Bulletin  1    The  2017  Spirit  of  St.  Louis  FAI  F2A  World  Cup  is  an  international  model  airplane  competition  sanctioned  by  the  Federation  Aeronatique  Internationale  (FAI),  the  Academy  of  Model  Aeronautics  (AMA)  and  the  Aero  Club  of  Canada.      Organizers  The  contest  organizers  are  the  Lafayette  Esquadrille  Control  Line  Club  and  the  North  American  Speed  Society.    Classes  F2A  Control  Line  Speed  (Open  and  Junior  category).    Dates  October  7-­‐8,  2017    Location  Buder  Park,  Valley  Park,  Missouri,  USA    Event  Officials  Contest  Director:  John  Moll,  USA

Participants  Each  competitor  must  possess  an  FAI  Sporting  License,  valid  for  2017,  issued  by  their  NAC  and  be  recorded  on  the  FAI  Database.    Because  the  contest  is  sanctioned  by  the  AMA,  all  competitors  must  be  either  full  of  affiliate  members  of  the  AMA.  The  cost  of  affiliate  membership  is  36  USD  for  12  months,  the  participants  may  enroll  either  on-­‐site  or  prior  to  the  contest  by  filing  the  form  https://www.modelaircraft.org/files/902.pdf  Canadian  contestants  who  are  members  of  MAAC  are  not  required  to  have  the  AMA  membership.

Flying  Facility  The  flying  facility  is  located  at  the  address  265  Valley  Park  Road,  Valley  Park,  MO  63088,  USA  near  the  city  of  St.  Louis,  Missouri.  The  GPS  coordinates  are  38.542,  -­‐90.489.  The  facility  features  one  fully  caged  asphalt  flying  circle  with  a  speed  pylon  and  two  additional  hard  surface  flying  circles.  The  facility  can  be  available  for  practice  flying  prior  to  the  contest  (flying  times  to  be  coordinated  with  the  organizers).  Standard  FAI  F2A  fuel  will  be  provided  by  NASS  for  the  contest.

 Visas  Visas  are  required  to  enter  the  USA  for  most  visitors.  Visa  information  can  be  provided  by  your  nearest  American  Consulate  or  online  at  https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/visit.html    Letters  of  invitation  can  be  requested  from  the  organizers  at  [email protected]    Insurance  The  contest  is  sanctioned  by  the  Academy  of  Model  Aeronautics.  All  competitors  must  be  either  full  or  affiliate  members  of  the  AMA,  and  will  be  covered  by  the  AMA  group  insurance  during  the  event  for  personal  liability.  All  visitors  to  the  USA  should  provide  their  own  medical  and  travel  insurance.    Travel  and  Accommodation  The  St.  Louis  International  Airport  is  at  the  distance  of  about  25  miles  (30  min  driving  time).  Other  major  airport  hubs  include  Chicago,  IL  (5  hours  30  min  driving  time),  Cincinatti,  OH  (5  hours  30  min).  The  organizers  arranged  a  block  of  rooms  at  the  Pear  Tree  Inn  Fenton.  There  are  many  hotels  within  a  short  driving  distance  from  the  flying  field.    Contacts  Event  Director:  John  Moll  Phone:  +1-­‐314-­‐831-­‐4001.  NASS  Secretary:  Alexander  Valishev  Email:  [email protected]  Website:  www.clspeed.org
