Our mission here at the MVA is to support and connect current and former students in the Mays Business School who have served in our Nation’s Military. We hope to expand our reach by publishing this newsletter once a month, to provide information about upcoming events, and highlight the exceptional work our Veterans are doing around the World. ISSUE 6: SEPTEMBER 2018 Campus Update Howdy! The Fall 2018 semester has arrived. It’s been a busy couple of months here in College Station, and we are excited to tell you all about it. Throughout the summer, our 2 nd years worked hard at their internships, exceeding expectations and delighting employers. Many of them returned with offers in hand, but as you know, the job search never stops. In July, we welcomed the new FTMBA Class of 2020, and they are already hard at work. They have taken mid-term examinations in Analytics, Accounting, and Finance. Several students left this week for the Prospanica career fair in Wisconsin and will attend the NBMBAA career fair in Detroit at the end of the month. The fall also brings many exciting activities to campus, such as football games, intramural sports, MBAA events, and more. We endeavor to use this month’s issue of “The Sully” to update you on the 2 nd Years, introduce you to our new class, and highlight upcoming events. We hope you had a great summer and are excited for the upcoming semester! – The Sully Staff 2 nd Years Return Our 2 nd Years had a very productive and engaging summer. Many worked internships across the nation. Some traveled around the world, while others volunteered locally. One started a PhD at Texas A&M, and another co-authored a paper on Artificial Intelligence. Everyone made tangible impacts on their respective organizations and are ready to begin their final semester in the FTMBA program. Veteran Orientation 2018 On 12 July 2018, the Program Office held Veteran & Military Orientation for the 20 veterans in the FTMBA Class of 2020. The day was filled with tours and informative sessions on the resources and services available to veterans at Texas A&M University. The CMC held a resumè workshop to help the transitioning students translate their military service into civilian-friendly language. At lunch, the class hosted special guest, LTC Tyson Voelkel, President of the Texas A&M Foundation. The day concluded with a happy hour event at West End Elixir. A special thanks goes out to Jason Morgan, FTMBA Class of 2016, for driving up from Houston to meet with and mentor the members of the new class.
