THRUSTOR OPERATED BRAKES “TYPE – MTOB/FTOB”.

Elektromag Thrustor brake are suitable for operation on 415 VAC, 3 PH.50HZ.Any other AC

voltage and frequency can be supplied on request at extra cost. The brake is heavy duty designed

to withstand the severe and arduous duty conditions demanded by heavy duty machinery required

in the bulk material handling industry,EOT cranes ,Hoists,etc.The braking torque is generated by

compression spring and the brake is released by the thrustor.The thrustor transmits useful thrust

to the brake shoe thereby releasing the brake. When power supply is switch off, the brake

smoothly applies because the hydraulic thrust acting against the spring pressure is gradually

reduced.

GENERAL FEATURES OF ELEKTROMAG THRUSTOR OPERATED BRAKESTYPE-MTOB

SHOES – The brake shoes are self aligning type and are fitted with best quality brake lining with

large cooling surface. The lining is designed for high temperature resistance thereby preventing

the shoes getting heated up. The linings normally consist of asbestos interwoven with brass wire.

Non-Asbestos (Asbestos-Free) lining can be supplied as optional at extra cost.

COMPRESSION SPRINGS – The compression springs are made of best quality spring steel and

are properly heat treated to give correct hardness. The compression springs provide thenecessary working pressure to apply the brake when the power is switched off .The thrustor exerts

a force against the spring pressure and releases the brake when the power is supplied to the

thrustor.

BRAKE LEVER AND BASE - These components are manufactured from high quality fabricated

steel to withstand the heavy application demanded by the brake.

ELECTRO HYDRAULIC THRUSTOR - The AC Electro Hydraulic Thrustor consists of a tank filled

with oil and having centrifugal at the bottom of the tank. The pump is driven by a 3-Phase

Fractional HP squirrel cage of class F insulated continuously rated rotor and stator. The specially

designed radiant impeller permits operation of the pump in either direction of rotation(forward and

reverse).The stator and rotor is mounted on top of the oil tank and is suitable for 720 switching

operation per hour.Thrustor confirming to IP-65 and adjustable timelag on both up and down

strokes can be supplied at extra cost.

HAND RELEASE LEVER – A lever for manual release of the brake in case of power failure can

be supplied at extra cost.

BRAKE SELECTION PROCEDURE - The braking torque is derived by the below mentioned

formulae and then match with the braking torque given in the chart.

Braking Torque in KGM = HPX 71620 OR KW X 975RPM X 100 RPM

Note: For Hoisting / Winch application Safety factor of 50% should be added to the braking torque.

SALENT FEATURES OF E/M THRUSTOR OPERATED BRAKE :

THRUSTOR TYPE ET-275(H) CAN BE REPLACED WITH THRUSTOR TYPE ET-240/M(D) BUT PHYSICAL

APPEARANCE AND DIMENSIONS OF THRUSTOR WILL BE SAME AS ET-240( C ).

THRUSTOR CAN BE SUPPLIED WITH ADJUSTABLE TIME LAG ARRANGEMENT FOR DELAYED

RESPONSE TIME AT EXTRA COST AND A CAPTION “TL” WILL BE ADDED AT THE END OF THE

THRUSTOR TYPE.

EXAMPLE : FOR ET-240 WITH TIME LAG THE THRUSTOR CODE IS ET-240 /TL (ALL OTHER

PARAMETERS WILL REMAIN SAME AS PER ABOVE TABLES).

ALL THRUSTORS ARE OF CLASS-F INSULATION.

ALL THRUSTORS ARE SUPPLIED WITH IP-44 DEGREE OF PROTECTION AND ON REQUEST CAN BE

SUPPLIED WITH IP-55/65 PROTECTION AT EXTRA COST.

CANOPY MUST BE PROVIDED BY CUSTOMER FOR ALL BRAKES TO PROTECT THE THRUSTOR

FROM DIRECT AND STAGNENT RAIN WATER AS ENVISAGED IN STACKER –RECLAIMER OR WAGON

TIPPLER, TRPPER,ETC., WHICH ARE ALWAYS USED AND PARKED IN THE OPEN YARD.

LIMIT SWITH - ALL BRAKES CAN BE SUPPLIED WITH LIMIT SWITCH , AT EXTRA COST , TO INDICATE

BRAKE SHOES ARE COMPLETELY OPENED AND TO INTERLOCK WITH THE MAIN DRIVE MOTOR SO

THAT THE MAIN MOTOR STARTS ONLY WHEN THE BRAKE SHOES ARE COMPLETELY OPENED.ALL

WIRING AND INTERLOCKING SHOULD BE DONE BY CUSTOMER AT SITE.

HAND RELEASE LEAVER – IT CAN BE SUPPLIED AT EXTRA COST TO RELEASE THE BRAKE

MANUALLY IN CASE OF EMERGENCY DUE TO POWER CUT / FAILURE.
