Preamble
Pakistan Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) Coalition for Health and Immunization (PCCHI) is a platform of CSOs who are working
for health and immunization across Pakistan. PCCHI was founded in 2012 through the efforts of 15 CSOs who at that time were
working together for health and immunization (with funds from Gavi). The aim of the platform is to organize and strengthen CSOs to
offer wide range of services and outreach for providing access to better health and immunization services. The member CSOs have
established their programmes in different districts for social development integrating immunization through direct and indirect
interventions. The CSOs work vary depending upon their comparative advantage and thematic focus. Nonetheless PCCHI keeps
harmony with Federal, Provincial, District Health and Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) departments to work jointly for
increasing EPI coverage.
CSOs are flexible, adopt innovative approaches and tests different models. CSOs programmes revolve around community
mobilization, research, advocacy, awareness raising, monitoring and service delivery for reaching difficult, neglected and hard to
reach areas. CSOs also work in public private partnership modality with EPI and health department to deliver health and immunization
services. CSOs also support EPI programme by providing partial resources support in terms of arranging transport for the vaccinator,
additional work force, daily substance for the vaccinators, arrangement of vaccination points, etc. CSOs also work in security risk
areas through local staff to ensure vaccination in such areas. CSOs are also viable in addressing refusals due to continued and
consistent efforts, credibility and effective communication strategies. The social mobilization and deep roots in communities are core
of any activity that CSOs undertake.
PCCHI Secretariat thrives towards its expansion, strengthening and recognition. PCCHI has established links with international
agencies to get informed of international moves to explore and identify new areas of learning and expansion for CSOs. At the same
time, the Secretariat focuses on compiling CSOs information in a presentable manner that is useful for donors and other stakeholders.
