SUBJECT: BLUETOOTH AND VOICE RECOGNITION SOFTWARE UPDATE
(SERVICE CAMPAIGN TX5) This TSB supersedes TSB# 15-01-024 to include a troubleshooting guide and revises the Navigation update procedure. DESCRIPTION: This bulletin describes the procedure for updating the Bluetooth and Voice Recognition software for certain 2013 Model Year Navigation and Audio systems. This update expands phone compatibility, improves Bluetooth connection, improves voice recognition and fixes the transfer of an active phone call after 14 minutes and 59 seconds from the Radio to the handset (private mode).

Note: The Elantra [One Knob] and the Tucson (Non Navigation) uses the exact same procedures for updates. Example steps in this section will demonstrate only one of the systems but can be applied to both vehicles.

Elantra (One Knob)
1. Start the vehicle by using the key (B), or with the Start Stop Button (A).

To start the vehicle using the Start/Stop Button, depress the brake and push the Start/Stop Button (A) once.

2. After the vehicle has been started, insert the USB update stick into vehicle USB port (C) and allow the music on the USB to play for greater than four seconds.
3. Before checking the Software version, turn the radio OFF by pressing the power button (D) once.

With the radio OFF, press and hold preset button [1] and then preset button [4] at the same time for five seconds: preset 4 should be pressed quickly (0.5 sec) after preset 1.
Next release both buttons then tap preset button [1] four times. Before retrying any Engineering mode access, the radio must be cycled ON then OFF before the step is repeated.

5. If the current S/W version is not V4.00.USA or higher, end Tucson update procedure here. Software update is not possible.
6. After the compatible software version is verified, press preset button [1].

Next press preset button [4] Micom to start the update.
8. The update will take approximately 3
minutes.
Tucson update requires a minimum previous/current version V4.00 to start/complete the update. If the version is acceptable proceed to step (6).
NOTICE
If the audio unit does not turn off within 5 seconds of resetting, the update has failed. Retry update using steps from 4 to 6.

Do not interrupt the update while in progress. Any interruptions like ignition OFF or USB removal can result in the head unit being permanently disabled.

Sonata (YFa), Elantra (MD/UD/JK) [Two Knob] and Santa Fe Sport (AN) Non Navigation Bluetooth and Voice Recognition Software Update
Note: The Sonata (YFa), the Elantra (MD/UD/JK) [Two Knob] and the Santa Fe Sport (AN Non Navigation) uses the exact same procedures for updates. Example steps in this section will demonstrate only one of the systems but can be applied to both vehicles.
1. Sonata (YFa) Non Navigation Bluetooth and Voice Recognition Update.
2. Start the vehicle by using the key (B), or with the Start Stop Button (A).

If the VR_US version is 170013 or higher, do not attempt update. End update procedure here, head unit is already updated and does not require further updates. If VR_US version is lower [D], continue to the steps below.
6. With the engineering menu displayed, press the “SETUP” hard button [E] on the right side of the radio.
If the software version screen is displayed immediately when pressing and holding the preset buttons [1] and [4], restart the procedure from step (4).

11. The Radio will automatically reset and then turn off after the update is complete.
12. If the Update Failed message shown to the right is ever displayed during the update, the contents of the USB may have become damaged. Please contact Hyundai Tech-line for assistance. 1-800-325-6604
13. If the update was successful, the sample message shown to the right will be displayed.
14. After removing the USB update stick, confirm that the software is updated using step (4) above. Sonata (YFa). Main V1.25 BT: V6.8R VR_US_170013
If the audio unit does not turn off within 10 seconds of resetting, the update has failed. Retry update using steps from 4 to 9.

Phone does not pair after completing the software download. Delete the phone from the radio and the radio from the phone, and attempt to pair the phone ‘like new’. Some Android phones require a phone restart to clear the ‘paired’ history. Phone fails to pair? Solution: Radio requires a manual Bluetooth Update, see step (3) below. Bluetooth version does not match the “updated” software version pictured in the applicable step. Solution: Radio requires a manual Bluetooth Update, see steps (3) – (16).
3. With the radio OFF, press and hold preset button [1] and preset button [4] at the same time for five (5) seconds (Note: preset 4 should be pressed quickly (0.5 sec) after preset [1]. Next release both buttons and tap preset button [1] four times.

radio in the OFF state, insert the USB stick (F).
3. Before conducting the update, confirm the
current S/W version.
With the radio OFF, Press the ‘SEEK(▼)’
button and the ’HD/CAT FOLDER(▲)’button
for 2 seconds simultaneously then release
both buttons and then tap the ‘SEEK(▼)’
button 4 times.
4. If the VR DB is VR_US_170013 do not
attempt to update. No update is needed, end update procedures here. Continue to step (5) below if current version is below VR_US_170013.

6. Touch ‘▼’ soft key (H) on the display screen until “Firmware Update by USB” is displayed on the screen.

17. The update will take approximately 5-9 minutes. When complete, the red progress indicator will turn white. Navigation will not turn OFF after update is complete. To verify Bluetooh has been updated, you will need to turn the ignition OFF for 15 seconds then turn it back ON.
18. Repeat steps (12) – (15) to enter the Engineering Menu to verify that the Model RevisionEx: was updated to 3.32.42. Press the Back button (S) if the version was updated successfully.

If it was not updated to 3.32.42, turn the system off for 5 minutes and retry update steps (12) – (17).
