Caring for the Future Foundation - Philippines Issue # 1, June-July 2014
Children achieve academic honorsSchool Year 2013-2014 proved to
be a banner year for Caring for the
Future Foundation as severalchildren under its care posted
academic milestones.
Three clients graduated from high
school -Kristine (In-house client),
Kervin (After-care program), and
Marvin (Fostership program).
Meanwhile, three children
graduated from elementary,
namely, Cyra Marie, Jerome (both In-
house clients) and Jacob (After-care
As it is the objective of the Caring for
the Future Foundation Philippines toprepare its clients to eventually live
with their nearest kin or immediate
family upon reaching age of reason,
the children under the care of the
Center visited the places they oncecalled home and mingled with their
known relatives on various dates ofMay 2014.
Client Mebeilyn stayed with her
nearest relative on May 6, while
clients John Vincent Leo and Katrina
were brought to Malasiqui,
Pangasinan, and clients Ramel and
Ramilia to Lingayen, Pangasinan, onMay 6 to 8.
On May 7 to 9, clients Jerome and

Ramilaboth received Academic
Merit awards.
The CFFP Board of Trustees and
Center administration are optimistic
that with the current program of the
Foundation, the clients will be
academically-
equipped and
serve as
inspiration to
others similarly
situated.
Cyra Marie stayed with their family at
Alaminos City, while clients Kristine and
Krysel at Sual, Pangasinan.
The family members of the clients
expressed their gratitude to the staffof the Center, noting that the
children appear happier and
healthier while staying in theCenter, and offered words of
encouragement to their young
stewards since at the moment it is
only the Center which can providefor all their needs.
CFFP, although it has custody of
the children, encourages constantinteraction with the nearest living
relative to foster ease of transition
from the Center to eventual returnto the homes and the society.

CFFP holds first season programs
EVER-MINDFUL of its commitment not
just to a well-rounded development of its
clients but to its volunteers as well, the
Caring for the Future Foundation
Philippines (CFFP) completed its season
programs for the first quarter of 2014through the 88thto 90thWork Camps, 27th
Study Tour and 10thHappy Camp at its
Foundation Center, Brgy. Baquioen, Sual,
Pangasinan.
The 88thto 89thWork Camps
CFFP hosted three work camps in the
first quarter of the year. Japanese
University students with their Filipino
counterparts divided in three batches and
separate schedules (the 88thbatch on
February 8 to 19, the 89thbatch on
February 28 to March 8, and the 90th
batch on March 13 to 26) lived in theCenter and immersed with the clients.
During their stay, the work campers
contributed in the improvement of the
Center through hands-on experience oferecting fences and other structures, while
participating in team-building and self-
discovery activities, faith devotions and
inter-cultural exchanges with their fellowcampers and the Foundations clients.
The 27thStudy Tour
Designed to immerse the participants in
the history and socio-cultural state of the
Philippines and the Japanese-Filipino
relations, the 27thStudy Tour hosted by
CFFP for Japanese students brought
the international scholars to places in
the Philippines of historical
significance, with emphasis on relics ofJapanese occupation in the country.
Held simultaneously with the 89th
Work Camp, the study tour alsoallowed the participants to interact
with the indigenous people and
marginalized group of the country, and
meeting with the local community
organizations which are equally-
committed in addressing these sectorsneeds.
The tour allowed the Japanese scholars
to talk directly to members of the Aeta
community, with residents and those
making a living in dumpsites, and with
community-organizers assisting thesesections of the society.
The 10thHappy Camp
To even out work and study, CFFP
hosted another group of Japanese
scholars towards the end of the firstquarter of 2014 in the 10thHappy
Camp. Intended as the fun-part of the
Foundations programs, the happy
camp allows the participants to freely
interact with the Centers clients and
the residents of nearby settlements
(Barangays Baquioen and Sioasio)
through learning each others local
games, hobbies and past times, with
the eventual result of forging lasting
friendships, sincere camaraderie andvalues formation.

Caring for the Future Foundation - Philippines Issue # 1, June-July 2014
I am Mebielyn Javier Fernandez, 16 years old
from Uradaneta Pangasinan. I was once a
street child but on May 26, 2006, everything
changed when I was admitted at Caring for the
Future Foundation Philippines (CFFP).
CFFP became my new family. I felt their love
and their care. But I will never forget the
hardships and struggles I experienced at a very
young age.
I used to be a street child. I used to beg in the
streets for money and food but now I can eat
three complete nutritious meals. The long
streets and sidewalks of Urdaneta City had
been my shelter and home with the rest of my
family. It didnt matter if it rained hard or if
its too hot. We didnt mind of our safety as
long as we are all together.
But everything changed when the Caring for
the Future Foundation came to rescue me. At
first, I was resistant being away from my
family. It was very hard.
As years passed, I came to realize how blessed
am I to be part of the CFF family. I can now
study which I thought I could never do if Im
still a street child. But more importantly I
learned how to love and care for myself and
others. I have learned many values that are
beneficial to my growing years. Now I have
become responsible and I am now able to
dream for my future.
On behalf of my co residents I am extending
my warmest gratitude to all benefactors who
continuously support us. Without you, wehave nothing. Without you, we are nothing.
With you, our dreams will finally be realized.
You all gave us hope that no matter how
difficult our lives are, there are still many
people who would care and love us.
I am knocking on your hearts once again for
your continuous support to the Caring for the
Future Foundation Philippines. My brothers
and sisters and I look forward to a brighter
future because of the help you have given to usthrough CFFP. Maraming salamat po!

Caring for the Future Foundation
Our HistoryIn 1993, pursuant to the partnership between the
YMCA of Saitama Japan and Pangasinan, Philippines, then YMCA Pangasinan General Secretary Edlario E.Campos, YMCA Saitama Executive Director AkiraFutagoishi and Holy Rosary College InstructorRamoncito Depusoy shared their views on how they
can help the less fortunate children in thePhilippines, particularly street children. The fruit ofthe discussion was a resolution to establish afoundation which will provide a home for theseorphans.
Thus, on January 18, 1998, with the inspiring
leadership of then Saitama YMCA Executive DirectorAkira Futagoishi, and with the dynamism ofPangasinan YMCA Directors Edlario E. Campos, LawyerClarence G. Decano, Engineer Joseph G. Lo, DagupanCity Assessor Jose Sanchez, and Pangasinan YMCA
General Secretary Maria Cristina A. Dalope, theCaring for the Future Foundation was incorporatedunder Securities and Exchange CommissionRegistration No. B 199800089 while its license to
operate the Center was granted by the Department ofSocial Welfare and Development on July 02, 2001 withlicense No. 014.
Today, the Caring for the Future Foundation hasgrown to include a main office in Japan and anotherCenter in Malaysia. Through proper coordination,
cooperation and synergy, the Caring for the FutureFoundation looks forward to helping and caring formore children to ensure a brighter future not just forthese children but for the whole world as well.
