Check for Admin Rights

Prior to Exam Day:

• Check the system for rights unless your IT has given you a special log in to the computers (versus student log in) to take the exam.

• Click on the Console 8 icon and log in with your username and password.

• Click on the cog wheel (lower left).

• Click on “Admin Credentials” to make sure your IT added the rights.

• If you have not been provided with a special log in that has full admin rights to the computers and the IT did not complete this section, please request that IT provides this update (They do not need domain, only a username and password that will allow full admin rights during the exam).

Check for Updates –LAN solution

Updates will only need to be performed on the “Console Server (slides 4 & 5)

Performing Updates On the Console Server: The process of downloading and installing both System Updates and any applicable Program Updates will always need to be performed manually on the computer designated as the Console Server. On the Console Clients: Any computers designated as Console Clients will essentially function as mirrors of what is downloaded and installed on the Console Server. Each Console Client will ping the Console Server when Console 8 is launched, and then automatically download and install the same updates that are installed on the Console Server (whether they are System, Program, Required, or Optional). After they are installed the Clients will return to the Login screen. Note: The Console 8 software must be started on the Console Server in order for the Console Clients to be able to see and download updates.
