In Memoriam

In Loving Memory of

Fr. John F. Quinn

Born: May 21, 1945

Ordained: May 29, 1971

Pastor of the Church of St. Patrick in Armonk

1994-2013

Entered Eternal Life: January 14, 2016

Eternal Rest Grant unto him O’ Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God,

Rest in Peace. Amen

I want to express my sincerest condolences to all the parishioners of the Church of St. Patrick for the loss of Fr. John Quinn,

affectionately called JQ, who had been your pastor for 19 years. I did not know Fr. Quinn well, I had only met him once

prior to being assigned as pastor here and only got to know him since being assigned as pastor. It is not easy leaving a par-

ish that you love and one that loves you in return, especially after 19 years. Fr. Quinn was very kind to me and left me all

the room I needed to be the new pastor. Also, the welcome I received here as the new pastor, even though my approach to

things may be different than Fr. Quinn’s, is, in my estimation, a tribute to Fr. Quinn’s many years as pastor here, setting a

tone of “welcome”. You know as well as I that change is not easy when it involves losing something or someone that you

love dearly. Fr. Quinn was gracious and kind to me as he had to make the change from being pastor to pastor-emeritus.

You have been very gracious and kind as you had to say good-bye to a pastor you loved so dearly and welcome a new pas-

tor you did not know. In reality you never lost Fr. Quinn. While he was no longer your pastor he remained a priest and

friend to you. Even now at his passing you have not lost him. He is your brother in Christ and in Christ he remains with

you as a priest forever and a friend to you and as such is ever closer to us in the Communion of the Saints. What a wonder-

ful truth of our Catholic Faith, that in Holy Communion we enter into communion not just with the Body, Blood, Soul, and

Divinity of Jesus Christ but also with all our loved ones who have died in Christ and share in the Communion of the Saints

and with each other.

In Jesus and Mary,
