Living as God’s heir requires living by faith in God’s goodness and promise. In Numbers 13, we read how Moses sent spies into the land of Canaan— the territory God had promised to the Israelites—to do surveillance. A man from each tribe of Israel was chosen and sent to spy out the land (vs 2). When the men returned, the spies reported conflicting stories of their findings (verses 30–33). “But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, "Let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are well able to overcome it." Then the men who had gone up with him said, "We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we are.” Numbers 13:30-31 ESV The members of the community grumbled and rebelled against Moses and Aaron after

hearing the negative reports. What the Israelites overlooked was that God had not told

them to take the land by force—but to receive it as a gift. God had clearly said that he was

“giving [the land] to the Israelites” (verse 2).

God judged his people’s unbelief with forty years of wandering in the wilderness

(Numbers 14:29–35). The unbelieving generation died. God ultimately chose Joshua, one

of the two believing spies, to replace Moses and lead the people into their inheritance—the

Promised Land (Joshua 1:1–3).

Joshua took God at his word that the Lord was giving the land to the Israelites, even

though he and the people faced raging rivers, walled cities, and fierce enemies. We enter

our inheritance through faith in God’s solid promise that we are co-heirs with Christ.

At times we feel rejected, unworthy, and deficient, but we have this unshakable promise

from God that he has endless resources available to us.

1. God has endless love for us. (1 John 3:1)

2. God has endless hope for us. (Hebrews 10:23).

3. God has endless grace for us. (Ephesians 2:8).

4. God has endless wisdom for us. (James 1:5).

Jesus is the Son of God! He lived on this earth with all the resources of heaven available

to him. The Bible says we are like him in this world. We are His Children! We, too, are

children of God and co-heirs with Christ. For this reason, we do not need to live with timid

imaginations and small faith! Like Joshua, we can choose to be strong and courageous in

entering into our inheritance.

Blessings, Chris

SEPTEMBER 23, 2018 ATTENDANCE

SUNDAY SCHOOL ~ 48 WORSHIP SERVICE: 8:00 A.M. ~ 61 10:30 A.M. ~ 124 FINANCIAL REPORT THIS WEEK

GENERAL $3572 | TO DATE: $16363 NEW BUILDING $90 | TO DATE: $2130

Our FCC New Building Fund (NBF): It’s been a while since I reported what’s happening

with our NBF. You may recall we spent over $1,265,000 on our new building which was

basically completed in June 2017. We entered 2018 still owing only about $98,000, which

was and still is amazing. So far, this year, we have spent about $8,800 more on the new

building (mostly on audio/visual improvements), and we have managed to pay $57,500

toward loan retirement leaving us with an unpaid balance of $41,250 at this time. We

continue to regularly pay $500 per month toward loan retirement. We have been soooo

blessed with members who love the Lord and FCC, generously giving and designating to

NBF a part of their monthly gift to FCC, and also with several Memorial Funds which have

been designated to the NBF. Right now, our NBF operating fund has a balance of $12,000

with very little in expenditures in sight, so it is probable the General Board will soon approve

paying down the loan balance even further. Meanwhile, your gifts to the NBF are still needed

to help finish paying off the loan, and to help us grow toward the future. May the Lord

continue to bless each of you and FCC. Thank you, Burke Rogers, Treasurer

Christian Crafters

The ladies at Christian Crafters are busy getting

ready for their Christmas Craft Sale. This year the

sale will be held on December 1st in the new

addition of the Church. We work hard making many

handmade items and sell them, then donate the

profits back to the church or other charitable

organizations.

The Sale has been at Parkside in the past, but this

year we are partnering with the Mission Team for an

event to please all your senses.

The Crafters will have their items to sell, and the

Mission Team will be making homemade soup and

baked goods for you to eat there or take home that

day.

We will also be selling chances to win one of our two

newest quilts finished. Proceeds from the ticket

sales will go toward paying off the construction

costs for the addition on the church. There is a

patriotic theme lap quilt and a Queen/king size quilt

as well. The large quilt is 96 x 110 inches in size.

These will be on display in the new entry of the

church soon, and you can get tickets from any of

the Crafters. Contact Connie Meyer at 913-909-

7164 if you are interested in purchasing tickets for

the quilts or if you would like to join the crafters.

They meet in the Annex on Thursday’s from 10:00

a.m. until noon weekly. Queen/King quilt, 96 x 110 inches
