Logical/Mathematical reasoning and problem solvingVisual/Spatial seeing and imaginingBodily/Kinesthetic interaction with the environmentMusical/Rhythmic sound and patterningIntrapersonal feelings, values, and attitudesInterpersonal interaction with othersNaturalist classifications, categories, and hierarchiesExistentialist connecting to larger understanding

Broken into 3 Domains: interactive, analytic, introspective.Interactive: self-expression & exploration of environment. (interviews, creatingcircuit)Analytic: analysis & incorporating data into a schema. (creating sheet music, usingtrial & error to create a bridge to hold a certain weight)Introspective: looking inward, reflection, emotive in nature (feeling about socialjustice, art)

Remember:Everyone has all the intelligencesIntelligences can be strengthenedMI theory is not meant to label people as certain learners. Its meant to empowerthem.

    1. Motivation tied to readiness and self-competence. Lots of research tying

achievement to feelings of competency. Students often see the skills they learn in

the classroom as separate from their real lives, often show the skills in one, butnot the other. DI allows students to bring those skills they apply outside the

classroom into their learning environment (example: forums & blogs, videos

theyve made, research theyve done on how to get past a certain level in a video

    game.)

    2. On the flip side, we dont want to bore them. Students need a challenge. Theyll

get bored if what were asking for is below their ability levels. Differentiation

allows for students to start at their own levels to show growth.

When planning, trying using at least one intelligence from each domain for a well-

rounded lesson. Accommodating intelligences increases comprehension, retention,

and recall. (McKenzie p. 25)No more than 3-5 intelligences in one lesson.

When selecting media, lessons should not revolve around technology, but the tech

should revolve around the learner/objective (McKenzie 48)

Start with a clear objective (McKenzie 77) To integrate technology effectively, apply knowledge of the technology to

Gardners model (different technologies stimulate different intelligences)

    (McKenzie p. 35)
