ATHLETICS AND INTRAMURAL SPORTS
The Department of Athletics and Intramural
Programs offers competitive options for Fisk
University students through collegiate competition
and through intramural programs. Fisk fields teams
in the areas of Men’s and Women’s Basketball and
Tennis, and Women’s Softball and Volleyball
through competition in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). NAIA
competition in Track and Field and Soccer
will begin in 2011-2012.
The department provides the campus population
with a broad range of competitive sports. Through
Intramural Programs, students have the option to
participate in Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Flag
Football, Kickball, Dodge-ball and Tennis.
Tournaments for students and faculty also include
Basketball, Tennis, Soccer, and Weight Lifting.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT & LEADERSHIP
The Office of Career Development & Leadership is
responsible for developing internships as well as
employment opportunities to prepare students to
make successful career choices as well as for
federal work-study placement on and off campus.
Google, Royal Bank of Scotland, Goldman Sachs The
Tennessee General Assembly, Microsoft,
SunTrust Bank, The United States Department of Energy, Crystal Bridges Museum, Truman Medical
Center, Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health
Center, The United States Department of
Agriculture Division of Food and Nutrition and the
NAACP are among the corporate and community
partnerships that provided internship or
employment opportunities for Fisk Students.
We also collaborate with faculty on graduate school
placements with institutions such as Western
Michigan University, Howard University, Yale
University, Syracuse University, University of Louisville, Case Western Reserve University,
Meharry Medical College and Vanderbilt School of
Law among ninety-three graduate and professional
schools that have accepted Fisk students over the last
two years.
GREEK LIFE
Fisk University recognizes eight active National PanHellenic Council (NPHC) fraternities and sororities:
Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta SigmaTheta, Sigma Gamma Rho, Zeta Phi Beta, Omega Psi
Phi, Kappa Alpha Psi, and Phi Beta Sigma. The
University also recognizes Alpha Phi Omega
Fraternity and Phi Mu Alpha SinfoniaFraternity. Greek letter organizations offer community service, social, and educational
programs and events on campus.

ON CAMPUS HOUSING
At Fisk University, students are placed in the
residence halls based upon academic standing.
Freshman women reside in Jubilee Hall. Freshmanmen reside in New Livingstone Hall on the first
floor. Upper-class women are assigned to
Crosthwaite Hall and upper-class men are assigned
to the second or third floor of New Livingstone Hall.
For students who are new to Fisk University, it is
required that you complete either an on-campus
housing application, or an application to live off campus based upon your planned residential status.
These forms are available at www.fisk.edu. Once
you are admitted, you will receive a packet of
information which you should return quickly to
receive priority consideration for residence hall placement and for consideration of your roommate
request.

STUDENT DEVELOPMENT
AND PROGRAMS
The Office of Student Development and Programs
has supported the implementation of numerous
socio-educational, health and wellness, and
community service programs aimed at enhancing
the campus experience and supporting Fisk’s global
mission. Currently, there are sixty-four (64)
student-run organizations registered with the Office
of Student Development and Programs to include all
active Greek Letter Organizations, the Student
Government Association, Student Publications, TheStudent Election Commission, and the Student
Activities Board.
MEAL PLANS
All students who live on campus are required to
purchase a meal plan. The “19-T” meal plan offers 3
meals per day Monday - Friday and brunch and dinner
on Saturday and Sunday. Students can choose between
dining in the Spence Hall Cafeteria or in the Sub Shop in
the lower-level of Spence Hall.
Students who do not live on campus may purchase acommuter meal plan, and eat any meal any day of theweek. The University offers four commuter options:
the “25-T”, “50-T”, “75-T”, and “100-T” plans. These
meal plans may be refilled if they are used up, or they
can be carried over between semesters.
CAMPUS HEALTH CLINIC
The Fisk University campus health clinic provides
healthcare services to all Fisk students in good standingwith the University. The clinic, which was opened
through a partnership with Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Care Clinic (MWCHC) in theSpring Semester of 2010, is open on Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday of each week, from 10:00
a.m. until 2:00 p.m..
Services include acute and chronic care, annual physicalexams, vision and hearing screening and basic
laboratory testing. The clinic also provides family
planning services, and radiology testing includingregular X-rays, ultrasound and mammogram services.
Although pharmacy services are not provided onsite,Fisk students are offered maximum available discounts
