I understand that I am not covered under Georges River Council’s Workers’ Compensation policy, as I am not an ‘employee’ [within the meaning of the Workers’ Compensation Act NSW 1987]. 2. I understand that I may be entitled (subject to the facts and circumstances that may give rise to any claim) to make a claim for personal injury under Council’s public liability insurance policy, or, I could obtain my own relevant insurances at my expense. 3. I further understand that as a volunteer that Georges River Council has a duty to reasonably supervise me but has no ability nor financial resource to continually supervise me, and, that it is my obligation to ensure that my own methods as a volunteer constitute a safe system of (voluntary) work. If I have difficulties with any task I undertake as a volunteer I can choose to: Not perform the task, and/or, Request further instruction as to the task and/or, Request that an employee of Georges River Council perform the task. 4. I understand that I am neither a representative nor agent of Council and take personal responsibility for any representations to any member of the public in relation to Council and its activities. 5. I understand that I will be given an Work Health and Safety Induction, and that I will attend and agree to adhere to the principles of that Induction to the best of my ability. 6. 7. I will take full responsibility for my actions and follow the Community Garden - Gardener Guidelines and the Community Garden - Charter. A copy of both documents has been provided to me.

8. I have read and understood the shared vision and objectives of the Community Garden, which I also share, and agree to abide by the code of conduct in order to preserve a harmonious, safe and happy environment for all.

GARDENER AGREEMENTThe purpose of this agreement is to ensure a common vision and direction for the Community Garden by establishing, at the outset, each new gardener has personal aims and objectives that are in accordance with those of other gardeners. In this

process of decisionmaking that serves the interests of all gardeners. The agreement sets out the standards of conduct expected of gardeners so that the experience will be personally fullfilling and socially harmonious.

Prospective gardeners should read the document carefully before signing as members, so that they have time to consider whether they are prepared to comply with its requirements. By signing this document you signify your willing compliance with its provisions and your agreement to follow agreed uponprocesses for decision-making and conflict resolution.

SHARED PROJECT VISIONThe Community Garden will be a vibrant community centre, capably, cooperatively and sustainably managed and an integral part of the local community and environment. Creating a focal point for people to come together, the garden will reclaim the local village centre that once served as a meeting place for local families. Well-known by reputation it will be a place that people want to visit, and will be well utilised by a wide range of groups within the area as an educational resource. A shared, friendly and relaxing space, regularly frequented by busy pottering gardeners, the garden will be a community asset to

be proud of, producing an abundant variety of vegetables, fruits and flowers to be shared by the gardeners or sold to the local community

SHARED PROJECT OBJECTIVESThe garden will serve as a place where:• The local community can grow healthy organic produce,

working the soil and harvesting crops together;

• Community arts and cultural activities are held, including music, sculpture and art forms of various kinds;

• Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate, facilitating the development of an inclusive, caring and diverse community;

• Social and recreational life is valued, carefully designed common areas provide opportunities for informal interaction and regular activities and meals encourage people to relax, chat and make friends;

• Gardeners learn from each other and then share their skills with the local community, providing workshops and activities for local schools, childcare centres, community groups and residents;

• Well thought out organisational systems and procedures, including regular meetings, ensure the smooth running of the garden and clear lines of communication are carefully maintained;

• The design is in keeping with the nature of the site and the surrounding natural environment, is accessible to all and incorporates a harmonious blend of shared and individualplots, native areas, fruit trees, vegetables, herbs and flowers;

• Community and neighbourhood relations are fostered so people can get to know each other and learn to work together; and Best practice sustainable gardening methods are showcased, including those that are organic, low-input, highly-productive and water-wise, and understanding and awareness of sustainability is fostered in the local community.

PRIVACY AND PERSONAL INFORMATION PROTECTION POLICYIn completing this form you will be prompted to supply information that is personal information for the purposes of the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998. The supply of this information is voluntary. If you cannot provide, or do not wish to provide the information sought, the Council may be unable to process your request.
