Latin’s sports camps share the philosophy of Latin’s athletics program, which looks to develop confident, enthusiastic, and disciplined athletes who use their full physical potential and learn the value of teamwork and the importance of sportsmanship.
We strive to develop leadership and ethical behavior in our athletes, while encouraging a life-long love for sports and fitness.
NEW Junior Triathlon camp Latin Aquatics Director and Certified USA Triathlon coach Danielle Carlson will lead campers in a week-long training for junior triathletes following the Chicago Triathlon’s(™) motto: “swim, ride, run and fun!” Athletes will learn foundational triathlon skills so they can successfully navigate between swimming, biking, and running on race day.
Lincoln Park Baseball Academy (LPBA), a Chicago-based organization focused on baseball instruction for boys and girls, will lead this camp at Latin. This camp will provide players with a camp experience that is safe, challenging, fun and educational.
3Point Athletics will lead Latin’s summer basketball camps. Campers can expect to increase their skill level with high quality instruction. Skills, techniques,
game strategy and conditioning all will be covered, and lay the groundwork for overall improvement. The one-week camps will emphasize the positive benefits of the sport: discipline, dedication, sportsmanship and fun.
Led by Latin coaches, Volleyball camp provides campers with excellent instruction in spiking, setting, blocking, passing and serving – the fundamental skills necessary to become a well-rounded volleyball player. Scrimmaging will be a major component, while campers focus on good sportsmanship and having fun.
If you’re looking for a great summer job or challenging career that’s in demand, the Red Cross Lifeguarding program is the place to start. Latin’s own Aquatics Director, Danielle Carlson, will teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies and prevent drownings and injuries.
Sports & Recreation Camps
Small class sizes allow for hands-on experiences alongside experienced Computer Science educators.
Computer science is a rich discipline that studies computers, including their principles, their impact on society, and how they may be used to create software to solve problems. The discipline focuses on computational thinking skills like problem-solving, algorithm development and analysis. Explore computer science through a variety of one-week offerings, from Maker Camp to Scratch Programming.

Camps
Camp Discovery (half-day for age 4), full-day Navigators (ages 4-5) and Voyagers (grades 1-2) introduce our youngest campers to day camp in a welcoming, fun way.
Camp Discovery is a half-day camp designed to introduce our youngest children to day camp through games, activities, special field trip days and much more! Led by counselors and early childhood educators, Camp Discovery is structured into group play, activities and outdoor games, all of which provide campers a chance to “discover” the fun of day camp! A 4:1 camper to staff ratio is maintained, allowing campers to explore, learn and grow in a group under the guidance of trained counselors. A mid-morning snack is provided.
Navigators campers ages 4 and 5 are grouped by age. Endless activities are the key to the success of our youngest full-day camps. Weekly in-house and local field trips are taken. The daily schedule is designed to appeal to the learning style and curiosity of the young camper, utilizing outdoor and indoor space for projects and games. A quiet time will also be provided for Navigators after their lunch break so that they can rejuvenate before the start of a fun afternoon! A 4:1 camper to staff ratio is maintained in each Navigator group.
Voyagers the program for campers entering 1st and 2nd grades. The days are filled with group games, creative arts, sports, and weekly field trips around Chicagoland. Activities are designed around fostering teamwork and building friendships. Swimming is a large part of the camp program, enjoying swim lessons four days a week. An 8:1 camper to staff ratio is maintained in each Voyager group.
Beginning Learn to Swim follows the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program. Navigators swim two days a week, while Voyagers swim four days a week. All new swimmers begin with Level I: Water Exploration, and progress into primary skills. Campers are grouped according to their skill level, and each group works with a swim instructor and a counselor in the water.
Adventurers (grades 3-4), Explorers (grades 5-6) and Camp Trekker (grades 5-8) offer fun, challenging and memorable experiences to our older campers.
Adventurers and Explorers activities may be mixed-ages depending on interest. Weekly field trips include jaunts around Chicagoland. Back by popular demand, Wednesday choice-day activities may include kayaking, capture-the-flag, paddleboarding, tie-dye and much more! Group and individually selected activities will give campers the chance to explore and challenge themselves. Campers are grouped by grade level, and activities may include children of varying ages depending on interest and ability. A maximum 10:1 camper to counselor ratio will be maintained in each group.
Camp Trekker is based at Latin School, but campers travel off-site daily, visiting favorite Chicago attractions and hidden city treasures. Campers will grow and develop their leadership and self-reliance skills through learning to plan and traverse Chicago using public transportation, walking and school buses. Special field trips and visits to pools and water parks are included.
