Congratulations to the Berkeley Vale Club First Grade side for recording their first win of the season. Welcome back to “old” campaigner Alex Moore with 2 tries in the match. Well done to our Ladies League Tag Representative team who recorded a 30 points to 2 victory over Greater Northern Tigers at Sawtell last Saturday in the semi finals of the CRL Country Championships (see match report on page 11). Best wishes to the entire team for the Grand Final played yesterday at Camden against GSR Wests Tigers. Our competition this year continues to provide upset results each week and hopefully the uncertainty of matches continues to provide our spectators with ongoing interest. Best of luck to all teams this weekend.Regards,

Fred HartupPresident CCDRL

Roosters News Woy Woy RLFC Round 7 Report: Thanks to all the Woy Woy supporters who have turned up today to see us take on the Terrigal Sharks in Round 8 clash here’s hoping we have all player fit and available today. Thanks very much to the Sharks for hosting us today. Our Round 7 results against Toukley were very welcomed by all supporters, players and coaching staff in particular. Apart from the Ladies first half we displayed all grade displayed some top footy on the day.Although the B&J Asphalting Ladies League Tag players would be the first to say they weren’t at their best, the girls had a much improved second half. It is always going to be tough competing as a team if you only have a handful of players turn up to training. With a proposed change to training day / times may hopefully see a fuller commitment from all girls. We went down 32-10 with Mackenzie and Taylah scoring and Rhiannon kicking 2 goals. Points went 3 to Jasmine, Rhiannon 2 and 1 and Players Player to Taylah. All the girls and all at the club pass on our thoughts and prayers to Rob Wolfe and the entire Wolfe family on the loss of Wolfies brother Andrew during the week after a battle with cancel. The Phil’s Car Repairs Under 19’s had a hard fought win 28-10 against the Hawks in a very physical match. Miggy had his best game of the year and got 3 points and Players Player, Bailey got 2 and Kyle 1 point. Scorers were 2 to Wilso, and 1 each to Jed, Darbee and Bailey with Richo kicking 4 goals. Our Woy Woy Leagues Open Age had another convincing win 40-10 against a Toukley team that never gave up Shay Flanders got 2 tries, Orisi got anoth-er hat trick and Adam and Darbee got 1 a piece, Ben Webber kicked 6 goals. The points were Players Player and 3 to Orisi, 2 to Stevo and 1 to Beau.Great to see Darbee Williams back up from the 19’s and play with dad Shane in the Opens good to see the young bull scoring whilst the old bull looked on proudly in support. In a turnaround in performance the S&M Contracting 2nd Grade team were to good for Toukley and ended up 32-12 winners, coach Mick Bovis was a happy man points went to Beau (who Uncle Mick has snared as fulltime second grader) 2 Chad Martin and Daniel Payne 1 point showing a return to form after injury. Try scorers each getting 1 were Jake, Payney, Chad, Joel, Lynchy and Beau.Versatile Homes 1st grade team put a smile on Macks face after finishing on top 20-10 over a Toukley team that played for the full 80 minutes. It was good game of footy to watch and although we bombed 3 or 4 I still thought we looked confident throughout the game. Rhys Ryan had a blinder scoring 2 and getting players play and 3 points, Jimmy Walsh got 2 tries also but should have had at least one more maybe 2 and got 1 point, Scott Gowans played his best game for the season and got 2 points, Hydey had another strong game and kicked 2 goals.Congratulations to Toby Marks who started in 1st grade and Campbell Shep-pard making his 1st grade debut both had strong games and I’m sure will feature in Mack’s plans for the remainder of the season.A shout out to Bruce “The Legend” Richards who took a stumble on Sunday and took some bark off his elbow, in true Rooster toughness after 7 stitches and numerous injections first thing Brucey wanted to know when collected from the hospital was how we went and how long it would take to get back to the club for the presentations and a schooner. Thanks Renee and Rossy and the ambos and staff at Gosford Emergency for looking after the old fella. Here’s to a quick recovery Bruce. A huge thankyou to all our loyal sponsors and to all volunteers that help out on home games, it would be great to see some more players doing a bit on game days to lighten the load. Up the Roosters

The Sharks hosted the Northern Lakes on the weekend and in three very competitive games of Rugby League came away with two wins and a hard fought loss. The Terrigal Ladies League Tag team won a physical and at times scrappy encounter with the Warriors six tries to one. A long range try to speedster Tara Angell saw Terrigal off to a great start but Northern lakes hit straight back with a handy four pointer. The first half then became a grind with lots of pen-alties and errors. Captain Rach Curnow crossed out of dummy half to give the Sharks some breathing space at half time. A good completion rate from Northern Lakes saw them continue to mount pressure on the Sharks but some excellent last ditch tags from fullback Matead Barber kept the Sharks nose in front. A jinking run from co-captain Emily Hennessey opened the door for another three tries late in the match. Another to both Rach C and Em and a great team try finished by Zali Oultan saw the final score flatter the Terrigal side 26 - 4. Three points and Players Player went to Rach C, Two points to Matead and 1 point each to Em and Tyra McEwen who really stepped up when the contest got physical. The T-W Sharks Open grade came up against a strong North Lakes side that shocked our guys with how physical and well drilled they were. It was a back and forth game with our lack of discipline at crucial times in the game again letting us down. The effort is there, it is more a break down in communication in attack and defence that’s not getting us the win. Players player and three points went to big Max Gordon who was outstanding in attack and defence, the two points went to Micheal Palmer who tries hard to inspire his side and was rewarded with a try and well as adding two conver-sions while the one point went to Ethan Fortis who tries to lead the side around the paddock was solid and defence and also crossed for a try. .The Sharks Reserve grade side overcame a spirited Northern Lakes team in a high quality match. After taking early pressure from the Warriors the Sharks crossed for three quick unconverted tries with Matt Langhein crossing for a double in three minutes, followed by Ryan Donnelly try. Play travelled from end to end for the rest of the half with the Sharks leading 12 - 0 at the break. The Warriors came out strong in the second half and it wasn’t long before the score was 12 - 10 and the Sharks had a real fight on their hands but another try to Donnelly and a Ben Mooney special, which was converted by Josh Lyon had the Sharks out by 22 - 10. A try in the final seconds to the Warriors made the final scoreline 22 - 14 to the Sharks.

Roos News The Roos were off to MacKillop Oval on a sparkling Autumn day for the Round 7 matches against Kincumber. There were hopes of a clean sweep against the Colts and by the end of Reserve Grade, Wyong was on track for just such a result. However, by fulltime in the main game that hope had provedill-conceived as the home team produced a winning effort by contesting each play and bringing genuine energy to every task for the whole 80 mins. The home team’s 1st Grade performance was even more creditable because of the number of injuries sustained during the match. LADIES LEAGUE TAG – SPONSORED BY DOVMAC MINING & CONSTRUCTIONWYONG 30 – KINCUMBER 6The Roos pressured the home team early, especially on late tackle kicks, which resulted in several turnovers in Fillies’ real estate. On the back of a change of possession in the 5th minute, the visitors spun the ball left. Carissa Harrison ran a nice straight line, punctured the defence, then beat the fullback on the inside to score. Seven minutes later, Olivia Kernick, holding the ball in front with two hands, produced a solo effort to beat three defenders to the line. Olivia Glanville converted both tries to give the Roos a 12-0 lead. Wyong were throwing some nice shapes at the opposition, and in the 17th minute, Sarah Dimech ran deep into the defensive line, engineering space for Joeli Morris on her outside. Joeli steamed through the hole and was too fast for the cover. The green and gold led 16-0 at the break. Olivia Glanville and Sarah Dimech scored soon after the resumption; Olivia stepping through the retreating defence and Sarah recovering her own grubber to race away. Olivia converted Sarah’s try and Wyong had advanced to 26 points before the home team responded. Brooke Watson sliced through in the 41st minute for the Fillies’ only try. A minute out from fulltime, Naydine Wahanui angled a kick into the Kincumber ingoal and chased with purpose to ground the ball. Olivia Glanville grabbed both Players’ Player and Coach’s Awards.UNDER 19’S – SPONSORED BY FILL & CARRY FRUIT MARKET AT KANWAL VILLAGE.WYONG 40 – KINCUMBER 4The Colts started well in this match, quickly getting the ball to the Roos edges causing Wyong to scramble on several occasions. However, lack of discipline denied the home team a few scoring opportunities, and once the visitors settled and began holding the ball, points started to accumulate. Following a change of possession in enemy territory, Sam Grose and Kye Leaudais combined on the left for Tomi Kaati to go hard at the stripe. Zac Ryan converted from close to the sideline and after 6 mins the Roos led 6-0. Wyong were methodical in gain-ing field position, and in the 13th minute a right side shift on the Kincumber 10m line saw Jai Hupton display some nice hands and feet to sneak through. Zac converted to extend the lead to 12-0. Jack Brown missed a scoring chance at the northern end and two missed tackles later, the Colts were over in the south east corner via Jesse Byrne. Wyong replied when Zac Russell touched down on the back of a strong run from Lachlan Natapu and a well executed catch and pass from Luke Cain. The Colts kicked out on the full from the restart. The visitors rolled forward centrefield, then shifted the ball right. Quick hands from Jai and Luke created time and space for Jack Brown to score. Zac converted from wide out to give the Roos a 22-4 lead at halftime. Ky Worrell (49th minute), Kendyll Fahey (49th minute) and Luke Cain (66th minute) completed the try scoring for the green and gold. Kendyll Fahey converted all three for the final scoreline. Ray Kaifa was voted Players’ Player and Ky Worrell received the No Coward Award.OPEN AGE – SPONSORED BY CITRUS CLEAN CENTRAL COASTWYONG RECEIVED THE BYERESERVE GRADE – SPONSORED BY OPTUS LAKEHAVENWYONG 28 – KINCUMBER 12This match was a lot closer than the final scoreline might indicate. The Colts had the much better of play in the first half and were leading 12-0 until the 34th minute. Mitchell Clark and Luke Maljevic crossed from close range for Kincumber, and the speed and enthusiasm employed by the Colts was making the undefeated Roos look ordinary. Shaq Mitchell scored off a set piece with a minute left to the break. Jesse Stephen’s conversion narrowed the dif-ference to 12-6 at halftime. A reality check from Coach Parker did the trick. Wyong drew level in the 39th minute. Shaq attracted some defensive flies. The Colts could not repeat the effort, allowing Joe Marshall to steal over. Jesse Stephen converted to square the ledger. A Kincum-ber player was sin binned for a professional foul. The green and gold shifted the ball left and from a no look pass by Jake Trindall, Tom Harvey crashed over in the corner. Shaq split the defence from the restart and offloaded to front row partner Brady Barwick. Chris Brown kept the momentum going with an incisive run. The ball then went right, and a looping pass gave Kairo Anderson plenty of time to score down the paint. Luke Dolbel cut through close to the ruck, drew the fullback and gave Jesse Stephen a clear run to the line. Jesse converted three of the four second half tries. “A tough win against a very committed Colts team. Some scrappy play mixed with some great sections of ball movement….” Tony KeevillLuke Dolbel was Players’ Player for the second week in succession. Braydon Binnie received the No Coward Award.1ST GRADE – SPONSORED BY EVOLUTION SECURITYKINCUMBER 12 - WYONG 10MacKillop Oval has been a bit of a grave yard for Wyong 1st Grade teams in recent seasons and it should have come as no surprise the Colts were again prepared to go above and be-yond to grab the competition points in this match. The Roos crossed first in the 5th minute. Daniel Langbridge broke up the defensive line with a weaving run. The visitors spread the ball right. Greg Wisham isolated a defender and powered his way across the line. Brad Keighran missed the conversion from wide out. Wyong 4-0. Good pressure from the visitors in the 23rd minute again created space for Wisham, but as he held off his marker with one hand and forced his way into the ingoal, the Wyong right centre lost the ball attempting the grounding. The battle tightened as one team then the other were held up over the line. On the half hour mark, Anthony Barbaro scored beneath the posts for the home team. Marco Tetevano lost the ball on a kick return. Wyong were tired and as the fatigue took hold, became guilty of failing to put the ball carrier on the ground. Barbaro charged between the uprights. The Roos did not summon sufficient energy to meet that charge and the interchange forward crashed through. Blake Wylie’s conversion took Kincumber into the break with a 6-4 lead. The Colts took the game to Wyong in the second period with Brendan Hurd prominent. The Roos looked as though they were waiting for something to happen rather than taking the initiative. Alex Lang-bridge jumped to the short side in the 27th minute and released Izzy Cooper-Tetevano into fresh air. Wyong’s left centre had enough impetus to carry Colts’ fullback, Josh French, over the line. Lachlan Hanneghan converted from the sideline giving the Roos a 10-6 lead. Brett Kearney kicked late in the tackle count in the 35th minute. Marco Tetevano failed to secure the ball and Blake Wylie was on hand to touch down. Wylie converted his try for the home team to lead 12-10. The Roos recovered the ball from the restart but lacked the clarity of thought and will power needed to breach the Colts defence one last time. To be fair, a last minute Wyong win would have been an injustice. Brad Keighran was voted Players’ Player.

Bears News A good solid win on the back of our defence. Our attack is improving with the boys complet-ing more sets and making good decisions. With more boys back from injury we are slowly getting back to the form we are known for. 3 Points and Players Player went to Durbo who had his finest game in the Red and Black. 2 Points went to Jake who played his first game for the Club and was impressive in the backline. 1 Point went to Boydy who seemed to be a crowd favourite. Coach-es award went to Binnsy who lead the forwards in defence. This week we have Wyong at Morry Breen which is always a tough ask.

Storm News OK, so last weekend didn’t quite go to plan. We fell back to earth with a bit of a thud as the giant grizzlies put us to the sword in a clinical display. Our lads expended plenty of effort but sadly we ended the afternoon with diddly squat to show for it. Mitch Redding, RJ Warwick, Jaiden Marston, Callum Marsh & co’ did their level best to shore up the guts, Brennan Lacey and Billy James had their moments on the edges, Brendan Eather schemed with intent against his former club, while Jesse Murray provided the only genuine scoring op-portunity when early in the second half he sliced between a cou-ple of nonplussed Bears, before veering left and setting sail for the line only to be halted a blade of grass short in a great tackle by the Eddies custodian, Jake Durbridge. Today sees us return to the scene of our 2017 triumph, and one hopes that the game mirrors that of last season … only with heaps less precipitation! (- The Eye -).

Umina continued as undefeated leaders in First grade in 2005 following their 48 -8 thumping of Wyong, while Erina was leading the Club championships. In 2013, Terrigal were still undefeated in First Grade with Kincumber second after thrashing The Entrance 48 – 4 and Erina was leading the Club Championships. 2007 saw the Central Coast Storm in tenth position in the Jersey Flegg competition and The Entrance in third spot in the Jim Beam Cup.. After 7 matches in 2011, The Entrance had a huge lead in the Club Championships, Matt Ahearn and Todd Maloney were leading the First Grade Best and Fairest. Dylan Kelly was just one point behind in the Under 19 Best and Fairest while Ryan Heath had scored 8 tries to be leading try scorer in all grades.

Characteristics of successful sport club

PresidentsTypically, when we ask new Presidents what their primary responsibility or objective is the answer is often:

“To leave the club in a better position than

when we took on the role of President”

While this is a noble sentiment it is also simplistic in its nature because it implies that the only thing to be done is improve, when the reality is that a President’s responsibilities are more complex. Key activities of a successful sports club President are ensuring the club:• Complies with all legislation, especially Association Incorporation legislation, club rules policies and procedures• Defines and documents its club culture and behaviours and continually communicates them to members, players, coaches, supporters and volunteers• Ensures the club has clearly defined goals and objectives and documented strategies and implementation plans on how they will be achieved• Implement strong financial controls to protect the cash and as-sets of the clubs as well as the volunteers handling the cash• Strong risk management awareness and strategies• Run meetings and communicating to stakeholdersWhile successful club Presidents have a variety of styles and ways they choose to tackle the job, there are common behaviours and characteristics that all successful Presidents seem to have.Understand the club’s governance, its rules/constitution policies, procedures and legislative obligationsSuccessful presidents have a good working knowledge of the constitution, club rules and by-laws, policies and procedures as well as the duties of all positions within the club. It is amazing how many clubs we work with in conflict that was caused because they simply didn’t know or follow their own rules and procedures.Successful presidents have strong knowledge of this information and will use it to create the culture they are seeking as well as providing a framework which to administer the club by.Always talking to and listening to your club membersA good club president listens. More importantly successful club Presidents are always enquiring about how people are going. Whether it is people in allocated tasks and roles or simply those participating in the various activities of the club.Successful club Presidents are always talking and listening to peo-ple inside and outside their club. Looking for issues before they arise or ways to help people undertake their role is a key charac-teristic of successful Presidents.Conversely, when someone (a member, committee member, vol-unteer, parent, potential member) comes to talk to you about an issue, take them seriously. If you don’t have time to address it right then, let them know.Tell them you’d rather talk about it later when you have more time because you really value what they have to say. The positive in-teraction of all your club members will create a successful club and will make you a successful President.

Clear visionSuccessful Presidents all have a clear vision for the club. Ideally this is converted into a formal strategic plan for the club so everybody can see and articulate the clubs vision and more importantly see how they can contribute to achieving the club goals.

Be a confident leaderSuccessful club Presidents become comfortable standing and speaking in front of club members. It’s natural to be nervous when you first become the club’s president, but you need to be con-tinually communicating with your members, so take advantages of times when your members get together in groups to stand in front of them and reinforce the club’s vision and how you wish them to contribute.

Become a strong delegatorSuccessful Presidents don’t do all the work, they ensure the work gets done, so you need to be able to ask for help and support while at the same time clearly articulating what you need done and by when.

Successful Presidents, once they delegate a task, will continually follow up to ensure the task will be completed and they also have the confidence to hold club members accountable to their com-mitments, club rules and deadlines like fee payments.

Make decisionsWhile many decisions need to be made by committees many decisions are required to be made in the normal course of run-ning the club. Successful Presidents have a strong decision-mak-ing framework, based on a strong knowledge of the club rules, policies, vision and understanding of club operations, that allows them to confidently make decisions that are in the best interest of the club and its members.

Lead by exampleSuccessful Presidents engage with the members and leads by ex-ample. They live and breathe the club’s culture and demonstrate it in every situation.

Is a coachSuccessful Presidents ensure everyone has the knowledge, skills and resources to undertake their role.

Boosting confidence in othersA lot of times members leave the club because they don’t feel appreciated, become de-motivated or aren’t given the opportu-nity to participate in projects in the way they had hoped.

Successful Presidents continually recognise the efforts of others and continually attempt to boost confidence in others by cel-ebrating club accomplishments through those who contributed to the activity. Acknowledging the work and efforts of others and celebrating it together with the club is a simple and easy way to boost member confidence.

Ask for helpSuccessful Presidents know they don’t know everything and real-ise they don’t need to! Even the best of the best need to ask for help and assistance every now and then.

Asking for help shows you respect that individual’s expertise and judgement. It makes the person on the other end feel more im-portant and part of a team. It brings forth a sense of unity and as such you show your club members that their ideas, suggestions and ability to share their feedback on whatever the topic at hand may be, matters and will be heard.

Owning mistakesAs the president of the club, you are not expected to be superhu-man or perfect.

As a person in a position of influence, when things don’t go to plan, you may find mistakes may lead back to you in some shape or form.

If the matter is small, rather than playing the blame game and pointing fingers, accept the mistake on behalf of the club and acknowledge the lesson learned. Share how this can be a les-son moving forward and how repeating such mistakes can be avoided.

Your members will respect you for not putting other club members down for small mistakes and will be proud to be part of a club where they are shown that even when errors are made, the club sticks together as a family, just as you do in times of celebrations.

ISP CUP ROOS NEWS

10.

Wyong was hoping the ISP Magic Round would conjure a victory for the visitors against the home team at Henson Park. When the sides met in Round 1, the Roos prevailed courtesy of a Paul Momirovski field goal. The Jets are invariably tough to crack at home for teams in the best of form, let alone for those struggling to find rhythm and coherent match play. The game was just about a must win for the green and gold.Newtown opened the scoring in the 5th minute with a simple try from a scrum on the Roos 20m line. Whilst the decision to award the feed to Newtown was questionable, the ensuing defence was substand-ard and the problems which had plagued the Roos campaign to date were once again close to the surface. Only five minutes later, the Jets punched through the soft spot behind the Roos ruck and galloped into the backfield. Luke Sharpe could do nothing but watch as his opposite Willie Kennedy loomed on the inside and sprinted away to score. Two conversions from Kyle Flanagan and Wyong were already 12-0 behind. Wyong half (and part time model), Mitch Cornish passed long to his left to put Momirovski on the outside of his marker and into space. Cornish then bombed right. Newtown failed to secure the ball and Dean Matterson regathered and muscled his way over. Josh Mantellato converted from the sideline to make the score 12-6 after 15 minutes. Mantellato scored one himself in the north west corner when Matterson skipped from one side of the ruck to the other to create the overlap. Mantellato missed the conversion. Play ebbed and flowed but neither team scored again before the break. Halftime Newtown 12-10. The pattern of scoring was repeated in the second period. The Jets scored twice and with 25 mins left on the clock were ahead 24-10. Cornish feigned to kick on the last then offloaded to Poasa Faamau-sili spearing between defenders to crash over. Mantellato converted. Jets 24-16 with 13 mins remaining. Momirovski tore down the eastern touchline but was grassed on the Newtown 20m line. Wyong spread the ball right, then back left. Momirovski stayed alive, wrestled his way into the ingoal and planted the ball. Mantellato converted from wide out. Jets 24-22 with 8 mins left. Eloni Vunakece split the Jets defensive line from the restart and galloped to the opposition 40m line before being subdued by Kennedy. Wyong earnt a repeat pos-session set. Matterson again swept into the backline and put centre Billy Smith on the outside of his marker to score. Mantellato missed the conversion, but the Roos had hit the lead 26-24 with less than 5 mins left on the clock. Wyong withstood a barrage of attack from the home team over the final few minutes but were good enough to hold on for the win.The Roos are at Central Coast Stadium on 26 May for the repeat bout against the Bulldogs. Kick off is at 12.45pm and precedes the NRL clash between Sydney Roosters and Gold Coast Titans.

LADIES LEAGUE TAG NEWSLast weekend the much anticipated top of the table clash was played between The Entrance and Erina. Half time was nil all but in thesecond half The Entrance were the better team capitalising onErina’s dropped balls and putting some great attacking playstogether. Kristen Kessler was outstanding along with HollyBuchanan for the Tigers while Stacey Markham played a strong game for the Eagles. In other games Toukley put on a greatperformance running out winners over Woy Woy 32-10. Northern Lakes scored one try but managed to keep a well oiled Terrigal side to 26 points. Emily Hennessey was the best on the field along with her halves partner Rach Curnow. Wyong secured a win over the Colts and once again Ranni Jackson played a hard strong game. Ourimbah went down to Berkeley Vale with smiles on their faces, the Magpies LLT side are a young enthusiastic team who are improving each week and really enjoying their games with great attitudes. Good luck to the LLT representative side playing in the final this weekend hopefully making it two years in a row to take the title!

1st Grade – Proudly sponsored by Toowoon Bay Carpets & Shutters Well it took a while but what a win on a sunny Sunday afternoon at the beautiful Berkeley Vale oval against the old rivals Ourim-bah...always a cracking game!!!The first half was very tight and we went to the break with the game in the balance and the Magpies with their nose in front, halftime saw the boys get some inspirational chat from a couple of old timers that steeled the confidence of the young fellas and saw us come out and play like we know we can...pretty to watch!!! Our big boys dominated up the middle and or sneaky quicks fed of it to lay a platform for our outside backs to get some room and put some points on. I’d like to welcome to the club big Matty Cross who has been around the boys since round two and is a super addition to our great club...love having you around mate and I bet you felt super on Monday morning!!!Another old bloke decided to pull the boots on again and didn’t go too bad...you’re a freak Moore...surprised you weren’t on NBN with Stevey Allen on Monday night!!!I’m not going to go through who got the points because every player did the job they were asked but I’m going to show some bias and stand out Steven Lyons who hates accolades...you were outstanding, along with JJ, Dan Murphy, Byrnesy and our chunky little 6 Pazzy!!! First grade would like to thank our hard-working committee and ground staff as well as our sponsors and supporters for their continued support after a very tough start to the season...stick with us, the ride has just begun!!!Cheers and beers...Johno2nd Grade – Proudly sponsored by Berkeley Vale Cellars.Unlucky in the end got back to 22-20 and on a roll then we drop it and let them in again we try so hard each week but keep making silly errors and giving teams to much start.3 points and players player Jason Little 2 points Waylon and 1 to Jayden who was supposed to start in the front row but was shifted to wing and was great, Matt Bailey got another double and was inspirational as usual .We need to start better boys and anything can happen from there.Ladies League TagOur girls improved our attack against a very enthusiastic Ourimbah team, Jessie, Sharni and Breah set up some nice ball movement but that is just the start, we need to keep working on improving. Chloe, Tara, and Orana were strong in all aspects and kept our middle working. Katrina used her experience on more than one occasion and shut down several plays. Kodi is starting to find form after her injury and Anjuna, Taelah and Caitlin were solid as at the back. Players Player went too Anjuna and Caitlin with points to Caitlin, Chloe, Tara, Anjuna and Taelah. Try’s to Jessie, Sharni and Caitlin and Sharni kicked two goals. With only 11 players again we stood tall girls, well done.

Berkeley Vale Rugby League & Sports Club would like to thank our Sponsors, for their continued generous support of our great club.

Toukley Hawks On our first away game travelling to Woy Woy was going to be tough and it was. We started slow and some costly errors put us 2 try’s behind early in the game. In the second half we got back to our form scoring 2 quick try’s and only been 1 try behind. Falling into sloppy lapses in our game giving Woy Woy put 2 more trys on, resulting in a loss that we didn’t need. There is always another week in footy as they say! We have Berkeley Vale at home this week, it will be a good test as Berkeley Vale have the return of Alex Moore. So it will be interesting. Also want to mention and appreciate the time and effort the volun-teers put in on home and away games your valued time and effort isn’t unnoticed so thank you and I hope the hawks do you all proud. An Improved performance this week by the Hawks Reserve Grade, as we showed for parts of the gamete can be very competitive. We came out on the wrong side of the scoreboard but showed promise.Best For the Hawks were Cameron Cox and Jack McCudden.Special mention to our under 19’s for backing up, Bailey Petrie, Ryan Donegan and Taj Kennedy. Our Opens side went down to Woy Woy 40 to 10. The first half was 16 to 10 losing 6 players to injury, fatigue kicked in but the boys did not give up at all. Great games for Shannon Cassidy and Squirtle even the Grandpa played well. We will have to regroup and play a full 70 minutes against a tough and determined Gosford side this week. The Poppi Concreting U/19’s travelled to Woy Woy for our first away game of the season. Once again we played good football in patches but basic mistakes and soft defence resulted in a loss. I know these guys are trying and once we can iron out some small issues I believe they will perform well. Best for the Hawks were Bailey Petrie who scored a try, ran hard and received Players Player, Taj Kennedy who played his consistent hard football and Bryce Moffatt who got himself involved and ran well. Thanks again to our sponsors; Poppi Concret-ing, Redmen Fire Protection & Bruce The Plumber for your ongoing support. The Hawks Ladies League Tag side took on Woy Woy this week and had a great win. The first half was excellent and we went to the break 20 nil up. There were a few too many mistakes in the second half but still ended up with a 32 - 10 victory. It was one of those games where everyone did their job really well. G scored 3 tries and was our best player, Darby and Lara ale played well.

We would also like to thank and acknowledge some more sponsors this week

Warriors News We welcome the Entrance to Doyalson this Sunday to take on the Warriors. Special mention must go to our major sponsor the Doylo. Don’t forget our after match presentation each week in the Smokehouse. It is 10 years since our club won our first 2nd grade competition versus the Entrance so it is time we get to-gether to celebrate this great occasion. A special mention must go to our thirds who had a great win against Terrigal last week. We look forward to a great day of foot-ball at the Doylo.Ladies Report:The girls came back to earth with a loss against the high flying sharks. Even though the girls didn’t win the game they pushed their opponents to the end. With a bit more luck and 50/ 50 calls going the girl’s way the result could of been a lot closer. The final score definately didn’t indicate the closeness of the contest. Hard work, a larger bench on game day and passion will see the girl’s be very competitive again this week.Karly, Jackie and Sam were strong in an all round solid team performance.3rd Grade ReportThe boys really put in from the opening whistle this week. There was some punishing and committed defence early in the game which put the Sharks on the back foot. The Warriors kept apply-ing the pressure and in a seesawing battle the boys stayed true to each other and came out on top. Playing for 70 minutes in a committed way for each other makes a lot of difference. The whole team put a strong performance in this week and repeat efforts will only see this team improve.2nd Grade ReportThe Warriors reserve grade got off to a solid start but handling errors and discipline saw the Warriors on the back foot and they found themselves down by 12 points at half time. A better com-pletion rate and more intent with each effort in attack and de-fence saw the boys claw their way back into the contest. The bounce of the ball and lack of possession at the closing stages of the game saw the Sharks finish stronger and come out eventual winners 22 points to 14. Quinny, Moey and Haysey were again strong for the Warriors.

Tigers News First Grade Report: - The Central Coast Cleaning Contractors First Grade Tigers came up against Erina who presented us with a very physical challenge, as they play with size and aggression which made for a good game of footy. We were able to match that and get over it to score some well executed tries in the game giving us a 34-4 score line at fulltime. The most pleasing aspect of the game was our ability to stay focused on the task and remain disciplined in what we wanted to achieve. It was an excellent whole team performance and one that we will be trying to replicate in future weeks.Reserve Grade Report:The GTL Rapid Clean Reserve Grade Tigers were defeated 22-30 by Erina. Unfortunately the Tigers weren’t up for this game mentally and poor atten-tion to detail, a completion rate of 3 from 14 in the first half, and an apparent discipline problem saw us trail 24-6 at the break. The second half didn’t start well with the Eagles scoring early to extend their lead to 30-6. Finally, some respect for possession was shown and the Tigers were able to score some good tries to make the score line a little more respectable. A much improved performance will be required if we are to get back in the winner’s circle.Open Age Report:The MJM Kitchens & Stone Open Age Tigers came up against top of the table Erina. In a game that was scoreless for most of the first half, a few errors from our end gave Erina some good field position and seen us come to an end result of 18-0 to Erina. Best for the Tigers was Curtis, Mitch and Brodie .Under 19’s Report:The Coca Cola Amatil Tigers Under 19’s Tigers were facing another big chal-lenge at home to the high flying Erina Eagles. The match started brilliantly for us with 2 early tries to talented edge player Kyle McCudden with a conver-sion to Jackson Greaves for a 10 nil lead. Erina ground their way back into the contest and led 16–10, but tough defence from the Tiger Cubs forced our opposition into errors and we scored a great try to our young gun Jack Smith which was converted by Jackson Greaves for a 16 all deadlock at half time. In the second half, solid defence from both teams had us 16 all with 15 minutes to go, but well down on troops with injuries to key players affecting us; the floodgates then opened and Erina ran in 4 easy tries to run out victors 38–16. Best players for the battered and bruised Tigers were Kyle McCudden, who was also players’ player, Andrew Petersen and Samuela (Buck) Marayama. We now have an enforced rest which may come as a blessing and enable us to recover from some niggles and then we will be ready to go again with some reinforcements.League Tag Report:The Pallisters Ladies League Tag Tigers continue on their winning way with a solid win against the Erina Eagles. With both sides heading into this Round 7 clash undefeated, it was always going to be a tough clash. With a nil all half time score it was shaping up to be a close one. With a brilliant team try from a set play, combined with two pieces of individual brilliance from Kristin Kessler and Steph Sharp saw the Tigers run out winners 16–4. Best for the Tigers was Holly Buchanan and Bree Dawson. The Entrance Leagues Club and TERLFC would like to thank our 2018 Spon-sors for their continued support both on and off the field:Major Sponsor/ 1st Grade: Central Coast Cleaning Contractors, Reserve Grade: GTL Rapid Clean Central Coast, Open Age: M J M Kitchens & Stone, Under 19’s: Coca Cola Amatil, League Tag: Pallister PromotionsBusiness Sponsors: Tooheys, Coca Cola Amatil, OAS Computers, Treasury Wine Estates, Sharp Document Solutions, Simonds Homes, Eris McCarthy Electrical, Victor Sports, Novaskill Employment Services, Gas Audio Services, Fortunity Assurance, Barker Plumbing Services, eBet Group, Wideview Audio Visual & Security, ECO Pest Control, R & J Sonter Concreting Services.Jersey Number Sponsors: 1. Colts News Colts travel accross town to Erina in what should be an interesting afternoon of footy with a traditional rivalry establishing between the two clubs. 1st grade are on a high after last weeks win against undefeated Wyong their first back to back wins this year. The lower grades will have tough games ahead but will look to improve on their efforts from the previous game. Good luck to all the grades today. Premier Trade 1st GradeIt was a real arm wrestle at the stable as the Premier Trade Centre Colts came up against the competition benchmark Wyong Roos. The Roos drew first blood out wide to which our boys fought back with Barbacino crashing over under sticks minutes later for Blake Wylie to convert. There were minimal errors from our boys for most of the game but the Roos kept coming and to our credit we held them out until the 70th minute when they caught us napping out wide and went to a 10-6 lead. Not down yet the master Troy Woodley stabbed a ball through for skittles to score and convert his own try. The final 3 minutes where mix of desperate attack and even more desperate defence helping us put earn first back to back win for the year. For us Brett Kearney was everywhere picking up the scraps and bringing a stronger kicking game to our attack, Brendan Hurd was at his best while Troy Woodley, Ian Henderson and Ben Tonks stood out amongst a very gritty team performance. Worthy Players Player was Bendy. It was great to see Jackson Watson in red and what an effort he put in for us chiming into our attack with our other flanker Brodie Cooper to help take the pressure of the forwards. Three cheers for the day went to Tony Clarke our opposing coach who had admirable words to say to our team after the game proving what a great sportsman he is. Best wishes go to OBI who suffered a bad injury and we hope will not be out too long and the real improver in our side Tyson Potger who we hope to be back within a week or so. This week we are off to Erina and expect a very different game to that put up by Wyong but as always hope it is a good hard clean game of footy. It’s a long way off before our next home game on July 1 so with the next 5 weeks on the road if we can maintain our place on the ladder over this period we will be pretty pleased. Thanks to our major sponsor the Empire Bay Tavern for their hospitality last Sunday night which again was a cracking good night highlighted by Maso’s outstanding acoustic performance.Sydney Markets Reserve GradeWhat a difference a week makes, massive improvement right across the park for the Sydney Markets Limited 2nd Grade Kincumber Colts.(3) points went to Tyler Durbidge with one of the best defensive displays I have wit-nessed on the Coast. Tackled everyone & everything and didn’t look like slowing down, massive effort mate.(2) points was shared by Captain Al Rozario & new boy back Kayde Donkin. Both had powerful games in attack & had plenty of sting in them with their D. (1) point went to the flying winger in Daniel Hutchinson, great energy and went looking for the ball all game until he was injured. Off to Erina we’re it will be another tough one but one we need to win.Sidelines Sports & Grill 19’sThe Sidelines Sports Grill Under 19’s came up against the undefeated competition lead-ers last week in Wyong, who gave the young Colts a footy lesson. Going down 42-4 the boys gave 100% effort but just lacked the polish in most areas of our game which allowed the older, bigger & wiser Wyong side to dominate most parts of the game. A very well structured & coached Wyong side has shown us what we need to strive for & highlighted areas we need to work on. Our Players player this week went to Mitch Wenzel. 3 Points went to big Keano, 2 points to Alex & 1 point to Fletch. Another hard game this week against Erina will give the boys an opportunity to improve their game. Good luck fellasG & W Hydraulics Ladies League TagA good game by our girls I dont think the score represented the game with everyone playing there role and it showed with a number of players getting points there were some strong performances shown by Aleshia and brooke. Brooke also scored a great solo try with eb H getting the conversion big game against the eagles this week let’s keep moving forward girls Players player- Aleshia 3pts- Brooke 2pts- Ranni, Miller, Ella1pt- Ebony H, Jess M, Teagan, Leah, and Lou

Wishing Brent and Benny a speedy recovery. 3 points Tim Burrell, 2 points Alan Munro and 1 point to Shane McFadden. Hopefully our run of home games will be a turning point for the team.Open grade - The Eagles Open grade remain undefeated after a bruising against 2nd placed Tigers side on Sunday! The final score was probably not a fair indication of the closeness of the teams. We managed to make the most of our opportunities when they presented themselves. The pin point kicking game of halfback Blake Laybutt was a highlight of our 18-0 vic-tory. There were plenty of good performances from our boys, including welcoming back Robbie Smith to the side, Bes was in everything as usual closely followed by Deegs, Stormy, Redhead, Kurt & Mcgee .Under 19s - Off to an ordinary start similar to last week and only completing half of our sets when we had the footy,16-16 half time score. We spoke in depth about our inability to control the ball when in possession and the need to rectify that part of our game. Again as has been in previous matches the team responded, making only one error in an entire half of footy. With that we were able to score points and further more keep The Entrance to their opening 16 points, which was very pleasing. Must mention 4 tries scored by Harry - well done mate. Players player awarded to Max. Touch wood we get off to a more positive start today.Ladies league tag – it was the top of the table clash today and our girls were ready for the challenge. It was a very even first half and both sides had good attacking opportunities which was matched with good defence. We went to the break at nil all. The second half we dropped a few balls which The Entrance capitalised on and turned into points on the board. We tried hard and competed for most of the game but they were better on the day and ran out 16-4 winners. Best for Erina were Katie Richter, Stacey Markham and Madi Crowe while for The Entrance Kristen Kessler, Holly Buchanan and Steph Sharp were their best.
