CSG Playgroup Newsletter 24th June 2019 This week at playgroup Dear Parents and Carers It was a busy week at playgroup last week we started to talk about where we live, our British landmarks, and London in particular. We’ve read lots of books and we particularly like Big Ben, the London Eye, the natural History Museum, Buckingham palace and Tower bridge! We will keep exploring this amazing theme over the next week too! We also had the visit from Dean Mcarthur Socatots High Wycombe who came back to do another session with us at Playgroup. Please contact Dean to arrange sessions with him and his team, every Friday at Chalfont Saint Giles. He does football practice(of course) but also movement, body parts/warm ups and counting, colours and numbers, team work etc. The children loved their session with Socatots. Page 1 of 6

This week at playgroup

Dear Parents and Carers

It was a busy week at playgroup last week we started to talk about where we live, our British landmarks, and London in particular. We’ve read lots of books and we particularly like Big Ben, the London Eye, the natural History Museum, Buckingham palace and Tower bridge! We will keep exploring this amazing theme over the next week too!

We also had the visit from Dean Mcarthur Socatots High Wycombe who came back to do another session with us at Play-group. Please contact Dean to arrange sessions with him and his team, every

Friday at Chalfont Saint Giles.  He does football practice(of course) but also movement, body parts/warm ups and counting, colours and numbers, team work etc. The children loved their session with Socatots.

TREASURER VACANCY - URGENT

Please see my previous message without a FULL COMMITTEE Playgroup will CLOSE

We now are looking for a new Treasurer! If you or any of your family and friends have a financial background or are training in that field then we would love you to join us. We are also always looking for new members who would like to join our committee.

Being a trustee is a great opportunity to meet new people and become part of a great team. We work alongside the Management team so that we are always making informed decisions regarding the Playgroup.

Becoming a trustee means you will be part of a team who help lead the charity. This means making decisions that will make a difference to the future of Playgroup and the future children of the village. The Playgroup is a big part of the vil -lage so its a great way to get involved with the community.

Trustee’s can use their skills and experience to support the Playgroup, helping them achieve their aims. Trustee’s also often learn new skills during their time on the board.

If you would be interested in becoming Treasurer or a member of the committee please feel free to contact myself, any of the trustee’s or Rebecca and Sarah.

TESCO GARDEN PROJECT UPDATE

Page 4: chalfontstgilesplaygroup.files.wordpress.com · Web viewIt was a busy week at playgroup last week we started to talk about where we live, our British landmarks, and London in particular

As some of you may be aware we received money from Tesco to improve outdoor equipment and our garden area. As a result of these funds we have been able to purchase a brand new shed to store all of the resources safely and se-curely.

We have also been able to provide the children with new and exciting outdoor resources in the garden area, including new ride-ons, a water wall, music wall, woodland counting logs and new tuff spots. Outdoor learning is a large part of our playgroup and many of the resources and equipment were tired or broken. These new resources have meant the children no longer have to "make do" they now have fantastic resources which help them learn through play. It has also helped develop the "risk in play" element which was key during our recent Ofsted inspection as the children now have balance boards to use. We have also developed our messy play element with the mud kitchen which is used daily by the children.

Becky has been working very hard over the weekend with her husband Steve to put up the final bits and add some col-our to the area. We are also going to be having a fairy and sensory garden and giving the playhouse a little revamp! We hope to hold a community day once a year to paint the fences, clean up and replant flowers etc. We will keep you posted with the date of our first one. Here are some photos of the new resources. Look out for more photos and if you have any ideas of how we could improve the space further let us know!
