History The village of Cashton started in

1892. A man named Mr. Cash

built buildings here because the

railroad ran through.

The building used to be a bank. It

has a vault in it. There are a lot of

old books in the vault.

Goods or Services? The village office provides ser-

vices to residents of Cashton.

People can go there to:

• Pay water bill

• Pay tax bill

• Ask questions about Cashton

• Contact police

• Attend meetings

people a day come in to pay

their taxes • There are 1105 people who live

in Cashton • They have meetings to make decisions about Cashton

• Cashton became a village in

1892

Glossary Village: a place with few homes;

smaller than a town.

Vault: a safe room or compartment

to keep valuables or money.

Residents: people who live in a par-

ticular place.

Elections: the act of choosing or

electing. The election to choose the

next President is in November.

Utility: a service that is provided to

the public. Telephone, water, and

electricity main utilities.

About the Project

The Cashton Elementary First Graders

visited many places in order to learn

about the goods and services our com-

munity provides to the people who live

here. A huge thanks to all of the busi-

nesses we contacted who graciously al-

lowed us to visit and learn. If you have

questions about this project or would
