Adie Elizabeth Ogbourne (Fuller), affectionately known as Irma, was bornin Morant Bay St. Thomas Jamaica on July 17th, 1949 (there was a clericalerror and her birth date was recorded as August 17th) to Pearl Clarke andMatthew Fuller. Adie spent her early years in in Morant Bay with her mother, and in Westmorland with her Aunt Kel.
Adie was a proud graduate of Saint Joseph’s Teachers College. She majoredin English and Mathematics. Adie was an accomplished writer, and herEnglish teacher often used her essays as examples to assist others. Alwayssharing her talents, Adie always made herself available to mentor and tutormany of her students. Outside of school she was often the life of the party, andearned extra money by catering parties with her famous curried goat. She wasalso one of the founding members of the Green Field Girls Club and attendedthe Jamaica School of Dance.
In her early twenties, Adie met the love of her life Oswald Ogbourne and theymarried in 1978. Their union produced her three children Kerri-Anne Patrice,Nneka Monique and her “Son-shine” Sheldon George. She was a devoted, loving and caring mother. She also loved and cared for many more childrenthat weren’t her own. She is often described as like an mother or a secondmother to many who love her.
Adie was a school teacher in Jamaica before migrating to New York in 1981.In New York, Adie worked in several industries as a imports and exportslogistics specialist until she retired. At home, she was still a teacher. It wasexpected to find index cards with vocabulary words and math facts postedthroughout the family home.
Adie had many passions including traveling with friends and family. She wasmost of all dedicated to family, especially her grandchildren, and didn’t missan opportunity to celebrate life. Adie also enjoyed shopping for her friendsand family during her travels and sharing stories of gifts she carefullyselected. Adie loved to cook, care for others, all while being very active inchurch and especially cherished visits from her church family. She also lovedthe color green and collected elephant statues. Her love for elephants have aspiritual significance, as they have the ability to stay strong and remaincompassionate -- just like Adie always was. Always faithful, her strength andfighting spirit during her illness inspired and motivated all of us. Recently,Adie looked forward to family trips to the beach to soak-up the sun and sand, while remembering her beloved homeland.
She leaves to cherish her life and memory: her loving husband Oswald, children Kerri (husband Kevin), Nneka (husband Cleon) and Sheldon;grandchildren Milan, Chelsea, Lauren and Aiden; her sister Sonia and herchildren, Stacy-Anne, Karlene, Robert Jr, and Monique; her GoddaughterTheresa as well as many dear relatives and friends. Adie is predeceased by herparents and her brother, Sonny.

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,I'm following the path God laid for me.I took His hand when I heard His call,
I turned my back and left it all.I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I've found that peace at the close of the day.If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,Ah yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My Life's been full, I savoured much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch,Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.Lift up your heart and share with me,God wanted me now, He set me free.
