Game Outline• The three cards I picked where Life, Literature and Strength

• After standing for thousands of year’s Yggdrasil, the world tree, has been near destroyed by a powerful, unknown entity. The fate of the world rest’s on the ancient Lore Keeper who must scour the connected worlds to find the pieces of the core of Yggdrasil. Aided only by his ethereal, Fantasy companions and his wavering abilities in the arcane.

• The main protagonist of the game is the Lore keeper, An ancient bear creature that lives at the base of the world tree on the green planes. Part of an old race of creatures, dedicated to protecting the world tree. Upon its destruction, his power begins to wane and he must seek help from his vast library of fantasy stories, myths and legends.

• The other 2 characters tie into the mechanics of the game. With the Lore Keeper losing his powers when the world tree is destroyed. He uses his knowledge of summoning to call upon characters from his favourite novels and Fantasy stories to aid him. The first being Red riding Hood and The seconds being a twisted Alice from lewis Carroll’s novels.

Written Statement

• For this project I am going to be creating the worlds and characters for 2½D Action platformer. The Characters will be fully painted and include Turnarounds, expression sheets and Prop design sheets. The environments will be a key part of the overall design as the levels are what make a Platformer. So I will be looking into 2-3 different locations, which relate to the worlds the tree is linked to for their designs. Lastly I will be creating a separate prop sheet for the different objects and items that can be interacted with throughout the game. Like Alice’s strange plants, or the fragments of the world tree core.

Character’s and Game Mechanics

• The main mechanic of my game is the Lore Keepers ability to summon different people and creatures from Fantasy, Myths and Legends. However each character has there own strengths and weaknesses. The strengths can be used to get through different parts of the stage whilst the Weaknesses prevent the player from doing certain things, or cause certain things to happen to the character that has been summoned.

LORE KEEPER

The lore Keeper is the main protagonist

of the game. Part of an ancient race

bred to protect the world tree for

thousands of years. This creature has

access to long forgotten arcane powers.

After the tree is destroyed these powers

have vanished. Leaving him to rely on the

ability to summon creatures from

different planes of reality.

The design of this guy went from being

big and ferocious, to some one who is

more stern, old yet peaceful looking. The

design is still being worked on but I am

close to a design I really like.

Red Riding Hood

• Red riding hood is the Little girl she always has been. Except her time inside the wolfs stomach caused her to retreat into herself. Her long hair now covers her eyes and her only pride is the red cloak she keeps wrapped around her neck and the weapon of the huntsman that saved her all those years ago.

• Red Riding hood is a slow combatant thanks to her height, making her almost useless in battle, but her Cloak grants her the ability to glide over distances and blind enemies for an attack. Her weakness is her deep fear of any woodland animal, especially wolves. The sight of one causes her to retreat into herself, becoming virtually unusable for a short time.

Alice in Wonderland

• I am still working on a design for Alice however I have an idea of what I want her to look like in the end. This Alice is not like the Alice that we know from Lewis Carroll’s novels. Upon falling down the rabbit hole and returning, Alice’s mind and body was twisted into that of Wonderland. Clock work gears and metal jut out of her skin and her eyes are wild and crazy.

• Her time in wonderland left her with the ability to summon monster’s and friends from Wonderland to aid her in her battle, however it also made her addicted to weird plants and potions. Causing her incessant need to drink and eat whatever she comes across, resulting in disastrous effects.
