Career – Chosen Profession for your life. Requires a willingness to get the training needed to build your skills for the future.
A career is the work a person does. It is the sequence of jobs that an individual has held throughout his or her working life E.g. occupation of nursing.
Career planning what’s that??
Career Planning aims at identifying personal skills, interest, knowledge and other features; and establishes specific plans to attain specific goals.
“Career planning consists of activities and actions that you take to achieve your individual career goals”.
How important is career planning? People leave an organization due to lack of career

Begin by asking yourself the following questions:
Where am I at now? Where do I want to be? What do I want out of a
job or career? What do I like to do? What are my strengths? What is important to me?

Values
Where do I start? Think about where you are at, where you want to go and how you are going to get there.
What are my interests? Explore your work interests. What are my skills? Explore your abilities. What is important now? Clarify what is important to
you in your work and your life. What else do I need to think about? Think about the
other factors that will affect your work and learning decisions.
2. Finding out Explore occupations that
interest you and ask yourself how do my skills and interests match up with these occupations?
Where are the gaps? What options do I have to gain
these skills or qualify for these occupations?
What skills do I need? Where is the work?
3. Making decision Ask yourself: What are my best work/training options? How do they match with my skills, interests and values? How do they fit with the current labour market? How do they fit with my current situation and
responsibilities? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each
option? What will help and what will hinder me? What can I do about it?
4. Taking Action Begin by asking yourself: What actions/steps will help me achieve my work,
training and career goals? Where can I get help? Who will support me?
