Camp Local! — Paul Wolff Campground in northern Kane CountyGeneral Information

Welcome to the Kane County Forest PreservesThank you for camping with the Forest Preserve District of Kane County. We’re glad you’re here!

Camp Site Registration & RulesPlease see the campground office for site registration and/or to purchase firewood until 9 p.m. Firewood can neither be brought in nor removed from the campgrounds due to state restrictions on the transport of firewood for pest control.

Registration is valid for up to seven days, with 14 days maximum in any 21-day period at each Forest Preserve District campground. Registration maximums are counted separately for each campground.

Each camp site requires one adult registrant. Registrants must be at least 21 years of age and remain on site for the duration of the camp permit. A camp unit may not be left unoccupied for more than 12 hours.

Swimming is not permitted. Alcohol is not permitted.

Please respect others’ camping experience. Quiet hours are between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.

We ask you to be mindful of the weather. In the case of a weather emergency, you may wish to evacuate the campground. In the event of an emergency, call 911.

Paul Wolff Campground is located within Burnidge Forest Preserve. The campground is 1.5 miles west of Randall Road in Elgin. More than 700 acres of rolling hills and woodlands contain:

• 89 improved camp sites with 50-amp service, water access, parking pad & fire ring (for vehicles or tents), including 5 ADA-accessible camp sites, available upon request

• 10 primitive sites (for tents only), including 2 ADA-accessible camp sites, available upon request

• 5 equestrian camp sites• 2 dump stations• 9 miles of trails including a 2.25-mile, multi-purpose

trail suitable for hiking, biking or equestrian use• Stocked fish ponds

The Forest Preserve District of Kane County gratefully acknowledges the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR). This trail/facility received funding assistance through the federally funded Recreational Trails Program (RTP), administered by IDNR.

Camp with a Ranger: Introduction to CampingHave you ever wanted to try camping but don’t have a tent or the experience to do so? Try it out with our “Camp with a Ranger: Introduction to Camping” program. Registration is $40 and is intended for one family or group of up to 6 people. The fee includes camp reservations for one night at either Forest Preserve District of Kane County campground, use of one 8-person tent, burner stove for cooking, and a lantern. Forest Preserve rangers will help you set-up camp and periodically check-in on your progress. Advance program registration is required. Call 630-232-1242 to register or for information on the Camp with a Ranger program.
