2. CTE consultant, Dotty Oelkers, hired to review programs and 5-year strategic plan was developed/presented to school board.
3. National ACTE meeting Dec. 2006– attendance at Career Pathways seminar by V. Wehring, J. Nava, M. Ziegenhals, and T. Holub
4. Development of LCISD Career Pathways core group with those attending ACTE meeting and E. Teran – Spring 2007

work with D. Oelkers on how to begin CTE portion of Achieve Texas – Spring 2007
6. Group of LCISD teachers, administrators, counselors visit Leander, Deer Park and Aldine concerning their district’s process and implementation of pathways–M. Ziegenhals, J. Nava, K. McCune, J. Haines, P. Brown, T. Lindsey, C. Aufdembrink, V. Wehring, V. Bedo, D. Koonce
Finally,7. Mr. Teran, Dr. Randle and all
secondary administrators had a meeting to discuss our findings about what other district’s are doing concerning pathways in July 2007. A decision was to have a meeting in August to learn more about Leander.
8. Video conference was held with Leander ISD regarding their 20-year implementation of pathways. A ‘to-do’ list was developed, subcommittees were determined, and another meeting scheduled for administrators.
What is the charge of this group?
As a subcommittee, we are:• To begin to pull all LCISD courses
into the 16 federal career pathways and subdivide the pathways into workable ‘steps’ for our students.
• To begin to define the possibilities for our students using this type of passport/step system

Recommended Program (26 Credits): Students must add 1 credit in Technology Applications, ½ credit in Communication Applications, 2 credits of the same foreign language, and 1 credit in fine arts. Math must include Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. Science must include Biology and 2 credits from a) IPC, b) Chemistry and c) Physics or Principles of Technology.
Advanced Program (26 Credits): Additional requirements (over Recommended) include a 4th credit in Mathematics, to include Precalculus; Science credits must include Biology, Chemistry and Physics; and as part of the 26 credits, a minimum of 2 credits must be from advanced courses (i.e. Pre-AP, AP, and/or IB).
Distinguished Achievement Program -DAP (26 Credits): Additional requirements (over Recommended) include a 3rd credit in the same foreign language & 4 advanced measures as explained in course catalog.
A Minimum High School Graduation Plan (26 credits) is available, however, this requires that you see your counselor for discussion of this plan. Pre-AP/IB, College Board Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate courses may be substituted for requirements in appropriate areas.
