Marketing & Outreach Committee Meeting October 27, 2016 STATUS REPORTS

1) Talent Center Update and Power Point—Brenda Chrisman updated the committee on the grand opening of the Talent Center on September 14th. We have added staff to our business services team to work with the employers and they are reaching out to employers and introducing them to the Talent Center and the services we can provide in helping them find professional and upper level candidates. We are getting positive feedback from the students and the professional career candidates. We are continuing to work with CF to increase the engagement with the students and upcoming graduates. Talent Center staff attended the OHRMA meeting last week to promote the service to employers. Rich Feehan reviewed the attached Power Point and updated the committee on staff efforts to reach out to professionals in EFM and pulling resumes to contact those candidates and vet(soft skills, resume, social media) them for referral. Pat Reddish asked if once there is a good supply of quality candidates if we might be able to host a lunch for OHRMA at the Talent Center to show them the facility and walk them through the portal. We will look at maybe January or February for this to allow us to get through the December graduates and balance both the employer and career seeker sides. Becky Magwood indicated that being able to enter the requirements for a position into the portal would save her time in the future when filling a position as the information for each position would already be there.

2) Talent Pipeline Update—Rusty reported that staff has met with public school board members in all three counties to share our ideas for the Career Awareness and determine what tech courses are offered at the schools. This is challenging as two of the three counties have newly elected superintendents. Rusty and Brenda are working to make sure that they know about these programs. Rusty met with Josh Wooten in Citrus County to discuss soliciting manufacturers and other sector employers in the area to participate in our video program. Laura has been pushing these videos on our website and social media. Rusty recently discussed the Career Pathways at the CEP meeting and stressed this for IT jobs. The Ocala Marion County CEP already has this on the plan for next year. The FPRA is looking for a speaker for their meeting next August. They have reached out to Mike Rowe’s management as he is a strong proponent of teaching trades to our youth. The FPRA are not authorized to pay for a speaker so we have asked several area business leaders if they might have an interest in sponsorship of any fees for this. Becky asked if we would be able to record the event for play at the schools or on their web sites. We will keep you posted if they are able to make this happen.

3) Outreach/Communications Report—Laura Byrnes reviewed some of the information

in the attached report. She has provided it in a new format that is easier to read. Laura also let us know about the Business Development Sales Kit that was created in conjunction with other CareerSource areas and using CareerSource Florida Co-op funds. We will mail one out to each board member. We are working on making these sales kits branded for the Talent Center. To further support the Career Pathways project Laura will transition her bi-weekly column in the Citrus Chronicle to a career awareness venue.

USER PROFILE

TalentCenter.org allows professionals and interns to create in-depth users profiles which create an opportunity for them to market themselves to employers in a new way.

Users can create or upload a resume. After approval in the system, the resume becomes available to employers seeking vetted talent.

The Resume Builder tool guides users through building a basic resume they can use to share and network with employers. Additionally, users are encouraged with take advantage of Talent Center’s “brick” services, including one-on-one resume coaching with a Certified Resume Specialist or Certified Professional Resume Writer.

SEARCH OPENINGS TalentCenter.org users can seek out openings and opportunities posted by verified employers seeking vetted talent. Users can search by industry keyword or industry tags to locate positions in their chosen fields of interest. Opportunities are limited to those seeking vetted, professional talent. Each position has been selected and closely reviewed by Business Development staff prior to posting.
