a horse, then get back on. So I did
get back on and I did three tic tac toes.
Damian:
The waves crashed. I was nervous. I
didn’t want to hit the waves. But it was
time. Then I fell off. I tried and tried.
Finally I did it.
RESOURCESMART
Last week of term, eight of the senior
students travelled to Bellbird Rd where
they completed planting another 100
seedlings as part of the ResourceSmart
program’s Energy Module. Carbon
emitted from our school’s electricity
usage in 2014 has now been offset
through the planting sessions and in the
meantime we will continue to look at
how we can minimise our electricity
usage here at school.
Thank you to Chris & Felicity for
welcoming us onto their property.
