Sin!!!!!!!!!!!!
What’s the big deal?????
What is sin???• To miss the mark
• Not hitting the target
• To miss God and His plan for our lives
Tell me some sins?
Murder…………
Name some big time sinners
Hitler………….
Who else is a big time sinner
You are!!!!!!!!!!
Crystal vs Hitler
What about…….• Not reading your Bible• Not praying• Not attending church regularly• Disobeying your parents• Sex before marriage• Cheating at school• Not telling others about Christ
How does sin affect us?• Sin damages our relationship with God. Genesis 3:
4 - 10• Sin limits our relationship with others
• Loss of direction• Foul language• Amnesia of origin
Lack of peace and joy• Selfish, or violent behavior• Depression or confusion • Fearfulness and/or dishonesty• Idolatry
worldliness• "Do not love the world or the things in
the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever." (1 John 2:15-17 New King James Version)
What in the world is worldliness?????The earth “God who made the world and everything in it….”
People “For God so loved the world….”
System “ Do not love the world…..”
How does the world affect
me?You have a body, a mind and a
will.
And when you were saved the Spirit of God moved into your
life.
How does the world affect me?
How does the world affect me?
• All day long, the things in the world are trying to make us conform to it by attacking our mind, our will and our body.
• But remember worldliness is related to our love and obedience to the God. “If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him… The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever." (1 John 2:15 & 17)
• Anything that keeps me from enjoying God's loveand wanting to do God's will is worldly and I'd better avoid it.
So What is the target?
Does that mean god requires us to be holy, Perfect?
• 1 Peter 1: 16 “ Be holy as I am holy”.
• Matt 5:48 “Be perfect as my Father in heaven is perfect”
Here we go……….• God has a standard for righteousness……. Our
target, our goal, our mark.• The mark is holiness and perfection.• When we miss the mark, it is SIN!• The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
