You will need •Glue stick or sticky tape•Scissors•Sticky shiny stars, shapes or glitter to decorateEither:•Coloured paper – why not recycle, maybe your mum or dad have some

magazines that they are finished with. Don’t forget to check with them first! You can often find nice glossy, colourful pages which could be cut into strips.

•Pencil and rulerOr:•Our strips (see below)•Felt pens or paints

How to make the paper chainIf you are making your own strips you will need to draw lines on the paper to mark them so that they are all the same size (about 3cm x 21cm). If you are using our strips you will need to print out as many pages as necessary to complete your chain. You may need to ask an adult for help.Decorate one side of the strips using whatever materials you have. Ask an adult for help to cut out the strips. You are now ready to start joining the strips together!

Bring the ends of the first strip together and use a glue stick or a piece of sticky tape to stick it together. Loop the next strip of paper through the first loop and bring the ends together and stick. Continue until the chain is the right length for where you would like to hang it.

Once you have made your paper chain or paper chains ask an adult to help you put them up using drawing pins or sticky tac.
