Capital Sustentable (CAPSUS) is a mission-oriented boutique consulting firm, established in 2009, specialized in sustainability issues in the energy, environmental and urban sectors. We understand sustainability as a philosophy that aims at developing a continuous improvement in environmental, economic and social terms. We solve questions with grounded innovative solutions that foresee a better future for coming generations.

CAPSUS works in the development of infrastructure projects that comply with the Mexican environmental regulations ensuring their economic performance and social viability, needed to make the project a reality. Additionally, in renewable energy projects, it participates in the research, design and management phases.

CAPSUS also collaborates with local governments and international institutions in the design, evaluation and implementation of public policies. In order to do so, we develop tools that facilitate the decision making process while creating consensus among different actors.

Guillermo Velasco Partner

Guillermo Velasco is a graduate of Engineering in Physics and holds a Master of Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University. He has over 15 years of experience in the environmental and public policy sector, serving as a Chief of Staff in the Federal Senate, acting later as a federal and local deputy and as the Secretary of Environment for the State of Mexico. During this time, he promoted legislation regarding environmental and energy issues, and policies on air quality, waste management, public space infrastructure and natural conservation. In 2009 he co-founded CAPSUS and participated for six years as Program Coordinator at Centro Mario Molina where he coordinated the air quality, transport and urban development teams.

Ricardo Ochoa Partner

Ricardo has a background in building energy simulation: he holds a Master in Science in Renewable Energy and is a Phd candidate in energy. Ricardo’s main area of expertise is energy efficiency and climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies in the built environment. His latest work, as project leader at Centro Mario Molina, is mainly focused in developing tools to compare land use and urban policy alternatives with a range of indicators, including energy, carbon emissions, and private and public costs. Stands out the project Metropolitan Profile, developed for the World Bank and the RapidFire model adaptation to Mexico City in partnership with Calthorpe Analytics. He became partner at CAPSUS in 2016.

Tania Guerrero Urban Specialist

Tania Guerrero holds a Bachelor in Architecture and in 2009 she obtained a Master of Science degree in Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences from Delft University of Technology. She has worked both as architect and urban planner, at different firms in Mexico and the Netherlands. She worked as an urban consultant at Centro Mario Molina where she collaborated on several urban modeling studies in order to facilitate the decision making processes of urban policy, including: Metropolitan Profile for the World Bank, Housing Suitability tool for the Inter-American Development Bank and RapidFire model adaptation to Mexico City.

Karla HernandoInformation Designer

Karla Hernando has a background in Graphic Design and in 2007 she obtained a Master in Information Design, from Las Américas University in Puebla. She has worked as freelance artist and designer, specializing in communicating research subjects and outcomes to the general public through infographics and web design. She has worked on a number of projects that incorporate the environmental, energy and urban themes.

Carolina Altamirano Urban Specialist

Carolina Altamirano holds a Bachelor in Architecture, in 2013 she obtained a Master of Science degree in Urbanism from (Polytechnic University of Valencia) and in 2016 she obtained a Master in Housing an Sustainability from ITAM (Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico) and UPV (Polytechnic University of Madrid). She worked as a sustainability advisor in FOVISSSTE, a government institution where she contribute to generate the strategy so that FOVISSSTE generates its own sustainable housing criteria.

Ricardo García Environmental Engineering Specialist

Ricardo Garcia hold a title of Environmental Engineering, he has experience in sustainable development, climate change and energy efficiency; he has worked in public and private sector and non-governmental organizations. His last projects were focused in the evaluation of efficient technologies that helps to improve energy and environmental issues. César CastilloCivil engineering specialist

César Castillo has a background in Civil Engineering from the National Polytechnic Institute in Mexico. He has professional experience in the private sector, focusing on supervision and construction management. In the public sector he has experience on environmental issues, performing as a supervisor of environmental studies.

Daniela EviaSpecialist in Innovative Education

Daniela Evia Duarte holds a Bachelor in Art History and a Master in Innovative Education. She has taught history, philosophy and pedagogy, in several Mexican universities; she has also been academic coordinator at the School of Arts of Yucatan and the Mexican National Arts Centre. She designed and developed climate change educational programs and materials at Centro Mario Molina. She also edited science dissemination and institutional documents. For the last ten years she has designed and implemented several workshops, and training courses.
