VisionThe Robert J. Connors Writing Center provides individual writing conferences to members of the University community. Our highly skilled Writing Assistants have backgrounds in many different

academic disciplines and are trained to help students at all stages of the writing process. We seek to help students improve their writing and understand the importance of collaboration and

communication while ensuring that the student maintains ownership of his/her work.

What the Writing Center does…

• Engage all student-writers in a one-on-one conversation about their writingprocess.

• Work with writers on all stages of the process, from brainstorming, organization, focus, paragraph structure, to self-editing skills, etc.

• Encourage students to take agency over their own writing choices, develop critical thinking skills, and understand their own process/approach to writing.

• Although not a proofreading service, we work with people who need help in self-editing techniques and formal writing conventions.

• Accessible to all students, including students whose first language is not English.• Provide resources, support, and strategies for all students to apply to all types of

writing projects.
