PROCLAIM THE RISEN CHRIST On Easter morning everything—the spring weather, the flowers, birds and butterflies, the people around us in their finery, the beautiful liturgy and music—everything seems to bear witness that Jesus Christ is risen today! Like the eyewitness accounts in today’s scriptures, the glorious and joyful life all around us helps us to believe the good news of the Resurrection and sing “Alleluia!” In the scriptures today we hear from Peter and Paul and John. All three speak with conviction about witnessing the resurrected Christ. John’s Gospel account includes Mary of Magdala, who also was privileged to witness the Resurrection and tell others the good news. On this glori-ous Easter Sunday can we ourselves give eyewitness ac-counts that Jesus Christ is risen today, alive and active in our lives? Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Help for the Homeless St. Vincent de Paul

St. Vincent de Paul is collecting small sample-size toiletries, such as the free ones you get in a

hotel, for the homeless we serve in our community. Other items such as toothbrushes, small tubes of toothpaste, and new socks are also welcome. There is a box in the vestibule of the church for your donations. St. Vincent de Paul volun-teers serve between 20 and 25 homeless individuals each month in our parish. With your generous donations, we pro-vide them with cards to purchase fast food and grocery items. Additional assistance you can provide to help us serve them better will be greatly appreciated.

LETTER FROM POPE FRANCIS THE “JOY OF THE GOSPEL” CONTINUED...

The Proclamation of the Gospel—#230

Unity Prevails Over Conflict

The message of peace is not about a negotiat-ed settlement but rather the conviction that the unity brought by the Spirit can harmonize every diversity. It overcomes every conflict by creating a new and promising synthesis. Diversity is a beautiful thing when it can constantly enter into a process of reconcilia-tion and seal a sort of cultural covenant re-sulting in a “reconciled diversity”. As the bishops of the Congo have put it: “Our ethnic diversity is our wealth… It is only in unity, through conversion of hearts and reconcilia-tion, that we will be able to help our country to develop on all levels”.

Fr. Terry’s Remarks— It is very important for us to joyfully recognize and happily ac-cept that when we reach agreements, it has nothing to do with capitulation but every-thing to do with the enrichment for everyone. With greater unity, with richer experiences with more people; we are all the more en-riched, we are all blessed greatly, there is more love and care to go round. As the Bish-ops of the Congo have proclaimed; '' Our eth-nic diversity is our wealth...It is only in unity, through conversion of hearts and reconcilia-tion, that we will be able to help our country to develop on all levels''. Amen, Amen, Amen we say.
