CHORAL SEASON 2016 / 2017
Dear friends and choral lovers,
Since 1988 we have been trying to bring you the very best of choral music traditions, no-velties and opportunities. Our efforts have been an ongoing investment to foster unity, inspire change and bring a new viewpoint on the choral world. The 2016 and 2017 choral years will be packed with everything that de-lights your mind and soul.
Starting off with the brand new ON STAGE series, 2016 will lay ahead opportunities for new top destinations, genre experimentati-on and some fun away from the competiti-on schedule. Top world attractions like Paris, Prag, Barcelona and the like will shed a whole new light on the idea of choral singing. No categories, no jury, no competitive air – this time we sing for the people, for the joy of sin-ging, the joy of life.
Competitions bear, however, our quality seal and a big part of our efforts goes to further improve and extend the network for those wishing to reach us. In 2016 we are setting foot in two great American destinations, Pro-vo/Salt Lake City, Utah, and Monterey, Cali-fornia, and to a new Asian exotic spot, Chiang Mai, Thailand. We cannot wait to experience again that beautiful wave of enthusiasm and support we witnessed in Cincinnati and are eager to explore the mystic land of Thailand. I bet, you too!
But our path to success is paved also with the traditions we have strived to build and per-fect with each passing year. The bell of the
A CHORAL SEASON FULL OF PREMIERES AND TRADITIONS
World Choir Games tolls every two years to remind us of such a powerful tradition. Follo-wing Riga’s spectacular Games, choirs from all corners of the world look forward to ano-ther huge gathering of international choral excellence in 2016 in Sochi, Russia.
What better way to unite the world than through music? AND through friends we make along the way. Since the very begin-ning of INTERKULTUR activities, two choirs, the Gesangverein „Harmonie“ 1906 Watzen-born-Steinberg e.V. and the Gesangverein Sängerkranz 1876 Watzenborn-Steinberg e.V. , just a few steps from our office, have been part of our events. In June, they to-gether celebrate 250 years of choral tradi-tion in the Pohlheim Choir Festival and we are proud to share a part of this celebration with you. Join the Party and meet the INTER-KULTUR Team on their summer party bevor heading to Sochi for the magic of the World Choir Games.
An exciting choral season awaits. Let’s all make beautiful memories out of it!

COMMITTED TO QUALITY AND INNOVATION
The preview of our INTERKULTUR events gi-ves you a good insight into the variety of pro-jects which will be presented to the choirs, singers and choral conductors all over the world in the upcoming months. Our choral season focuses mostly on choir competitions and festivals, which take pla-ce in traditional venues, such as Vienna, Bad Ischl, Grado, Calella, as well as in the US, now under a new concept and in four different ci-ties (Provo, Monterey, Princeton and Miami), and for the first time in Thailand. In particu-lar, we look forward to a Grand Prix event at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall and to the 3rd European Choir Games & Grand Prix of Na-tions 2017 in Riga, the city that was already a sensational host to the 8th World Choir Ga-mes.INTERKULTUR has evolved tremendously in the last years. Our invitation goes to all choirs in the world, regardless of the artistic level they have, to make use of the indivi-dually tailored program we are going to of-fer. We can proudly say that the level of the choirs has greatly improved in every aspect, making our events a top destination for the best choirs of the world. Our events are a warm welcome of their talent and a tough challenge for their competitive spirits with intense performances and busy schedules. And this is how it should go on. This year our program has become even more diverse.
Whether it is the “ON STAGE” events, the World Choir Games, workshops, singing to-gether or sing along concerts, all the possi-bilities of making music and learning from each other have gotten a high priority. We look forward to working with this year‘s “composer in residence”, the English com-poser John Rutter in Sochi. You, dear interested choirs, can decide on your own on the dimensions of your parti-cipation. Make your program according to your own interests or combine the various possibilities our events offer. Our professio-nal staff will help you to find your place in the INTERKULTUR family. We are aware that our INTERKULTUR events may not have any direct impact on political developments. Nevertheless, we are deeply convinced that the reciprocal knowledge and mutual understanding are key drivers for a peaceful merger of nations. You can-not make music against each other; you can make music only for each other. “Singing together brings nations together” has been our slogan from the very beginning and we want people to feel it in their hearts and minds. The quality of our events revolves around this central idea and it is to it that we have devoted our many years of experi-ence and enthusiasm for the choral music.
