thThe 9 Indian Youth Science Congress will be held at Career Point University, Hamirpur (H.P.). Jointly organized by Career Point University, M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, SRM University and Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, the congress aims to provide a platform for young students and researchers to present their research work and discuss priority issues in enabling science and technology applications for human welfare. The young students will have an opportunity to interact with a galaxy of eminent scientists and policy experts in the field of Science and Technology.
Who should participate:
Participation is invited from young research scholars and students (B.Sc./B.Tcch/ M.Sc / M.Tech / Research Fellows / Post Doc) to present their work. The sessions will grouped into Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Food and Nutrition, and Societal Development. Interested participants may submit abstracts of their papers, in any of this area of research. Students and scholars who are not presenting their work can also register as observers without submitting any abstract.
How to Participate:
Interested participants are requested to send the following on or before 22 Fbruary 2017 to the “Organising Secretary, IYSC 2018, M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, Third Cross Street, Institutional Area, Taramani, Chennai – 600 113” or e-mail to [email protected]. Please send your participation with the following details.
• One page abstract (not applicable for observers) by email.
• Fill in Registration Form which can be downloaded at www.mssrf.org, www.cpuh.in,
www.srmuniv.ac.in, and www.rgniyd.gov.in
• Registration fee as Demand Draft (DD) / Electronic Transitions drawn in favour of The
Indian Youth Science Congress Association, payable at Chennai.
Authors, whose abstracts are selected for Oral/Poster Presentations will be intimated by
Registration Fees:

Students : Rs. 400
Travel: Participants are requested to make their own arrangements for travel.
Accommodation: Free accommodation in guest houses of the University will be arranged for registered delegates based on availability and on first-come-first serve basis.

Essay Competition:
A key feature of this edition of Youth Science Congress will be an essay competition among the students on “22 February 2017”. Interested participant are requested to submit their write up by email to [email protected], with a maximum word limit of 1500. A certificate from one of your faculty members should accompany the entries stating that these are original writings of the person submitting the entry.
Ten best entries will be selected and provided an opportunity to present their views in the plenary session. These selected students will be provided free registration and accommodation and travel support for participation in the event. Also, these select essays will be featured in the proceedings as a separate section.
M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation
M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) was registered in 1988 as a non-profit Trust. MSSRF is doing research in the following five areas: Coastal Systems Research, Biodiversity and Biotechnology, Ecotechnology and Sustainable Agriculture, Reaching the Unreached and Education, Communication, Training and Capacity Building. th9 Indian Youth Science Congress in Hamirpur(HP)– Call for paper
submissions
Chennai, October 10,2017: The 9th Indian Youth Science Congress (IYSC) will be held from March
2018 at Career Point University, Hamipur (HP). The conference is an annual event that provides an
opportunity for young researchers to present their work. This year the theme is "Role of young
scientist in developing new India", that focuses on food security in the Climate Change context.
thThe 9 edition is jointly organized by Career Point University, Hamipur M S Swaminathan Research
Foundation, SRM University and Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development. The event is
open to students and researchers in the fields of Genetic Resources & Climate Change, Carbon Sinks,
Early Warning Signals, Natural Resource Management and Traditional Wisdom.
Young students and researchers are invited to submit their solutions using science and
technology. The last date for submission of papers and for registration is February 22, 2018 at
Student accommodation for the conference will be provided by the organizers. Details of IYSC can be

Youth constitute a major chunk of the population in our country. So it is important to recognize and
facilitate their lateral learning. In this context that Prof M S Swaminathan took the lead in setting up the
IYSC for exchange of ideas. This annual event has completed seven editions in different parts of the th
country with several hundred students participating in each edition. In 2017, the 8 edition of the IYSC
was held in University of Mumbai, Maharashtra

India is a land of the youth with more than sixty percent of the
population of 1.1 billion falling under the age of thirty-five. The
opportunities for education in science and technology are
growing. Our young scientists are making a mark in many
areas of technology like biotechnology, space, atomic energy,
information and communication, etc. Increasing number of
IITs and Technical Universities are being established. There
are also many Women's and Rural Universities as well as
Home Science Colleges. There are nearly sixty Agricultural,
Veterinary and Fisheries Universities. Universities also exist
in the field of Forestry. The time is, therefore, opportune to
provide our young scholars and scientists an opportunity for
sharing their views on how our country can progress not only
in technology development but also in dissemination. thTherefore, the 9 INDIAN YOUTH SCIENCE CONGRESS
(IYSC) is being organized by M.S. Swaminathan Research
Foundation, Career Point University, Hamipur, Himachal
Pradesh, SRM University and Rajiv Gandhi National Institute
of Youth Development to provide a national level forum for the
young research scholars and students. The venue is Career
Point University, Hamipur, Himachal Pradesh. On behalf of

Ø The First Indian Youth Science Congress was held from June 5-7 at the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute for Youth Development, Sriperumbudur. The focal theme for the Congress was “Youth and Shaping the Future of Innovations in Science for Societal Needs”
ØSecond Indian Youth Science Congress was held The from June 26 -28 at the SRM University. The focal theme for the Congress was “Science & Society”.
Ø Indian Youth Science Congress was held The Third from November 3-5, 2011 at NASC Complex, New Delhi. The focal theme for the Congress was “Youth and Agenda 21: Shaping a Sustainable Future”.
Indian ØThe Fourth Youth Science Congress was held from November 9 - 11, 2012 at Vasantrao Deshpande Sabhagruh Hall, Nagpur. The focal theme for the Congress was “Young Scientists and Shaping India's Future”.
The ØFifth Indian Youth Science Congress was organized by M.S. Swaminathan Resarch Foundation during December 6 - 9, 2013 at Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal. The focal theme for the Congress was “Leading Mind into Ever-widening Thought and Action”.
The ØSixth Indian Youth Science Congress was held from 19 – 21 January 2015 at Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. The focal theme for the Congress was “Science and the Zero Hunger Challenge”.
The SeventhØ Indian Youth Science Congress was held from 26 - 28 February 2016 at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The focal theme for the Congress was “Young Scientists & The United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals”.
The Eighth Indian Ø outh Science Congress was held Yfrom 16 - 18 February 2017 at University of Mumbai, Maharashtra. The focal theme for the Congress was “Food for All in the Anthropocene Era”.
