11th Grade PDE StandardsThe PDE sets forth standards for districts to meet in regards to

Career Education

Districts determine how they will meet these standards

Sometimes standards are integrated as part of the regular curriculum

Sometimes School Counselors are used to present the materials and information

If the standards are not integrated as part of the regular curriculum, they may be offered as a separate course that is

• By 11th Grade in each domain students must meet certain standards

Students must:

• Relate interests, abilities and aptitudes to specific careers and analyze whether they have the skill set for the career of interest.

• Understand how global changes affect career options

Schools must:

Schools must provide opportunities for students to explore career options

Careers should relate to skills, abilities and interests

What are my options?

Student must know their career options and be able

to justify the choice they wish to pursue

Students must learn how changes in the workplace translate into new jobs

The school is a resource for career preparation and students must learn what the school can do to prepare them for work

Students need to know what to do to prepare for their career

Create plan of education

Create an individualized career plan and portfolio
