History: The Cashton Building Supply opened in the
early 1900’s and was named Cashton Lumber
Company. Kevin Kirking has owned it for
almost 30 years.
5
Goods or Services? The Cashton Building Supply offers us goods.
They sell lumber, nails, screws and many other
supplies for building.
They also offer us a service by building decks,
sheds, garages, dog houses, and homes.
6
What You Can Find/See
• Lumber
• Screws
• Nails
• Skid steer
• Fork lift
• Truck for hauling lumber
7
Photos and Captions
The forklift carries wood from the truck to
be piled in a shed until the customer
buys it.
8
Using Math The salesmen add up the cost of
supplies. They count money.
They also use math by adding the
weights of lumber together and
they use a tape measure to find
lengths of wood.
9
Reading and Writing The salesmen read labels on the
goods that they sell. They also
read and write down the orders
for their customers.
10
What If You Worked Here? You have to be friendly and nice.
You have to smile at your custom-
ers and use eye contact. You
need to be able to communicate
with your co-workers and your
customers.
You also need computer skills and
to be a logical thinker.
Henry would like to own the business.
Kylie would help the customers.
Chase would like to build a house.
Zack would like to build a giant building.
Hunter would like to drive the fork lift.
Hannah would like to be a saleswoman.
Alannah would like to sell lumber to customers.
Brayden would like to drive a skid steer.

About the Project
The Cashton Elementary First Graders
visited many places in order to learn
about the goods and services our com-

here. A huge thanks to all of the busi-
nesses we contacted who graciously al-
lowed us to visit and learn. If you have
questions about this project or would
like to be included in the future, please
contact one of the following teachers
at the Elementary School (608-654-
