F. James Sensenbrenner, Jr. '68, amember of Congress since January 1979,is Chair of the U.S. House JudiciaryCommittee. Sensenbrenner has beenchair of the committee since 2002.

19708Thomas G. Cannon '71 has beenappointed Executive Director of the LegalAid Society of Milwaukee, Inc. The socie-ty, founded in 1916, is one of the nation'soldest continuously operating publicinterest law firms.

Nathaniel Friends, Sr. '71 has beenappointed Associate Dean for AcademicAffairs at Florida A & M UniversityCollege of Law. Before joining theCollege of Law faculty in 2003, Friendshad a distinguished 29-year career withAT&T as general counsel and contractsvice president for AT&T GovernmentSolutions.

Anne Taylor Wadsack '71 is the newchair of the board of directors of theMadison-based chamber music groupBach Dancing and Dynamite Society.Wadsack is a family-law attorney atDeWitt Ross & Stevens.

Patricia D. Struck '77, Administratorof the Division of Securities with theWisconsin Department of FinancialInstitutions, has begun a one-year termas President of the North AmericanSecurities Administrators Association,the oldest international organizationdevoted to investor protection.

Robert S. Banks, Jr. '82 has beenelected President of the Public InvestorsArbitration Bar Association, a nonprofitinternational bar association dedicatedto the representation of investors indisputes with the securities industry.Banks practices in Portland, Oregon.

John P.Yentz '82 has been namedPresident and Managing Shareholderof the Waukesha County law firm TheSchroeder Group. Yentz has more than20 years of experience in the businessand real-estate areas of law.

Eric Serron '84 has been named apartner at the Washington, D.C., officeof Steptoe & Johnson. Serron worksprimarily in the employee-benefits areaof the litigation section.

Tracey Thomas '93 is Chief IntellectualProperty Counsel at the AmericanExpress Company. An article in theAugust 2005 issue of IP Law & Businessnotes that Thomas won over skepticalcolleagues and launched a patent-licensing program that has generatedmillions of dollars. Corporate Counselalso profiled Thomas (October 2005).

Jeffrey H. Brown '94 has joined theChicago office of Michael Best &Friedrich in the firm's intellectual-property practice.

Shannon A. Allen '95 has becomea shareholder at the Milwaukee firmFriebert, Finerty & St. John. She practicesemployment law and commerciallitigation.

Tamara M. McNulty '95 has beennamed a partner in the Washington,D.C.-based firm of Venable, LLP.A mem-ber of the construction group, McNultyfocuses her practice on complex com-mercial litigation. She is based in thefirm's Tysons Corner, Virginia, office.

Joseph E. Tierney, IV '95 has joined thefirm of Davis & Kuelthau as a shareholder.Tierney will continue to work in the areaof real-estate law, general corporate law,and tax law.

Beth Ermatinger Hanan '96 has beennamed a member of the firm of GassWeber Mullins in Milwaukee. She con-centrates on appellate practice andcomplex litigation. Hanan is also ViceChair of the Wisconsin Judicial Council.

Kristin D. lein '98 has joined theMadison firm of Solheim Billing &Grimmer as an associate practicing inthe areas of estate planning and admin-istration, marital-property law, nonprofitorganizations, real estate, and generalbusiness.

Stephanie A. lyons '98 has been electeda shareholder by the Milwaukee firm ofGodfrey & Kahn. Lyons is a member ofthe firm's real-estate practice group. Herexpertise includes land use and zoningissues in real-estate development.

Mike B. Wittenwyler '98 has beenelected a shareholder of Godfrey & Kahn.Wittenwyler, an administrative and regu-latory attorney, leads the firm's political-law practice group. He traveled to Israelin January 2006 with five UW professors,participating in presentations on U.S.campaign finance (which he teaches atthe Law School), and conferring withofficials about the 2006 Israeli andPalestinian elections.

2000sStacy L. Leeds '00, University of KansasAssociate Professor of Law and Directorof the university's Tribal Law andGovernment Center, has received theClyde Ferguson Award from the MinorityLaw Section of the Association ofAmerican Law Schools, in recognition ofexcellence in public service, teaching,and scholarship. In 2002, Leeds becamethe first woman confirmed to theSupreme Court of the Cherokee Nation.

Erin Binns '01 is Assistant Director ofCareer Planning at Marquette UniversityLaw School.

San Dee I. Priser '02, an accountant inthe Investigative and Dispute Servicesdivision of Ernst & Young in Chicago,spent three months in Fall 2005 workingin EI Salvador with the firm's SocialResponsibility Fellows pilot program.The firm covers employees' salarieswhile they donate their expertise to smallbusinesses in developing countries.

Lori A. Hickman '05 has joined theMadison office of DeWitt Ross & Stevens.Hickman's law practice focuses on familylaw, including adoption and juvenileissues, and on estate planning.

Tom O'Day '05 has joined the law firmof Godfrey & Kahn as a member of thefirm's labor and employment practicegroup. O'Day also holds a master'sdegree in education policy from theUW-Madison, focusing on state andfederal education law.
