Tips for Your Wedding Day
Makeup and Beauty
For your wedding, professional
makeup is a must! You' l l look
stunning on camera with an
even skin tone and capt ivat ing
eyes. Most br ides opt for false
lashes too. Nothing to dramatic,
just a small enhancement to
make your eyes pop. The
results are always amazing!
Br ides should watch their eye
makeup. Too dark may look
styl ish but less tends to open
the eyes better. F ind a good
makeup art ist who works with
models, not the retai l outlet
people. Get your eyebrows
done a week before the
wedding; i t wi l l make a world of
Before the wedding day you
might want to look at your
has t ime have him get a mani-
cure or clean them up himself.
This way when a photo of your
hands is taken with your r ings
on i t wi l l be a great portra i t .
Getting Ready
Brides: Be sure the room you are
gett ing dressed in is large with lots
of natural sun l ight ! This makes for
the best “gett ing ready” images!
If you are having photos done
before the wedding in a dressing
room, free i t f rom clutter. The
things you need to get ready with
excess “ junk” that you don't neces-
sar i ly want in your photos. Such as
food, wrappers, dir ty clothes and
undies . . .you get the idea. ; )
Your Dress
Have a dress rehearsal with
your dress . Too many t imes we
see br ides having a hard t ime
walking, s i t t ing, kneel ing and
moving in their dress . I t 's a long
day and you want to feel good
help you look better in your
pictures . Also, pract ice bustl ing
up your dress . Precious t ime is
often lost whi le your br idal
bustle your gown. At least two
people should be well versed
on how to t ie and/or button
your dress so that you can
move from your ceremony to
your recept ion with ease!
Have someone properly learn
to lace your dress, including
knot ty ing, i f i t is that style you
have chosen to wear.
Please have extra caut ion when
gett ing in and out of t ravel
vehicles . Grease and dirt f rom
t i res and doors can get on your
dress and you want to look your
best going down the aisle . Ask
i f l imo services wipe around the
area of enter ing and exit ing the
vehicle (not just the t i re area) .
This is a touchy subject , especial ly
i f your photographer is male. I f you
are self conscious or modest, you
may ask your photographer to
leave the room whenever you ask.
However some of the best images
from the ent i re wedding happen in
the dressing room, especial ly when
the dress is going over the br ide’s
head whi le al l the br idesmaids are
helping to get i t on.
I f you have your photographer wait
outs ide when this is happening, you
wi l l miss out on one of the most
spontaneous photo opportunit ies of
the ent i re day. Remember, with
photography, i t ’s easy to delete
things later , but i t ’s impossible to
turn back t ime and do i t again .
Under professional photography
ethics, a wedding photographer
would never show inappropr iate
photos in his/her portfol io, or on
the web. I f you are concerned
about th is issue, be sure to review
and discuss the contractual
obl igat ion and portfol io usage
r ights with your photographer. Also
pay keen attent ion to your intui t ion,
and trust your inst incts .

you wi l l look better and have
more fun. Also, remember to
dr ink plenty of water.
Flowers
Some br ides choose to go with

ers doesn’t run when wet . Not
nice to have on your beaut i ful
white wedding dress .
Designate someone to pick up
know your order. You don’t want
behind.
I t is n ice to have extra pins/-
or pins/magnets get lost .
Keep bouquets in water as long
as possible . Store boutonnières
in a cool spot as well .
Carry bouquets at your waist .
Boutonnières are pinned on the
left lapel (over your heart . )

on i t wi l l be a great portra i t .
Tuxes
For the guys: Be sure to check your
tuxes before you leave the tux
shop to make sure they are the
tears, sta ins or loose buttons and
that you have al l the pieces to each
of the tuxes.
Inform the groom and groomsmen
that boutonnieres are worn on the
left lapel . A boutonniere and a
pocket square can both be worn i f
tasteful ly done.
If wear ing a pocket square, ask to
be shown how to properly fold
them. Most t imes they come just
folded in a square in their package.
Tricks
Would you l ike to look sl im and to
the best in your wedding photos?
Then always stand sl ightly s ide-
ways to the camera, with weight on
your back foot and your chin sl ight-
ly up and your shoulders back.
Always remember that you ARE the
prett iest br ide in the world!
each other before the day of
the wedding; the images relay
a warmer, happier event .
When the photographer comes
to shoot for your wedding, now
is not the t ime to be modest
and not want your picture
taken. Instruct your wedding
party and family members of
the same thing. I usual ly end
up with ( too many) photos of
the s ide or back of someone's
head as they turn quickly when
they real ize their photo is going
to be taken.
The smallest adjustments in pos-

angle from the camera. L i f t your

back leg
• Lean in a l i t t le with your chest

ing.
Ham it up! I f you feel s i l ly. . . you're
having fun and your pictures wi l l be
a mil l ion t imes more interest ing.
Work that day l ike i t 's a red-carpet
premiere and you are the star.
Avoid posing pictures when i t isn' t
necessary. I t a lways makes for a
better picture to capture a genuine
moment rather than faking one.
Brides: Don't be afra id to laugh
when the cameras are around.
Memories wi l l be enchant ing when
our cameras can capture your joy
and emotions. Make your pictures
excit ing!
Have fun! You wi l l be looking back
at your photos for years to come!
Be spunky, outrageous and out-
wardly emotional . Al low your pho-
tographer to capture those emo-
t ions, you WILL treasure them.
takes some t ime to get to know
When kiss ing your br ide or
groom, do so slowly and hold i t
for a few seconds. Some of the
most romant ic photos are the
inch r ight before the k iss .
When kiss ing, don't t i l t the
seen. Hold your head stra ight
up and make your noses s ide
by s ide. This way both of you
wi l l be seen in the photo.
Some couples don't l ike show-
one day be an except ion. The
photos wi l l tel l you for years to
come why you fel l in love and
marr ied this special person.
Ceremony
Please remember to walk slowly
down the aisle and to look up.
Br idesmaids should smile and
enjoy the few seconds they walk .
Remember to keep eyes open.
Br ides should look lovingly at their
Dad (or other walking them down)
and to look super happy to see
their handsome groom at the end
of the aisle . Grooms should look
lovely and not be afra id to show
emotion on their face when they
When the br ide’s father gives them
away, please give a hug or a k iss
and the groom should shake his
hand. NO BUBBLEGUM!! !
Remember that throughout the
ceremony you are being photo-
graphed. Hold hands, embrace,
looking lovingly at each other to
create awesome photographs with
emotion.
Your k iss dur ing the ceremony
should be slow and meaningful .
Easier to capture than a quick
peck.
You wil l st i l l be photographed whi le
everyone s igns their names on the
document . Stand close to your
partner. I t is best to stand behind
and within close range whi le the
Best Man and MOH sign as well .
Remember you wi l l be in the pho-
tograph as well even though you
are in the background.
during the s igning. I photo-
graph as you s ign as these
provide a more natural looking
photo than the “posed look at
camera” photo. Have witnesses
stand close so they can be in
the photos whi le s igning. Br ide
and groom should stand close
to witnesses as they s ign
because they wi l l be in photos
as well (please refra in from
scratching your face. )
Weather
Your wedding day is one of the
most special days of your l i fe ;
don't let the weather get you
down. Br ight sunny skies are
not always a good thing, but a
cloudy day or after a storm the
sky wi l l provide a very dramatic
look. Dramatic skies and the
use of umbrel las can make for
wonderful photographs.
Family Photos
Make sure al l members know
when and where. Have one
person dedicated to rounding
family members on each s ide
as your photographer doesn’t
Putting on Rings
shots to get for a wedding photog -
rapher. Most couples are not aware
of the fact that they are blocking i t
e i ther with their hand posit ions or
with their bodies . To turn this
moment into a great photo oppor-
tunity, al l you need to
remember is that you are putt ing
the top and bottom instead of on
the s ides of the r ing.
One more t ip is to avoid extending
your free hand out to grab your
partner ’s wr ist so that you can push
that r ing on better. I f you feel i t
necessary to do this , t ry putt ing
your hand UNDER your partner ’s
hand and grabbing from below.
This approach prevents your wrist
f rom blocking the shot . Pract ice a
couple of t imes, and you wi l l see
that i t is possible to put the r ings
on whi le keeping your r ing v is ible
from your guests’ v iew, and photo
capture.
Signing of the Registrar
Please stand beside each other
Be sure to have PLENTY of
l ighters . The neat l i t t le match
books are great mementos, but
are horr ible for l ight ing the
sparklers . By being able to
al low everybody to l ight theirs
at the same t ime, you wil l help
ensure a wonderful photo as
you make your exi t .
Dances
During the formal dances l ike
daughter dance, you should
ignore the photographer com-
pletely. However, late in the
evening when your photogra-
pher comes around to shoot
the fun dancing shots, i t would
be wonderful i f you and your
wedding party would occasion-
al ly turn and dance facing a
l i t t le bi t towards the camera.
With this in mind, your dancing
photos would look more
natural .
know al l your family members . To
have the best family photos, you
should have fun with family
members embracing, snuggl ing
into one another, and shar ing
laughs.
Wedding Photos
Choose several locat ions for your
wedding day to have photos taken.
One locat ion for family photos and
the rest wedding party photos. This
al leviates fol lowers that may
disrupt the photographer dur ing
photos.members . To have the best
family photos, you should have fun
with family members embracing,
snuggl ing into one another, and
shar ing laughs.
Wedding Reception Advice
Most br ides choose a recept ion
-
r ia . Some t ips for recept ion areas
are to note what the cei l ing look
l ike . I t 's probably the one area that
most people forget about . A s imple
of addit ion of l i t globes, l ights, and
of elegance or disaster. You might
think that the gaudy random chan-
del ier looks nice in person, but is
somewhat of an eyesore in photo -
graphs. The other mostly forgotten
cr i ter ia is l ight ing. Some up l ight ing
on walls can transform an ordinary
bal l room into an enchant ing fanta-
sy.
Sparklers are incredible for the
get-a-way at the end of the night .
Bouquet Toss
Don’t rush through this
part . . . take a minute to play with
your crowd. This gives your
photographer t ime to get a shot
looking back over your shoul-
der at al l the gang l ined up.
Before you throw, try chasing
they often beat your br ides -
-
ers . Now look up and make
sure you don’t have anything
low l ike l ights and cei l ing fans
that are going to intercept your
crowd.
Videographers
Videographers and photogra-
phers are l ike cats and dogs;
we often don’t play well
spots . Some inexper ienced
videographers wi l l occasional ly
get r ight up the middle of the
altar area dur ing the ceremony.
I f you don’t want their backside
to show up in al l your photos,
please tel l them to stay at least
15 feet away dur ing the
ceremony.
Sometimes they wi l l watch to see
what the photographer is shoot ing
and i f they l ike i t , they wi l l step in
front of them to get their own shot .
Make sure to tel l them to watch for
where the wedding photographer is
so they don’t get in each other ’s
way. I t is probably best to specify
very clearly as to which one has
the highest pr ior i ty.
Most of th is is avoidable by hir ing a
professional v ideographer. Also,
professional v ideographers have
hidden microphones that can
attach to yourselves to capture
your voices dur ing the ceremony.
Final Thoughts
Above al l , remember that th is day
is about the person you're commit-
t ing to spend the rest of your l i fe
cake, the br idesmaids, and the
event . I t 's about your love and
relat ionship with that special
person who won your heart .
Do what YOU want to do for your
wedding! Never do anything
because someone else wants you
to .
Stop and look around every few
minutes at your wedding. Take i t al l
in . I t goes by so fast .
