Description

Provides two new approaches for the end to end composite process: The grid compositeand the solid composite

These new approaches offer better optimization in the composite design steps and better matingwith structural parts in turbine wing design for the aerospace and energy industries.

Improves the end-to-end electrical process with more knowledge capture and reuse forelectrical design

The user may define knowledge user parameters on internal harness coverings and copydata from a catalog definition to a harness design. A knowledgeware check allows the user tovalidate the 3D harness segment diameters versus the harness segment diameters computedfrom wires. The user may also synchronize equipment reference designator attributes betweenelectrical and tubing definitions using knowledge.

Provides more productivity in wire and harness design & flattening

V5.19 provides more efficient harness flattening with the ability to maintain bundle tangency froma 3D harness design. It allows the use of XML electrical files in a local repository when usingENOVIA VPM V5. Arranging segments in a support is improved to ensure wire routing and toincrease accuracy of complex connector assemblies (shell and connector).

Improves V4 to V5 electrical harness data migration

V4 to V5 migration brings numerous benefits in this release, such as the migration of V4protection as V5 light protection. The user is able to use the enhanced V5 internal protection ifhe or she migrates electrical data containing protections from V4 to V5. This enhanced migrationoffers improved consistency of V4 and V5 bundle segment shape and length.

Brings a new EndCut command for structure design

The user may:

• Create, edit, and delete end cuts, and the end cut for a beam is integrated in the piece partengine

• Translate a Structure Functional Design 2 (SFD) or Ship Structure Detail Design 2 (SDD)feature during the explode mode through piece part process

• Define end cut graphic replacement in drafting

• Manage different graphic replacements for beam pillars

Enhances technological results usage in tooling design

The mold to cam function is enhanced to permit the creation of a technological results report.Reporting of die/mold technological results is accessible via the new command DisplayTechnological Results (available with Prismatic Machining Preparation Assistant 2 (MPA)license). Any user of the Tooling Design 1 product who has an MPA license can benefit from thisenhanced reporting command:

• Create a report (*.csv) on the technological results existing in a given die

• Define some in house processes between the design and the manufacturing stage thatprovide the user with a powerful tool to control the integrity of the die design and preventscostly iterations between design and manufacturing

Increases design productivity in sheet metal design

The powerful extrusion explode improvement offers an explode mode, which allows the userto generate an associative wall on edge. Creating an extrusion becomes an accelerator ofthe design and exploding the extrusion allows user to locally modify design while maintainingassociations.

Ensures new improvements in the machining simulation domain:

• Capability to support milling machines with interchangeable heads. This enhancement allowsthe user to simulate milling machines with interchangeable heads, thus enabling the user toverify numerical control (NC) tool paths for travel limits and collisions and modify if necessary.

• Machine configuration management within an operation. The new options in the existing toolpath modify dialog and the tool path trace allow the user to:

– Force the selection of a particular machine configuration during machine simulation

– Associate and persist a machine configuration along with a particular tool path point fromwithin the tool path modify dialog

– Apply this machine configuration during machine simulation when the particular tool pathpoint is to be reached

Ensures the design of complex machine parts with easy-to-use multi-axis machiningoperations

V5.19 provides a new multi pocket flank contouring operation, which supports multiple toolaxes for point-to-point operation. The tool axis may be driven by an auxiliary surface (sweeping, contour driven, iso-parametric, and curve following) through the 5x operation.

Reduces programming machining time

To get accurate information, the user can display the in-process stock on each milling or turningoperation. The tool path replay includes the capability to check collisions with parts and fixturesdefined in the part operation. During a contour driven operation, an extra guide may be definedin several ways:

• By two points

• By a point and direction

• By an automatic guide contour computed to enable contact points on a guide curve

Multiple radial passes may be operated for thread and circular milling operations.

Enlarges and optimizes machining process and technology

V5.19 introduces new operations for NC machines. A new mode, by offset on contour, isincluded for plunge milling, the clearance management is federated, and tool path cornerizationis available. In milling and turning, the user has the ability to manage the C-axis on a turret, andit is now possible to conduct process machining on the main spindle and the counter spindlepart with the same tool. Also, the user may invert the tool orientation (0-180 degrees). Both aconical tool and a user profile tool are supported in IPM generation for profile contouring in DPMmachining.

Design performance for innovation

Increases sales through on the plant, architecture, and construction industries thanks tonew capabilities in terrain modeling

These powerful improvements include the ability to:

• Work with meshed surfaces and volumes including tessellation and multi-slice commands

• Edit the meshes easily

• Create and manage Z-Level curves

• Benefit from dedicated improvements to the building implantation and enhancements to thegraphic performances

Provides the intersection edge fillet command to improve update stability during designchanges

The new intersection edge fillet command increases the part design user's daily productivity bymaking it possible for the user to:

• Create fillets with the appropriate definitions, including definitions by the intersection of severalfeatures and beyond the intersection of faces

• Rely on improved update stability during design changes

• Capture and reuse part design features easily

The user can define a power copy that includes a set of features and a fillet defined at thefeature intersection level. When this power copy feature is re-instantiated in another context, thefillet is correctly updated since it does not depend on the intersection of the selected faces butinstead on the intersection of the features.

Improves productivity by providing easier definition and better stability of the blendcorner capability

This improvement extends the use of the blend corner capability for fillet definition (removingsmall edges selection) and prevents the redefinition of former blend corners when modifying anedge fillet. The user interface for creation by selection of edges or vertices, edition of the value, and remove is enhanced to improve productivity.

Allows the user to define the gage taper hole main diameter using the selected face as thereference

The user interface of the gage taper hole is improved to provide a new computation mode thatenables the user to compute the tapered hole using the selected face as the reference for themain diameter.

Breakthrough technologies

Improves and accelerates the part and tooling design review process formanufacturability with wall thickness analysis for the Cast & Forged Optimizer (CFO)product

V5.19 delivers Cast & Forged Optimizer (CFO) with wall thickness analysis. This new capability

• Improves and accelerates the part and tooling design review process for manufacturability inboth casting and forging processes and injection molding processes for plastic part design

• Allows the user to analyze the part thickness either by projecting a ray from the selected pointinside the part and normally to its surface, or by rolling a sphere of a maximum diameter insidethe part

• Allows detailed and accurate analysis and provides quick identification of critical thin or thickareas using a dynamic sectioning view and a transparent mode display

Ensures automatic filleting in shape design

Automatic filleting provides a significant process improvement, especially for the design ofplastic and molded parts. Previously, the process of filleting sharp edges to conform to existingfeatures was a repetitive and very time-consuming phase of the shape design process. This newcapability is particularly helpful for fillet manufacturing preparation because it can automaticallyfillet the sharp edges of a shape in a single operation.

Permits fast surface creation from curves in the Imagine and Shape product

Two new primitive commands are added to provide an intuitive and productive interface with noadditional geometry creation. The extruded profile command enables the user to draw directlythe profile from the extrude command. Profile modification can be accomplished dynamicallywithin the extrude command, and a command is provided to revolve the profile around an axisdefinition.

• Redundancy constraint check activate/deactivate - This new setting is added to activate anddeactivate the redundancy constraint check.

CATIA - Part Design 1 (PD1)

• Gage Taper Hole - This new computation mode allows the user to compute the tapered holeby using the selected face as the reference for the main diameter.

• Display parameters in specification tree - This new option improves productivity by making theparameter values for selected features directly available in the specification tree.

• As Result With Link Sketch Positioning - This new option makes the sketch positioning panelavailable for the Sketches As Result With link. This function provides designers with theability to specify the 3D position of a Sketch ARWL, when possible for standard sketches, bydefining:

– The support

– The origin

– The orientation of either the horizontal or vertical direction

In addition, a new positioning mode, Positioned as Reference, is now available to enabledesigners to restore the position link with the reference sketch as needed.

• As Result With Link Sketch Explode - This new explode capability enables the user to switchfrom a Sketch ARWL to a standard sketch for editing purposes. Once exploded, the sketch isno longer associated to its initial reference sketch, if one exists.

• Drag-and-drop robustness: Reorder use - The drag-and-drop operation is improved witha new Using Reorder option. This option ensures that from the drag position to the dropposition, the original feature remains the same and the name of the feature is no longerchanged when it is moved.

CATIA - Part Design Feature Recognition 1 (FR1)

Colorization of corners - The colorization for corners rules are modified to ensure that when thelimiting faces of a corner have the same radius, the corner is displayed with the same color. Thismodification helps increase productivity by reducing the number of corners that will have to bechecked manually.

CATIA - Wireframe & Surface 1 (WS1)

• Additional Knowledge Generative Shape Design evaluator - This new option extends thescope of Generative Shape Design (GSD) feature creation via knowledge. New GSD featuresinclude:

– Projection along a direction

– Boundary

– Fill

– Invert

– Transformations

• Extends inputs of Points&Planes Repetition command - The additional element in the userinterface allows curves and points to be selected separately. This provides more flexibility andmakes the command more useable with a larger usage scope.

• Adds preview button on Points&Planes Repetition command - This new preview mechanismon the Points&Planes Repetition command saves valuable time on the try-error process.

• Includes large Scale support - This is a new option for managing large scale numerical valuesin the geometric modeler tolerance. This is particularly useful for the power, process, andpetroleum industry.

• Displays preview button on Planes Between command - This new preview mechanism on thePlanes Between command saves time on the try-error process.

• Includes new behavior for drag-and-drop using reorder - The user can move a selectedfeature from one position to another in the product structure without using the copy and pasteoperations that create temporary features. When the drag-and-drop operation using reorder iscomplete:

– The original feature remains the same from drag position to drop position.

– The feature name is no longer changed.

– The features that have the dragged and dropped feature as parent will update.

CATIA - Generative Drafting 1 (GD1)

• Propagation of Functional Tolerancing and Annotation (FTA) and 2D layout view modificationon update - A generative drafting view defined from a 3D view, either from an FTA or a 2Dlayout view, can be synchronized during the update of the view in the drawing document. When the projection/section plane is modified in the 3D part, the view becomes out-dated in2D and will be updated during the view update process.

• Clipping Box user interface enhancements for selection of geometry to define box size. - It ispossible to select geometry in 3D or 2D view (point, line, plane, planar face, or edge) to easilydefine the limits of the 3D clipping object. Ship building customers, for instance, can selectplanes in the ship/plant grid for this definition.

CATIA - Interactive Drafting 1 (ID1)

• Elements visualization in specification tree (Fixtogether, 2D Component instances, andActive Sheet in blue) - This option makes objects defined during the 2D design process, suchas Fixtogether or 2D Component instances, visible in the specification tree of the drawingdocument objects. This update allows for easy selection, a contextual menu is provided, and the user can benefit from the cross-highlight between the 2D representation and thespecification tree.

• Broken hybrid constraint visualization - Geometric constraints that have a broken link to ageometric element generated from a 3D model are now visible in the graphic window, so thatthe user may gain an easier access to them and may destroy them if needed. A link is brokenwhen the generated element supporting the constraint disappears after a modification to the3D model's shape.

• Export Details to DXF Blocks - This feature makes data sharing in a MultiCAD context easierby improving the semantic information that is available after export. The export of a CATIA2D Component instance in AutoCAD DXF/DWG format bears more semantics, such as thedetail name, the ditto point, the layer of detail's entities, and the geometry types. For example, splines, nurbs, and ellipse are no longer converted into polylines.

• DXF export that supports AutoCAD 2004 and AutoCAD 2007 - The export of CATIA drawingentities allows the user to convert them and to generate DXF or DWG files compatible withAutoCAD 2004 and AutoCAD 2007 versions. This makes the export more consistent withthe import process, which can convert AutoCAD 2004, 2005, and 2006 entities in the V5R17version and AutoCAD 2007 entities in V5R18 version.

• Rigid position link for annotations - When the position of an annotation relative to its referenceis not intended to change, the user may fix it by imposing a rigid behavior on the position link.Since the relative position may no longer be modified by direct manipulation of the annotation, the rigid position link offers security against involuntary moves.

CATIA - 2D Layout for 3D Design 1 (LO1)

• Elements visualization in specification tree (Fixtogether, 2D Component instances, Use edges, and Active Sheet in blue) - This option makes objects defined during the 2D design process, such as Fixtogether or 2D Component instances, visible in the specification tree of the partdocument. This update allows for easy selection, a contextual menu is provided, and the usercan benefit from the cross-highlight between the 2D representation and the specification tree.

• Rigid position link for annotations - When the position of an annotation relative to its referenceis not intended to change, the user may fix it by imposing a rigid behavior on the position link.Since the relative position may no longer be modified by direct manipulation of the annotation, the rigid position link offers security against involuntary moves.

CATIA - 3D Functional Tolerancing & Annotation 1 (FT1)

• Display, query, filter, save as CGR, and 3D XML of FTA result features - Result annotationfeatures are light features (features with a small data size) generated by the conversion oftolerancing and annotation data coming from CATIA V6 or from a MultiCAD context. Like theregular annotations, these result annotations can be displayed, filtered, and saved in CGR or3D XML light formats.

• Save as 3D XML of CATProduct and CATProcess FTA data - The annotations included inCATProducts or CATProcesses can be saved in 3D XML light format. This format enables

Page 18: CATIA V5.19 broadens virtual design for real success

the user to review the annotations with the ENOVIA DMU Dimensioning & Tolerancing reviewproduct in V5 or with the CATIA Live FTA Review (LFT) product in V6.

• Upgrade of annotation set - This upgrade capability allows annotation sets created beforeV5R18 to follow geometry changes after a replace operation. When a Generative ShapeDesign (GSD) feature is replaced by another one, the FTA features of the upgradedannotation sets are impacted and update themselves in reaction to this change.

CATIA - Tooling Design 1 (TG1)

• User Component

– The set of icons used for components is predefined and is now dedicated to all the toolingprocesses. Components that are customized in house are represented by a U for Usericon. There is an extreme variety of components that a company can define and use.

– Users can now customize the various icons of the various user component templates. Thisenhancement enables the user to better understand and identify his own die design at firstglance on the specification tree.

– A new parameter named IconRef can be inserted by the user in the parameters ofa CATPart. This parameter allows the user to choose from the icons shown in thespecification tree. This parameter is a string parameter that contains the name of the bitmapfile of the icon. If the parameter is not defined, the default icon is selected during the ToolingDesign insertion of the component.

• Mold to CAM enhancement: Creation of technological results report

– The new command Display Technological Results (with MPA license) allows the user toaccess the Reporting of Die/Mold Technological Results report.

– Any user of Tooling Design 1 who has an MPA license can benefit from enhancedcapabilities for the Mold to CAM capability.

– A reporting command allows the user to create a report (*.csv) on the Technological Resultsexisting in a given die. The company can then use this report to define some in houseprocesses between the Design and the Manufacturing stage.

– This enhancement provides a powerful tool to control the integrity of the Die design, preventing costly iteration between design and manufacturing.

• ENOVIA SmarTeam integration: Management of editability on impacts

– To facilitate concurrent engineering, tooling interface files can be pre-defined. This featureallows each user to create his own tooling interface files in a specified manner withoutinterference with the tooling interface files used by another user.

– ENOVIA SmarTeam supports concurrent engineering by allowing a correct check-out (read/write status) of the elements each user would like to work on.

– The enhanced access control to tooling interface files helps to prevent data loss andunnecessary work when files have been checked out incorrectly.

CATIA - Sheetmetal Design 1 (SM1)

• Better process coverage with marking/engraving functionality

– Integration of unfolded curve in drawing

– Capacity to put a semantic on the unfolded curve feature, including marking, engraving, characteristic element or construction element.

– Ability to represent it in the drawing according a standard. This standard allows the userto make the parameter and the graphic properties visible according to the type (marking, engraving, or characteristic element) of the curve or its position.

• Design productivity is increased with powerful extrusion explode improvement.

– Explode mode allows the user to generate an associative wall on edge

– Accelerate the design by creating an extrusion

– Exploded extrusions allow the user to locally modify the design and maintain associativity

• Sheetmetal feature visualization in the DMU specification tree - This enhancement enablesthe user to correctly display the tree of a sheetmetal part in DMU. This ensures that allsheetmetal features will have:

– The correct icons

– The correct names

Page 19: CATIA V5.19 broadens virtual design for real success

– The correct aggregated features under them

CATIA - Structure Design 1 (SR1)

• Manipulator on Shape

– The Structure Design 1 (SR1) profile creation and edition command provides dialog controlsto manipulate (flip, rotate, change anchor point, etc.) the current profile. These controlsinclude:

-- Flip Manipulator: Used to flip the profile and is tied to the command's flip button.

-- Anchor Point Manipulator: Displays a matrix of 3D anchor points specific for a givenprofile. The active anchor point is displayed in red. Inactive anchor points are displayedin green. The user can click on a point to change the profile's anchor point. This control istied to the command's anchor point control.

-- Orient Manipulator: Allows the user to rotate the profile a given number of degrees(determined by the step angle in the command's angle control).

The size, location and orientation of each manipulator is dependant on the parentcommand. Each manipulator will change size as the window is resized. For example, if thewindow is resized and the profile is displayed larger the manipulator will also be displayedlarger.

– Coping Edition: Coping features can be created manually by using the Coping command onexisting SR1 plates and shapes or can be automatically created when using the StructurePiece Part Generator with Structure Functional Design (SFD) or Ship Structure Detaildesign (SDD) data. Therefore the coping edition will work on all coping features regardlessof their creation method. This new coping command will replace the old coping command. Italso adds the new capabilities of edition and deletion of copings.

– Support of Keep link with option: This option helps the client easily manage SR1 externallinks and reduce the number of external links saved into ENOVIA. This in turn should speedup loading of SR1 data from the database into the session.

Shape Design and Styling

CATIA - Generative Shape Design 1 (GS1)

• Canonical detection on Sweep. Users can activate the canonical detection for the sweepportion. This allows the user to use part of sweep geometry as input for other commands. As an example, a cylindrical sweep is now seen as a cylinder and can be re-used as such, thereby extending the usage of these geometries.

• Additional Knowledge Generative Shape Design evaluator - This new option extends thescope of Generative Shape Design feature creation via knowledge. New GSD featuresinclude:

– Projection along a direction

– Boundary

– Fill

– Invert

– Transformations

• Extends inputs of Points&Planes Repetition command - The additional element in the userinterface allows curves and points to be selected separately. This provides more flexibility andmakes the command more useable with a larger usage scope.

• Add preview button on Points&Planes Repetition command - This new preview mechanism onthe Points&Planes Repetition command saves valuable time on the try-error process.

• Large scale support - This is a new option for managing large scale numerical values inthe geometric modeler tolerance. This is particularly useful for power, process & petroleumindustry.

• Preview button is displayed on Planes Between command - This new preview mechanism onthe Planes Between command saves time on the try-error process.

• New behavior for drag-and-drop operation using reorder - This new behavior enables theuser to move a selected feature from one position to another in the product structure withoutusing the copy-and-paste operations that create temporary features. When the Drag And DropOperation using Reorder is complete:

Page 20: CATIA V5.19 broadens virtual design for real success

– The original feature remains the same from drag position to drop position.

– The feature name is no longer changed.

– The features that have the dragged and dropped feature as parent will update.

CATIA - FreeStyle Shaper 1 (FS1)

• Additional selection filter (trimmed/not trimmed) - This filter enables better productivity bymaking it possible to make multiple consecutive trap selections above geometry, withoutrequiring the user to reselect Trap Selection above geometry before each trap.

• Matching Constraint - This enhancement updated the matching constrain command to make itpossible to match 2 constrains on the same surface.

• Dress-Up - This option enables the user to define different appearances of elementscontained within a CATPart to improve the user's workflow and selection of geometry duringoperation. The different capabilities are listed below:

– Add display options for Apply Dress up for Colors, line, font, etc. on control points andsegmentation

– Switch Control Points on and off without needing to select geometry

– Dress-up scan and mesh capabilities

• Styling fillet - this option returns instant feedback from the Connect Checker Analysis featurewhen creating the fillet which is the deviation value for G0/G1/G2/G3 curvature for thoseoperations:

– Internal connections within ribbon (result fillet).

Machining

CATIA - Lathe Machining 1 (LG1)

• Mill turret management for lathe operations

– B-axis management for lathe operations - This enhancement allows the user the option ofdefining the turning tool axis corresponding to the B-Axis orientation without requiring a toolchange activity. This provides greater flexibility by enabling the user to specify the tool axison the turning operation editor itself, without requiring a redundant tool change activity.

– Tool axis flip management for lathe operations - This new option provides ability to machinedifferent areas (front and back areas of a part or part on a main spindle and part on acounter-spindle) using the same tool assembly. Only the tool orientation (inversion) differswhen machining the different areas or parts. The user will have the option to flip thetool assembly without requiring a tool change activity. This enables the user to have theflexibility to define the C-axis orientation on the machining operation editor itself, withoutactually requiring a redundant tool change activity.

• Automatic generation of TLAXIS between milling and turning operations - This highlightenables the user to:

– Output a ROTABL/0 statement every time there is a change-over from a turning operationto a milling operation.

– Output TLAXIS statement every time there is a change-over from a milling operation to aturning operation.

CATIA - Prismatic Machining 1 (PG1)

• Helical interpolation output for Circular Milling and Thread Milling operations - For circularmilling and thread milling machining operations which support helix tool motion, a helicalinterpolation instruction can now be generated in the output file. This helical interpolationinstruction can be used by post-processor programs to generate ISO code containing specifichelix instructions. This capability provides the user with better tool path quality on the NCmachine tool by using an optimized output statement in the program output file.

• Intermediate stock management - This option makes it possible to visualize the input and theoutput of intermediate stock for all machining operations. Also, it takes into account the stockin order to optimize and to compute a collision-free tool path.

• Multiple radial passes for thread and circular milling operations - This highlight allows theuser to create multiple passes (rough and finish) for thread milling and circular milling (helicalmode) and would provide the capability to create a spring pass. This prevents the need tocreate separate operations for the rough pass, the finish paths, and the spring pass. Now theuser can specify the paths in one operation.

• Multiple tool axis support in Point-to-Point operation - This highlight provides the ability toselect different tool axis for multiple points in one operation. This simplifies the process of thetool selection, allowing the user to select the tool axis without changing tabs.

• Sheetmetal feature visualization in the DMU specification tree - This enhancement enablesthe user to correctly display the tree of a sheetmetal part in DMU. This ensures that allsheetmetal features will have:

– The correct icons

– The correct names

– The correct aggregated features under them

CATIA - Composites Design 3 (CPD)

• XML File Generation - The export of the ply structure (geometry and stacking information)into an IGES or a DXF file allows external tools to lay or cut the plies efficiently during themanufacturing process.

• GVS for CATDrawing view management - Geometrical or manufacturing properties ofcomposites entities (ply/cut piece/core features) may appear in CATDrawing documents inaccordance with the generative view styles. Highlight shell, seed point, seed curve, contourthickness, color or name may be specified by the administrator.

• New ply book - In the drafting workbench, user can choose whether each sheet of this newply book will be associated to a single ply/cut piece, to a sequence, or to all cut-pieces. All theviews of the reference sheet are generated for each new ply in new sheets with the same viewproperties, position and links.

• Numerical analysis on zones - The numerical analysis command can be run on not only zonesor groups of zones, but also on plies. Using this option, the area, center of gravity, weight orfinal cost of a zone may be computed.

• NCF management - An NCF is a predefined material that assembles several layers ofcomposite materials. These materials will be used in ply as single material, but they will berecognized as several layers by commands that require it.

• Improvement in 'on the fly' composites information - Contextual information, such as number, sequence, material, or draping direction, is displayed locally when dragging the mouse abovecomposite elements in 3D or in the specifications tree.

• Limit contour group - A limit for a group of contours can be defined from the geometry ofa structural element (a stiffener or a stringer for instance). This limit feature is used as astart position to lay the first contour and to begin the staggering of the other ones. It enablesthe user to modify all plies where the same limit contour has been applied with the samestaggering value in one shot.

• Multi selection of edge of part (EOP) in Inner Mold Line (IML) and solid generation - It ispossible to select several EOP at the same time to generate the IML or the solid from plies.Since the computation is global to the complete Outer Mold Line (OML), time is saved byusing several EOPs in a single row.

• EOP skin swapping - The edges of a part may be projected onto the manufacturing surface, avoiding the need to project it piece by piece and to create manually a new projected edge ofpart.

• Drafting and FTA integration for composite features - Dedicated 3D annotations may be addedto a composite part. For instance, a core sample result may be associated to a feature on aselected point. The value displayed in the 3D annotation is associative: it will be updated eachtime the composite feature is updated.

• Skin swapping: elevation mode - Using the skin swapping command, the contours of a ply/plies group/stacking/sequence may be projected to a destination surface in an elevationmode. This elevation mode projects the contours perpendicular to the origin surface, and thestacking order of the contours may be inverted.

• Contour validation tool - A new 'check contour' panel, displaying the set of the selected plies, enables the user to check whether their contours present self-intersections or open contours. This applies to regular ply contours and to flat patterns too, if they exist.

• Enhancement in composites material management - It is now possible to specify a range ofnumerical values for each property of any material linked to the composite part. This rangebrings the flexibility required by the manufacturing process for these properties. The curedthickness, for instance, may vary due to the pressure applied during the molding process.

• Add material to take in consideration minimum tape length - The producibility and flattencommands have been enhanced in order to determine whether a ply or a cut-piece geometryfits into the given material roll-width.

• Associative unfold of composite part - The integration of Generative Shape Design (GSD)develop functions avoids manual interactions, especially in stacking flattening, and providesan associative flattening process, as well as an associative geometry transfer.

Summary of changes for V5.19

This release updates related operating system requirements.

Common hardware requirements

The following requirements are common to all operating systems supported by this release.Platform-specific requirements are specified in subsequent topics below.

• Required components and features

– Disk drive: An internal or external disk drive (minimum recommended size is 4 GB) isrequired to store program executables, program data, the user environment, and to supplypaging space. Installation of all CATIA V5 products requires 2.0 GB on Microsoft(R)Windows(R), 2.4 GB on AIX(R), 2.7 GB on HP-UX, and 2.3 GB on Solaris.

– Memory: 256 MB of RAM is the minimum recommended for all applications. 512 MB ofRAM is recommended for DMU applications on large assemblies and for the DigitizedShape Editor 2 (DSE) product. Requirements may be greater when large amounts of dataare used.

– Internal/external drives: A CD-ROM drive is required for program installation and for accessto the online documentation, which can optionally be downloaded to disk.

– Display: A graphics color display compatible with the selected platform-specific graphicsadapter. The minimum recommended size for usability reasons is 17 inches. Minimumresolution for Windows workstations is 1024 x 768 and 1280 x 1024 for UNIX(R)workstations. When selecting a graphics adapter, hardware texturing capability is stronglyrecommended when using CATIA V5 products that use texture mapping, in which case theamount of texture RAM has to be adequate for the number and complexity of textures to beused.

– Keyboard: A specific keyboard compatible with the selected installation locale may berequired for national language support.

– Pointing device: Three-button mouse. On Windows workstations, a two-button mousemay alternatively be used (the third button is emulated with a keyboard sequence). Thethree-button mouse is recommended for usability reasons. IntelliMouse (two buttons plus awheel instead of the third button) is an alternative to the three-button mouse on Windowsworkstations. The wheel acts as the middle button to allow additional manipulations, suchas panning and scrolling.

• Optional components and features: For CATIA P2 and P3, SpaceBall or SpaceMouse, inaddition to the standard mouse, can be used to perform graphic manipulations (zoom, pan, rotate). The required drivers are delivered with these devices. Support of these devices is alsoavailable with the DMU Navigator 1 and DMU Space Analysis 1 P1 products.

CATIA V5 general packaging principles

• A CATIA P1 product or a CATIA P1 configuration requires or must include (in the case ofconfigurations) CATIA - Object Manager 1 (CO1). P1 products can be used on P2 or P3,and in such cases, they operate with CATIA - Object Manager 2 (COM) or CATIA - ObjectManager 3 (CO3), respectively.

• A CATIA P2 product or a CATIA P2 configuration requires, or must include (in the case ofconfigurations), CATIA - Object Manager 2 (COM). P2 products can be used on P3, and insuch cases, they operate with CATIA - Object Manager 3 (CO3).

• CATIA - COM 1 to 2 Extension (C12) allows all P2 products to be added on to P1configurations. The C12 product effectively upgrades the P1 infrastructure (CO1) to the P2infrastructure (COM). The C12 product does not change the underlying P1 configuration;included products remain P1. The C12 product can be used as a shareable (C12) or add-on(C12) product.

• A CATIA P3 product or a CATIA P3 configuration requires or must include (in the case ofconfigurations) CATIA - Object Manager 3 (CO3). P1, P2, and P3 shareable and add-onproducts are available to P3 configurations as shareable or add-on products.

• License keys for CATIA configurations are acquired and released for the total configuration.

• The functions within a configuration cannot be shared.

• A configuration is required for each CATIA V5 seat.

• CATIA V5 add-on (AOP) and sharable products may require prerequisite products that arenot included in a standard purchased configuration. When a prerequisite product is notincluded in the selected standard configuration, both the AOP and its prerequisite productsmust be purchased and included as AOPs within a custom configuration. Prerequisites forshareable products can be satisfied by a standard configuration, by an AOP within a customconfiguration, or by a shareable product.

Use limitation applies

Yes, as implemented by the license management model described.

The license management model

CATIA V5 license management model CATIA controls the number of concurrent users ofa CATIA configuration or product, according to the number of license keys acquired for theconfiguration or product.

CATIA V5 delivers identical license management mechanisms on UNIX and Windowsenvironments, based on IBM License Use Management (LUM). The following licensemanagement principles apply:

• A CATIA V5 configuration (standard or custom) will require a license key. License keys forCATIA V5 configurations are acquired and released for the total configuration. The productswithin a configuration cannot be shared.

• Each CATIA V5 shareable product will require a license key, in addition to one for theprerequisite configuration and any prerequisite product, if applicable.

• In all cases, CATIA configuration license keys are acquired at the beginning of the processand are released at its termination.

• CATIA V5 add-on (AOP) and shareable products may require license keys for prerequisiteproducts that are not already included in a standard configuration. Prerequisites forshareable products can be satisfied by a standard configuration, by an AOP within a customconfiguration, or by a shareable product. However, because all add-on products are definedwithin one custom license key, any AOP prerequisites must be satisfied by either a standardconfiguration or by other AOPs purchased and defined within the same custom configuration.

CATIA V5 can be used in three license management modes: nodelock, with concurrent usage oflicense keys on a network, or concurrent offline license management.

Nodelock usage: The use of a local display is mandatory for CATIA V5 usage in nodelockmode. There is no limit to the number of CATIA V5 processes launched for a given license key(configuration or product). For instance, a user can launch the following simultaneous processes:

• A V5 interactive session

• A V5 process executed through an OLE container application

• Replay of macros recorded from captured sequences of V5 user interactions

In the nodelock mode of operation, only one CATIA license key per configuration and shareableproduct can be registered per machine, and only one CATIA user can run at a time on thatmachine. If multiple license keys per configuration or shareable product, or multiple users on asingle machine, are required, refer to the following text.

Page 57: CATIA V5.19 broadens virtual design for real success

IBM United States Software Announcement208-218

IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 57

Concurrent usage: A user on one machine on one display uses one license key perconfiguration or shareable product used, regardless of the number of processes. If the displaychanges, then an additional license key is taken for the corresponding process.

Dynamic license management: CATIA shareable product license keys can be acquired andreleased during the session. (The ability to acquire and release licenses is not available forconfigurations.) Shareable license keys acquired at the beginning of the session cannot bereleased before the end of the session; only license keys dynamically granted upon user requestduring the session can be released during the session.

Concurrent offline license management: A concurrent license key control technique isavailable via the LUM server.

It gives CATIA, ENOVIA DMU, DELMIA, and RADE applications running on a Windows laptopthe ability to disconnect from the license key server for a specific period of time. During thecheckout period, the server license key is unavailable for use by another concurrent user. This feature is designed to add additional flexibility to a user's work environment. It is offeredto accommodate short-term travel needs and collaboration while away from a fixed officeenvironment or server connection. All ICA terms and conditions, including cross-border licensingterms, are unchanged, and users will check-out and check-in license keys at their home server, where rules and procedures are controlled by LUM.

Note to users of the following ENOVIA SmarTeam-branded CATIA integration products:

• SmarTeam - CATIA Team PDM Configuration (TDM)

• SmarTeam - CATIA Integration Product (CAI)

• SmarTeam - CATIA Web Team PDM Configuration (TDW)

These ENOVIA SmarTeam products do not support dynamic or concurrent offline licensemanagement. Licenses for these products are acquired dynamically when the function is invokedfrom CATIA and may not be released until the CATIA session is ended.

Educational allowance available

The standard educational allowance does not apply to CATIA V5 and CATIA WLS V5 products. However, these products are available in several configurations under the CATIA HigherEducation Academic Training (HEAT) program. Refer to Education support section for details.

Program Services

Program Services offer a method of reporting code-related problems for CATIA V5 and WLSlicensed software products. Program Services are available electronically using the problemsubmission process at the PLM Technical Support Web site at:

http://www.ibm.com/software/applications/plm/support/

Note: In order to use this facility, you must use an IBM ID which has associated to it thelicensed IBM customer number under which the product was purchased. If you have not yetobtained an IBM ID, visit

http://www.ibm.com/account/profile/

If you have not yet associated the licensed IBM customer number to your IBM ID, you will beprompted to do so when accessing the problem submission facility.

When using Program Services, the problem report is submitted via the PLM Technical SupportWeb site; all subsequent communications will be via email. The response time for these problemreports, regardless of the severity, will be within two business days. All communications must bein English.

Not all options of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) technical support e-services areavailable in all countries.

If the problem reported is not determined to be a code-related problem, the customer will beinformed that work will continue on it provided the customer has ECSR (Electronic CustomerSupport Representative) enhanced support (reference PRPQ 5799-C88) with the CATIA supportfeature. Enhanced support for WLS is included in the base product's feature code; no separateenhanced support is required.

For additional information about the enhanced support contract and other available PLM servicesofferings visit

http://www.ibm.com/software/applications/plm/support/

Click on the "ECSR enhanced support details" link or contact your PLM marketing representativeor authorized IBM Business Partner for more information.

Preventive Service is delivered through the next release of CATIA V5 products. The new releasealso includes corrections to problems, depending on the time of their submission and theirseverity.

During the Program Services period, Corrective Service for CATIA V5 releases is deliveredthrough service packs on a regular basis. A service pack includes corrections for BlockingProblems in production systems reported on this release and all corrections available for allcomponents at the time it is built. Service packs are provided at the same time for all platformscurrently supported. Each service pack supersedes the previous one and may be installed ontop of the released level or on top of a previous service pack. (The exception is WLS productswhere Corrective Service is provided in the next release of the product. No maintenance for WLSproducts is provided in the service packs.)

Customers may request a correction via a service pack for Blocking Problems. A BlockingProblem is defined as:

• A problem that stops production: The customer is currently using the level for which a fix isrequested in a production environment.

• A problem that prevents migration: The customer must provide the migration plan.

• A problem that halts testing of a given level: A fix will allow customer to continue the testing.

• Installation problem: A problem that prevents the customer from installing or using the product.

• Regression: Problems reported as regressions may be due to an operation that was beingperformed erroneously or created incorrect data with a previous release and the currentrelease no longer permits these operations. Therefore, each problem reported as a regressionmust be evaluated. True regressions will be handled as Severity 1 problems.

Note: Customers experiencing problems with IBM License Use Management (LUM) productswhen used with CATIA V5 products may report these problems through PLM product support.Note this only applies when the LUM product is being used in conjunction with a CATIA V5product and the CATIA product is within its support period. LUM products are not included in theenhanced support offering; LUM problems will receive the Program Services level of support andmust be submitted via the Problem Reporting process at the PLM Technical Support Web site at

http://www.ibm.com/software/applications/plm/support/

Program Services will be provided for this release of CATIA and WLS V5 products (V5R19) untilJune 3, 2011. After that date, should it be necessary for customers who are up-to-date on theirAnnual License Charge (ALC) payments to extend support, a support extension will be availablefor an additional fee.

This extension is for one year only, with no possibility of renewal, and will be limited to supportof critical situations found in production running on an announced, supported environment andsubject to the availability and maintainability of Operating Systems, databases, middlewareand hardware (clients and servers) at the time the critical situation is reported. Critical situationmeans a Severity 1 defect that is blocking production and has no workable alternative to unblockproduction.

In order to insure uninterrupted support, support extension requests should be submitted byDecember 3, 2010 through the customer's marketing team or Business Partner.

This extension of support will not constitute an alternative to the customer's migration to thelatest release or version of the installed products and therefore the customer is obligated to havea documented and viable migration plan to the latest release or version in order to obtain anextension of support.
