News in Brief Gymnastics Festival—The fol- lowing children took part in the gymnastics festival that was held at St James before the Easter break. The children worked real- ly hard to learn their routines which they all performed beautifully. Congrat- ulations to Ava, Evie, Eva, So- phie, Alex, Leo and Arjun. Parent Governor Vacancy We currently have a vacancy for a parent governor. Each parent has the right to stand as a candidate. If you wish to stand as a candidate please let us know in writing by no later than 12 noon on Friday 3rd May 2019; your full name, address and telephone number, and the full name and class of your child at the school. Please send nomi- nations and personal statements by email to [email protected]. Medication in school—we are only able to administer prescribed medicine from your GP. We are unable to give over the counter medicines e.g hayfever tablets, creams, eye drops etc. These must be given to children before they come to school. After School Clubs—just to remind you that all after school clubs resume next week, week commencing Monday 29th April. Congratulations to the following children who attend the Jardine Karate club after school on a Friday. They recently passed their next Karate Grading—Theo, Ruby, Noah, Arthur, Aadil, Noah R, Tom, Kaysan and Ronnie. Congratulations to Jessica (5B) who took part in the 10k steps a day for cancer research throughout March, and in total she walked 327,184 steps - hitting her daily steps target, she has also raised £345.00 and also to Anna (3H) who was awarded Twickenham RFC Under 8’s Coaches Player of the Season. Alumni newscongratulations to Matthew (ex Chase Bridge student) who has been offered a place at the Prestigious Brits School to study film and media production alongside his GCSEs. SMSA Vacancy at St. Edmund’s Catholic Primary School—St Edmund’s are currently recruiting for a School Meals Supervisory Assistant. The post is for 1½ hours every day, Monday – Friday from 11.55am to 1.25pm. The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Friday 10th May. Easter seems some time ago now, but our last assemblies before we broke up were an opportunity for our Easter bonnet parade for the infants and the egg competition for juniors – we had some wonderfully wild and creative designs. Well done to everyone that took part! And now we look forward to the summer term … please look at the Times, Dates, Places section for key information about events this term and get them in the diary. And of course all the year groups will be starting on a new topic theme in their work so please look at these on our website – the children get very excited and it really helps for you to share that enthusiasm with them at home. Springing into action!

Over the past weeks all the children have been busy sowing their seeds in anticipation of filling their class planters. The

greenhouse is filled with lettuce, peas, coriander, beans, tomatoes, calendula, nasturtiums – we are looking forward to a bumper

summer crop! We also have our Grandparent Gardening Day on Friday 3rd May; details have been sent out by

Parentmail. We are looking forward to welcoming our grandparent community to Chase Bridge.
