ObituaryObituaryGustavas Emmanuel Mills was born on November 17th 1929 in Palmiste, St.John, Grenada and departed this life on January, 29, 2021 at the age of 91. He was the third child of Adina and Elton Mills from St. John, Grenada. At a young age, he dove for fishes in the sea to assist his mom to provide a meal for his family; throughout his life he never stopped providing for his children and family.

Also, at a pretty young age, he become a painter’s apprentice, which he was later known as Mills the painter throughout Grenada and even in New York to some who knew him. To us he was one of the best painters known and mixing colors for painting was his pride and joy.

Gustavas later migrated to Trinidad, spend a short time, went back to Grenada, and later migrated to the United States in the early eighties to prepare a better life for his family.

Gustavas was such a wonderful person with a jovial spirit and a joke or story for all who will listen, not forgetting his quick wit and sharp tongue had everyone laughing. One of his latest and favorite jokes when asked, where the boys at? “In Palmiste” doing what? “Drinking rum and coconut water”not to mention his thoughtfulness and generosity towards everyone.

He was a very hard working, devoted, loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and humble. In addition he made great sacrifices to ensured his children had what they needed.

Gustavas lived a full loving life with his devoted wife of 51years until she transitioned in January 2015. He lived an active life until his passing on Friday January 29, 2021. Yes, there was pain and sadness, however his struggle has come to a peaceful end. Even though he is gone, he bequest his love, peacefulness, and determination to go on with his life the way he touched our lives and that of others will forever remain in our heart.

Gustavas and his now deceased wife, Carmen Mills have nine children, Greta, Trover, Harold, Claudius, Sheridan, Sonia, Anna, Janice, and Jennifer. Daughters- in-law, Gertrude and Sherma. Sons- in- law, Tony, and George. He leaves twenty-four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

His surviving siblings are William Mills. Gustavas is also survived by many nieces and nephews including Jean, Rita Cecil, Aswald, Eric, Doris, Hazelann and many more. Other family and friends too much to mentioned, but not forgotten.Sisters-in -law, Mable and Venetta, brother-in- law Olando.

Dad, thank you for everything you have given us, your warmth you shared with us during this your precious time on earth. We love you dad. Continue to sleep safely in Jesus’s arms.

Come To MeCome To MeGod saw you were getting tired

And a cure was not to beSo he puts His arms around youAnd whispered, “ Come to Me”.

With tearful eyes we watched you And saw you pass away.

Although we loved you dearly,We could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,Hard working hands are at rest.

God broke our hearts to prove to usHe only takes the best.
