Kitchen Tune-UpQampAs with Owner Markus Reidler

What is your business What product and services do you offer Our business is Kitchen Tune-up We specialize in cabinet refacingre-dooring cabinet accessorizing as well as wood cabinet reconditioning We offer custom cabinetry and kitchen design capability as well

What makes your company unique or different from your competition We take a very personal ap-proach with our customers We offer completely custom services at a very affordable price It is a very different feel from a box store or larger company Our pricing is more than competitive and our workmanship is excellent Customers do not have to wade through layers of contractors as everything is handled by our company

How are you moving your company forward What are you doing to improve your business We have been open for less than one year so we are just now in the process of hiring several technicians to cover our increased volume of work We are also slowly expanding our advertising to extend out past the Cumberland County area

What inspired you to establish your business or how did your business get started I was not getting the satisfaction I felt I wanted through my corporate job as a financial and operational controller It was time to make a change

What makes you most proud of your company It is a franchise company and the system set up by the franchise allows for the franchisees to be very flexible with our services We can cover all sizes of jobshellipnone too largehellipnone too small At the same time the company has a very small business comfortable feel for both myself and customers I enjoy the personal contact with everyone I meet

If you could give an aspiring entrepreneur one piece of advice what would it be Plan Plan Plan Do your proper diligence examine everything especially the worst case senarios When you feel it is time to take the plunge the risk (that you must take) will at least be mitigated and feel a bit less stressful

What marketing tactics have most helped your business succeed Our most successful marketing comes in the form of home shows This is an industry in which people have made a decision to have work done Having direct contact with people is the best way to educate them on your company and your product

What is the most challenging part of your job The most challenging part of my job is when some doubt creeps in about decisions There is no one to fall back on but yourself The Plan Plan Plan part is a good fall back point If you have a good plan you will succeed Failure to plan is planning to fail

What is the best part of your job Seeing the look on a customerrsquos face when a job is complete and it exceeds their expectations

Why did you become a member of the Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce As a new business I became a chamber member so I could surround myself with other successful small business owners There is always so much to learn from anyone who has gone through the initial growing stages and beyond

What is your favorite Mechanicsburg Chamber event Jubilee Day

Tell us something about yourself that others may not know I spent 20 years in the military and retired 11 years ago to start my second life Now I am on my third life

STAY HEALTHY THIS COLD AND FLU SEASON Doctors Offer Advice On Avoiding The Bug

Harrisburg PA ndash You hear the coughing sneezing and sniffling all around you Cold season is in full swing the flu is right around the corner and you have too much going on to get sick You can reduce your risk by taking a few simple steps to stay healthy and not spread germs among family and friends

Wash your hands Wash your hands frequently especially after being in public and after the kids come home from school Soap and warm water kill a lot of the germs that you pick up as part of daily life

Drink plenty of fluids Fluids keep you hydrated and help clear toxins from your body

Exercise and nutrition Regular exercise increases your blood flow and your immunity A healthy diet that includes vegetables and fruits builds up your immune system

Rest Take a little time now to rejuvenate your body or your body will force you to take a much longer ldquotime outrdquo when you get sick

What if you do start feeling sick despite your best efforts How can you tell if it is a cold or the flu Cold symptoms can make you feel bad for a few days while the flu lasts longer and can lead to more serious health problems

A cold can start with a sore throat followed by runny nose and nasal congestions Adults usually donrsquot have a fever with a cold Influenza symptoms usually come on quickly and include fever headache muscle aches and cough

Patient First doctors are available to discuss symptoms and treatments Contact Dara Rees at 717-819-3320 for interviews

Autobodies by Lucas installs state-of-the-art rainwater collection system

Select Collision Grouprsquos Autobodies by Lucas facility recently received a complete renovation and retooling in 2012 The goal of the rebuild was not only to improve the physical appearance and usability but also make the revitalized building a sustainable and efficient addition to the Mechanicsburg business community

One such improvement was the addition of a rainwater collection storage and redistribution system The system was de-signed to collect roof water runoff and direct it to two underground tanks located under the parking area Tank water is then used inside the building for non-potable water applications Sensors inside the tanks monitor water levels and automatically switch to city supplies during dry periods Once the tanks fill backup with rainwater the sensor automatically switches back to collected rainwater This system helps address two important issues Rainwater runoff creates a significant collection is-sue for city systems during heavy rainfall and this system will help reduce the amount of rainwater entering that system It also helps significantly reduce the amount of city-produced water for daily operation of the business

Select Collision Group and Autobodies by Lucas is proud to offer this environmentally respectful addition to our Mechan-icsburg business community Stop in and get a tour anytime We love to give visitors a tour of our new home
