Welcome to the Carolina Composting and Organics Recycling Council’s

Carolina Composting and Resource Guide! This updated guide is intended to help you locate compost, mulch,

and other types of recycled organic materials in North and South Carolina. The increase in the numhcr of yard waste facilities operating few years- mostly owned and operated by the public sector-is a clear response to the 1993 landfill bans on yard waste in the both states. Although most material was given away or sold, 38 percent o f the yard trimmings processed was stockpiled on site, unused.

In producing this guide, CCORC hopes to encourage the use of recycled organic products by explaining where they are available and aid in developing a demand for thcse products. We do not endorse any particular producer in this book. Individuals should contact the producer directly concerning materials.
