The following rules apply throughout this Service Manual:

1. Each chapter contains sections explaining the purpose of specific functions and the relationship between electrical and mechanical systems with reference to the timing of operation.

In the diagrams, represents the path of mechanical drive; where a signal name accompanies the symbol, the arrow indicates the direction of the electric signal. The expression "turn on the power" means flipping on the power switch, closing the front door, and closing the delivery unit door, which results in supplying the machine with power.

2. In the digital circuits, '1' is used to indicate that the voltage level of a given signal is "High", while '0' is used to indicate "Low". (The voltage value, however, differs from circuit to circuit.) In addition, the asterisk (*) as in "DRMD*" indicates that the DRMD signal goes on when '0'.

In practically all cases, the internal mechanisms of a microprocessor cannot be checked in the field. Therefore, the operations of the microprocessors used in the machines are not discussed: they are explained in terms of from sensors to the input of the DC controller PCB and from the output of the DC controller PCB to the loads.

1.OutlineEjected paper from the host machine is aligned and stacked on the processing tray. Paper stack is then ejected on the stack tray. The paper stack is placed at the center in cross feeding direction.

2.DetailsOutline of operation

1)Ejected paper from the host machine is conveyed into the finisher.2)Before paper trailing edge passes by the entrance roller, the shift roller goes down to press

the paper. After the trailing edge passes by the entrance roller, the shift roller stops turning.3)The gripper opens and the shift roller reverses to transport the paper stack to the aligning

plate.4)The shift roller goes up to release the paper stack and the gripper closes to grip the stack.5)The a�ove steps repeat themselves up until the num�er of the paper on the processing

tray becomes 10 (1 for the envelope) or the operation complete signal is issued whichever comes first.

6)Gripper starts to eject the paper stack on the stack tray.7)Stack height detection lever moves up to evacuate itself and moves down again to detect

the stacking height when the stack ejection has completed.

Offset operation1.Outline

Stacking the ejected paper from the host machine onto the processing tray. Every paper stack consisting of 10sheets of paper is offset and ejected on the stack tray.

2.DetailsOutline of operation

1)1)through 5) are the same operation as "Non-sort".6)The shift roller moves to the center or rear-end position and align the paper stack to locate

Stacking the ejected paper from the host machine onto the processing tray. Stapling and ejecting the paper stack on the stack tray.

DetailsOffset roller should �e cleaned once a month to maintain the accuracy of the stacking alignment as foreign articles like dust are likely to stick to the roller.

Instruction1) With holding up the roller a little, rub off paper dusts, etc. by a moist cloth.

MEMO:If the optional tray is installed, it is easier to clean the rollers just after delivering a paper onto the optional tray since the optional tray gets descended lower than the rollers.

Version Upgrade Overview

A flash ROM is used for the IC101 (CPU) of the Finisher unit. To upgrade this IC, the downloader PCB (FY9-2034) is used. The operating instructions for it are given below.

The downloader PCB is used when upgrading the CPU (IC101) of the Finisher Controller PCB.

4.Download Procedures

CAUTION:

If any error occurs during downloading (for example, you forgot to press the Start key on the downloader PCB), delete the firmware registered in the service

support tool and then retry the procedure descri�ed in this document from the �eginning.

A.Registering ROM data1) Store ROM data to be downloaded in the "C:>ServTool>NewROM" folder.2) Start up the Service Support Tool.

The error code E500 might occur during download. It does not affect the download operation and its results.

OutlineUsing SW1 (push switch) and SW2 (DIP switch) on the finisher board, carry out a test operation (staple paper passing operation and aging operation).

DetailsThe stapler can be put into the desired operation mode by turning on the finisher after setting SW1 and SW2 to the necessary ON/OFF combination. Subsequently, determine the desired detailed mode by setting SW2-1 to SW2-4 to the necessary ON/OFF combination. Next, press SW1 for at least 2 seconds to finalize the detailed mode. Start and stop operation using SW1.

Installation Procedure


1) Hold the positions shown in the figure and take out the finisher from the carton. (Hold the positions specified by the instruction labels.)

2) Remove all the shipping tapes and cushions.

CAUTION: Uphold the following order when removing metal fixure and cushions fixing the stapler.

1) Remove 3 screws to detach the 2 fixtures. 2) Remove the upper cushion. 3) Remove the lower cushion.

3) Open the right door and remove 1 screw fixing the delivery assembly.

MEMO: Save the removed screw for later use.

4) Remove the 2 screws to detach the support cover. Release the 3 hooks to detach the support cover (Left). Cut out the upper part of left cover using side cutter.(Cut off part is no longer reused.)

5) Remove the 2nd delivery tray. (The 2nd delivery tray is no longer reused.) (This step is applicable only when the 2nd delivery tray is installed in the host machine.)

MEMO: Save the removed screw for later use.

MEMO: Bend the sensor flag shaft a little to remove it.

21) Set the supplied staple cartridge into the stapler.

1) Remove the 6 screws to detach the upper guide. (Stepped screw x 2, Binding screw x 4)

3) Lower the standard tray. *Hold the standard tray by hand and insert a screwdriver in the tray bottom hole for releasing the ratchet gear to have the tray down.

CAUTION : Be sure that the harness guide does not interfare the harness when lowering the standard tray.
