Your Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce is happy to see members of our organization getting ready to open and currently open with guidelines in place. Some are open at 50% capacity, drive up options or curbside pickup. A list of businesses hours and services is

easy to access on our website at www.ankeny.org/business-updates.

There is no doubt the business community in Ankeny is strong, resilient and flexible. It is amazing to see many businesses change and adapt on short notice with great success. As the State of Iowa guidelines are updated please support your local business and be patient and flexible. Many businesses owners are adapting by the hour and eager to serve you in a safe and effective manner.

The Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce made the difficult decision to postpone 2020 Ankeny SummerFest for the health and safety of the community. I am happy to announce the Ankeny SummerFest fireworks will be displayed on Saturday, July 11 at 9 PM. The Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce urges you to enjoy these fireworks from the safety of your vehicle or the comfort of your home. Watch the Ankeny Chamber of Commerce website and Ankeny SummerFest Facebook page for additional activities that will be offered during the month of July as we celebrate Ankeny! If you are currently working with one of the wonderful volunteers of the Ankeny Area Chamber, reach out to them and ask what opportunities they have for you.

During these times of change I want to take the opportunity to thank the many volunteers who continue to serve the organization with heart and passion. The Board of Directors is professional leaders working at a business while serving the Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce. This group of professionals meets regularly to set policy and guidelines for the organization. They are working hard to offer an Ankeny SummerFest Series to the community. Thank you Board of Directors!

The Ankeny2Gether committee has also been working hard to support businesses during this pandemic. The committee raised over $11,000 through Ankeny2Gether t-shirt sales and private donations. Over 14 businesses have received grants from Ankeny2Gether. Thank you to the many people who have supported Ankeny2Gether through purchasing a shirt or giving a donation.

The future is bright for the Ankeny business community. We are fortunate to be among a community that is supportive through pandemic times and good times.

Due to Governor Reynold’s order to close public spaces during

the COVID-19 crisis in Iowa, the Chamber set up a webpage to update the Ankeny area

community on local business hours and operation strategies. Click here

to submit your business listing or view current business updates.

A group of Chamber members and small businesses owners created an initiative to support small businesses during the COVID-19 crisis.

The #ANKENY2GETHER movement is designed to help local businesses and their employees during the pandemic. T-shirts are available for purchase with 100% of the profits going directly to help businesses in need through a grant program set up by the Chamber.

The committee raised over $11,000 through Ankeny2Gether t-shirt sales and private donations. Over 14 businesses have received grants from Ankeny2Gether.

As America’s businesses look to reopen safely and keep employees and customers healthy and informed, employers are facing countless new questions and unprecedented new challenges.

The US Chamber of Commerce Digital Resources Center provides the latest state guidelines, sector-specific guidance, small business advice, and other tools and resources to help employers and employees return to work safely and successfully. They will regularly update these tools and resources as new information becomes available.

Governor Reynolds launched the Test Iowa Initiative to expand testing capacity to limit the spread of COVID-19 in Iowa. All residents are encouraged to answer a few questions to determine their current risk and provide the Iowa Department of Public Health and government leaders with insights. Users who take the short survey will receive a recommendation on whether or not they should take a test.

Governor Reynolds signed a new proclamation continuing the State Public Health Emergency Declaration until June 25, 2020. The proclamation announced additional re-openings of businesses and establishments in Iowa. Click here to read the summary.
