He remembered screaming and crying for hours, then collapsing again in exhaustion. That's when Master Zhu found him. Master stood over him in this memory and simply asked. "What is the Pain that distracts you, young one?" Thats the only vivid memory Gnikn holds on to. In that moment, his master was like an angel, and it calmed him to the core. From that point on, It was life and training with Master Zhu, who had told him he was an old monk of an old order dedicated to something called "The Path of Light". He joked about being a "rare frog, bumbling through a strange forest, who finds a rare stone of brilliance" Gnikn never understood his jokes. Master told him his name was scrawled across a toy Master had found; right next to where he found him. Their home was a place called "The Twilight Forest", according to what master had told him. Gnikn just felt like it was a place of odd and extravagant life; dangerous and beautiful all the same. He lived with Master for 25 years, living what he thought was a wonderful life. Until that day came. We stood under the great tree, and Master began to glow with brilliant light. He told Gnikn time in this place was past, and it was time for him to start the journey of discovery that began all those years ago. "You and The Mask have questions. Both of you deserve answers. Go, and find what the universe intends for you both...". He burst into a cloud of beautiful fireflies, and it drifted slowly up into the branches. It always confused Gnikn when master referred to the Mask as something that was...alive, but his master had left and all that he had now...was the Mask... Gnikn vaguely remembers wandering out of his home in a depressing yet meditative state. How he came to Neverwinter, he is not sure, but he feels, the universe wishes for him to start here.Allies & Organizations 1: The Harpers is an old organization that has risen, been shattered, and risen again several times. Its longevity and resilience are largely due to its decentralized, grassroots, secretive nature, and the near-autonomy of many of its members. The Harpers have “cells” and lone operatives throughout Faerûn, although they interact and share information with one another from time to time as needs warrant. The Harpers' ideology is noble, and its members pride themselves on their integrity and incorruptibility. Harpers do not seek power or glory, only fair and equal treatment for all. Harper agents are trained to act alone and depend on their own resources. When they get into scrapes, they don’t count on their fellow Harpers to rescue them. Nevertheless, Harpers are dedicated to helping one another in times of need, and friendships between Harpers are nigh unbreakable. Masterful spies and infiltrators, they use various guises and secret identities to form relationships, cultivate their information networks, and manipulate others into doing what needs to be done. Although most Harpers prefer to operate in the shadows, there are exceptions. One can never have too much information. Too much power leads to corruption.
