Can the teenagers of Israel and Palestine today recover from the violence they have faced all their lives?

The teenagers of Israel and Palestine today won’t be able to recover from the violence they have faced all their lives. This war, that has been causing various problems for Israelis and Palestinians, has started since 1940s in a small strip of land called Gaza. Although Israelis and Palestinians had set peace agreement for six months on June 19th, the conflict started again in 2008. The schools were destroyed and many teenagers died in Gaza. It will be difficult for the teenagers of Israel and Palestine today to survive easily from the violence and the war.

How teenagers think about Gaza conflict and how they survive in Israel and Gaza…

In Israel and Gaza, teenagers are wanting to change their lives somehow, but they do not know what they should do to achieve their goals. There are many reasons for why they don’t know what they should do. Some of them are because the teenagers in Israel and Gaza…

• cannot live with their families in peace• look at people dying or suffering

everyday• wake up in the morning listening to

the announcers saying how many people died last night

• feel stressful because of the conflict• are killed for no reason

How Palestinians are treated by Israelis… Many teenagers of Palestine were killed and injured by Israeli soldiers. But some teenagers of Palestine were

used as human shields for Israelis instead of being shot, which could be less insulting than to be used as human shields. Israelis treated Palestinian teenagers as their weapons to win the war.

Seven civilian teenagers of Palestine inhabiting in Gaza killed and injured by Israeli soldiers on April 14 th, 2008; Majority of these killed teenagers = eighteen-year old young adults in the refugee camps

Stories about Palestinian teenagers, Wadad Saba and Baha

Wadad Saba was an innocent fifteen-year old Palestinian teenager.

Wadad’s teachers sent to detention camps when she was seven years old

Wadad at great risk of being killed by Israeli soldiers in the school

Separated from her family members

Full of fear and anger

Wadad’s hometown, Palestine = the property of Israel

Wadad could never forget about

her childhood, how she had been treated by Israelis. This true story about a Christian Palestinian teenager, Wadad Saba, fully explained that during the Gaza conflict, numerous teenagers were strongly influenced by the war. So that it will be very difficult for Israeli/Palestinian teenagers to recover from the violence they have faced all their lives.

It has been very difficult for a sixteen-year old boy, Baha, to recover from violence of Gaza conflict between Israel and Palestine. Baha’s life was as miserable as other Palestinian teenagers’ lives. To maintain one’s life has been one of the most difficult task Baha had ever received in his life. This Palestinian teenager’s life has been strongly affected by the Gaza conflict.

In the basement of Gaza city, there lived Baha and his sixteen family members

A desire to stay alive and to maintain life explained by Baha during the conversation with Unicef

Drinking clean water desired by Baha because there was no existence of clean water in Gaza city

No more schools for Baha to be taught at because of bombs sent from Israel
