Beingaworkerwillbeinterconnectedwithotherrolesyouplayinlife.Examplesofrolesthatareaffectedbyyourcareercouldincludebeingaparent,acommunitycitizen,astudent,arecreationist.Yourcareerreachesbeyondbeingawageearnerinyourchosenoccupation.Forexample,aneasywaytoseehowyourchoiceofanoccupationaffectsyourfuturerolesistoconsiderthefollowingscenario.Ifyouweretobeawageearner,parent,andstudentthenclearlyyouroccupationalincomemustbesufficienttopayfortheexpensesincurredintheseotherroles.Mostpeopleareprimarilyinvolvedwithtwoorthreerolesatatime.Whichrolesyouarefocusingondependsuponyourageandlifestage.Forexample,incollege,yourprinciplerolesmaybeasstudentandrecreationist.Laterinlifeyourprinciplerolesmaybeasworkerandparent.Thepointisthatthroughoutyourlifeyouwillplayacombinationofwork,leisure,study,homemakingandcitizenrolesthatareintermixed.Thereforewhenyoumakedecisionsaboutyourcareer,youshouldtakeintoconsiderationtheeffectofthesecareerdecisionsonyourotherareasofyourlife.
