tournament or the girls? The question was brought up because of the possibility of knocking boys out of the individual tournament when there is already a girls state tournament being run
Powerpoint slides: Covered by Brian Martel
** The Possibility of face masks is very worrisome to members. This was also a worry to Fall sports and they are making it work - can we? ** Scheduling: is this going to be a mad scramble in late October/early November to create a schedule? ** Will smaller schools who can’t necessarily fill a varsity line-up be on the outside looking in when it comes to finding events - team or individual, because of the 4 or 6 team limit? ** Interest in meeting/planning/designing practice plans that could work for our sport ** Even though the MHSAA is going with “4 Teams” for volleyball, membership thought we should be able to do 6 safely. Our required space is less than volleyball. ** Concerns about JV schedules and whether this is going to turn into a ‘varsity only’ type of season ** What about schools with 2 gyms? Run a bigger tournament, or run JV and V at the same facility? ** Temp Checks? Testing for kids during the season? Mandatory Track Wrestling usage during matches? ** Larger league possibly putting together 6-team or 4-team schedules that include all of their teams. ** Smaller league possibly pairing up with another league to do the same thing. ** What will be our geographical limitations? Is it that big of a deal to travel somewhere, as long as it isn’t considered an ‘overnight trip’? ** Friday night JV quads, and Saturday Varsity quads? ** Split start times? ** Referee availability if everything is a quad format?
Are AD’s getting nervous and looking to “pull the plug” early on wrestling? Should we be doing more PR with AD’s in the coming weeks?
Middle School Wrestling questions asked - MHSAA directive coming Thursday

Questions, Comments & Concerns Regarding Proposals:
Squashed rumors of season with no post season NOT ONE proposal suggests this!
If we are wrestling under the C: would we do away with team seeding and go to a
draw since we would not get the chance to seek out common opponents
Under C would we still be able to practice during xmas concerns about wrestling
district only: lack of competition and travel (Richmond and Algonac would travel to Detroit to wrestle charter schools with few wrestlers)
• could we have a separate JV schedule (other sports do)
• Thought wrestling in conference would still provide teams a chance to win something outside
post- season
• Could we wrestle Friday/Saturday quads to alleviate referee shortages
• Friday night Duals Saturday Quads?
• What can we offer middle school and youth programs to keep them intact?
• Temp checks limited to once per day not after every match as kids warm up their temps will
elevate?
• Guidance on practice schedules/structure requested
Who would host team and individual states? How would this be determined?
As last, LAST resort Team Champions decided by Individual Tournament team score, if season was delayed or pushed

V.MHSAA Season update/proposal
. Powerpoint Explaining proposals
Tim Jones was nominated for an officer position
for the Executive Board. He is universally
respected across the state and continually does
more with less while promoting the sport in a
respectful way while exuding class on a daily
basis. Tim Jones Accepts
This was universally well regarded in the spring. We are extremely supportive of this division being present in the future.
Proposal B which seems to be where we are going at this point. Wrestle on Saturdays, with 6 or 4 teams.
Questions about flexibility on Friday instead of Saturday. Schedule was really hard to read, coaches asked for it to be sent to them to digest.
Proposal C Geographic Limits/Individual District Pairing only until end level state tournament. Obvious North Concerns.
Limit on Saturday will still have limits for 5 matches?. MASKS: Questions about using NUWAY meets that are running now with masks off only during a match, but they
are back on before hand shakes. Masking is a rule until it isn’t. Talked about the nose facemasks but each kid would need one, so it would be EXTREMELY expensive (those run
about $50) is Addix working on anything?
Someone reached out to Tony Greathouse RE contract tracing from GFC in South Carolina.
Suggestion: Using Trackwrestling - requiring it either to be used at meets or being updated within 24 hours. Suggestion: NO Parents so Teams can spread out in the stands. . There has been no information regarding out of state meets. - Western UP wrestles in Wisconsin a bit. Will there be
restrictions?
If you aren’t in the school district, make sure to get with the coaches in your district and ask as many questions as
possible about their protocols and be as strict & diligent as possible.
If you have 6 teams, it can be either dual or individual. Round Robin could definitely be doable. We really might
be stuck with only 4, but with a ref shortage, it might be a huge problem.
Some schools are having problems with MS and Youth because they are technically outside organizations and
schools are banning anyone from outside using facilities.

1.
Discussed this proposal… no concerns, everyone feels like this is a no brainer.
Noted we’re waiting on more details to come regarding girls wrestling.
Went through PP. Focused on the three proposals to MHSAA Noted 4 main takeaways;
1. We will have a wrestling season that plans to start on time
2. MHSAA seems to be leaning towards proposal B.
3. Most likely masks will be required during matches and training
4. Be prepared to adjust practice plans in order to limit the number of kids in the wrestling room at a time.
Noted Rep Council Dates/Decision timeline of; 10-19-20 to propose 11-4-20 vote
CONCERNS:
1. Scheduling - How will this work? Will ADs be involved? Will this be up to coaches? Will it all go through
the “Games Wanted “ portal - This could be the biggest concern. We talked about it quite alot.
2. Masks - Will the MHSAA be providing a set of guidelines on what is accepted as a mask and what is
not? Our memberships feel very strongly that if this is mandated by the MHSAA then they need to be very
clear about what is acceptable and what is not.
3. MS wrestling - When will the MHSAA provide info about that? Is it going to happen, are they establishing
rules right now? When do they plan to notify schools on what is going to happen? Bishop noted there is a
plan to communicate that tomorrow 10/15/2020
4. Concerns about postseason for teams that get knocked out. Can teams then wrestle each other if they are no
longer in the postseason tournament.
5. Membership did like the idea of having a separate sub-varsity season, however, with scheduling questions
came up about what that would look like, considering the shortage of officials.
6. It was asked, why wasn’t the membership allowed to vote on what proposal they like best? Why did the
executive board submit plans without the input from the membership. Bishop explained that a request was
sent to the membership looking for suggestions.
