XLII University of California, Los Angeles MESTER 2013 General Issue – Hemispheric Intersections Mester seeks articles for its general issue to be published in 2013. Mester publishes critical articles, interviews, and book reviews in the fields of Spanish, Portuguese, Spanish-American, Brazilian, Latina/o and Chicana/o literatures and linguistics. Mester also welcomes articles in Comparative Literature, Critical Theory and Ethnic/Cultural Studies. Interdisciplinary and transatlantic approaches are encouraged. Our upcoming volume will have two main sections: a general one open to any topic related to the scope of the journal, and a special supplement section dedicated to Hemispheric Studies, titled Hemispheric Intersections. Possible topics to consider may be of the following: -Decolonial and De-Westernizing Discourses -Transnationalism -Migration’s Scrapes and Flows -Interculturalism, Globalization -Linguistic conjunctions -Interdisciplinary approaches -Performativity, Performance, and Identification -Subaltern Studies -Race, Ethnic and Cultural Studies -Memory Studies Articles may be written in Spanish, Portuguese or English. Publication decisions are based solely on the quality of the submissions, which undergo triple-blind review. The journal is indexed in the MLA International Bibliography of Books and Articles on the Modern Languages and Literatures.
