The closing speed of theDORMA TS 90 Impulse isadjustable in two independ-ent ranges at the valvesindicated.

With the DORMA TS 90Impulse, the closing force ispermanently set at EN 3.

Mechanical hold-open device

The hold-open device enablesdoors to be precisely heldwithout any fall-back up to an opening angle ofapprox. 145°.

The hold-open device is suitable for both LH and RHdoors and is designed forretrofitting to the slide channel.

Not for fire and smoke doors.

Cushioned limit stay

Cushioned limit stay forretrofitting by insertion inthe slide channel.Adjustable between 80° andmax. 120°.

Use of the cushioned limitstay helps to prevent a normally opened door fromcolliding with adjacentwalls.

The cushioned limit stay isnot an overload protectiondevice and in many cases isno substitute for a door stop.

The user-friendliness of thesystem is further enhanced bythe reliable latching action achieved by the fact that theclosing force only rises in theend phase of the cycle.

Slide channel

The DORMA G-N slide channel assembly comprisesthe main arm, slide channel, slide block, fixings,screws and end caps. TheDORMA G-N slide channel

is non-handed and can becombined with both doorclosers. Thanks to oblongholes in the fixing pads, it ispossible to compensate fordeviations in the drill hole

pattern and to keep the door closer body and slidechannel perfectly parallel.

The DORMA RF mechanicalhold-open unit ensures that doors are held open atprecisely the correct angle –up to approx. 150° – without any fallback.

The hold-open unit can beswitched on and off by the user as required, and the pull-off force can be adjusted to suit each individual door situation.

The DORMA RF hold-openunit is non-handed and can also be supplied forretrofitting to the slide channel at a later date.

Cushioned limit stay simplyslides into the slide channel.Adjustable between 80° andmax. 120°. Also suitable forretrofitting.

Fitting a cushioned limitstay prevents doors whichare opened normally fromimpacting against adjacentwalls.

The cushioned limit stay isnot an overload protectiondevice and in many applications will not be asuitable substitute for a door stop.

Standard mounting backplate with universalfixing hole systemThis mounting backplate withits universal hole system,including hole pattern tosupplementary sheet 1 ofDIN EN 1154 A, ensuresideal fixing whatever theconditions and irrespectiveof the door type. The fixinghole patterns are the same for both sizes of theDORMA TS 93. BackcheckThe backcheck feature ensures the safe decelerationand restraint of a door whichhas been flung open orcaught by a gust of wind.This effectively reduces the danger of the door andadjacent wall being damaged.

Delayed actionThe delayed action featureretards the closing cyclebetween 120° and 70°(approximate values for pull-side door leaf fixing). Theextra time allowed for passage through the doorwaycan be essential for peoplewith luggage or bulky items:mothers with prams, personnel with tea trolleys,post trolleys, hospital beds,etc.; and also for disabledpeople.

The DORMA G-N slide channel assembly incorpo-rates the slide arm, slidechannel, slide block, fixingadapters, screws and endcaps. The DORMA G-N slide channel assembly isnon-handed and can becombined with all door closermodels.

Thanks to oblong holes inthe fixing adapters, the slidechannel can be effectivelyadjusted to variations in the drill hole pattern whilekeeping the gap betweendoor closer body and slidechannel aligned and parallel.

The DORMA G-N has beensuccessfully type-tested toEN 1154 in conjunctionwith the DORMA TS 93.Certificates are available onrequest.

The DORMA RF hold-openunit enables doors to besecurely held without anyfall-back at precisely therequired position up to anopening angle of approx.150°. The hold-open func-tion can be easily switchedon and off by the user, and

the release force can beadjusted to the door typeconcerned. The DORMA RFmechanism is non-handedand has been specificallydesigned for retrofitting tothe G-N type standard slidechannel.

The suitability of the hold-open unit may be limitedwhere the closer unit isfixed to the door leaf on thepush side, in combinationwith outward-opening doors,and also in the case oflarge, heavy doors.

Not for fire and smoke doors.

Accessories for the DORMAG-N, RF slide channel:Cushioned limit stay forretrofitting to the slide channel. Adjustable between80° and max. 120°.

The cushioned limit stay prevents the door from hitting the adjacent wallwhen opened normally.

The cushioned limit stay is not a heavy-duty protective device and inmany applications cannotsubstitute for a door stop.

The DORMA G-EMR slidechannel assembly enables fireand smoke doors to be heldopen securely at precisely theangle required, and monitoredand controlled completely in-dependently of other systems.The hold-open point can beadjusted to opening anglesbetween approx. 80° and 120°.

Data and features RMZ RMThe DORMA RMZ andDORMA RM smoke detectorsprovide the ideal comple-ment to the successful, ser-vice-proven DORMA TS 93range in preventive fire protection environments.They are designed in accor-dance with the latest codes

issued by the GermanInstitute for BuildingTechnology and ensure perfect interaction betweenall the devices employed forholding open fire and smokecheck doors – whatever thesituation.

The DORMA RMZ smokedetector provides a 24 V DCsupply for all the hold-opendevices connected to it. In the event of an alarm orpower failure, it de-energisesthe devices (release function).It has an automatic reset,which can be switched tomanual reset if required. A floating (volt-free) change-over contact and connec-tions for further detectors

and external manual releasedevices are also provided.The smoke detector is avai-lable in the RMZ versionwith stabilised power packor in the RMZ DCW versionwithout a power pack forintegration in buildingmanagement and controlsystems via a DCW bus and the DORMA TMS doormanagement system.

The DORMA RM smokedetector is designed as asmoke switch and actuates afloating (volt-free) change-over contact in the event ofan alarm or power failure. Itis also suitable as an add-onsmoke detector for the

DORMA TS 93 EMR andRMZ.A floating (volt-free) change-over contact and connec-tions for further detectorsand external manual releasedevices are also provided.

Hold-open systems Regulations/Information

The use of hold-open devicesmay be subject to certainconditions. These usuallydeal particularly with therelevant acceptance, routineinspection and maintenancerequirements.

The information given onthis page is designed toinform all relevant personsof the most important measures to be implementedin order to ensure best practice governing the oper-ation of hold-open systems.

1.1 In respect of doors etc.which are held open byhold-open systems, the areaneeded for closure must bekept permanently free ofobstructions. This areashould be clearly indicatedby means of lettering, floor markings or similar. If necessary, structural measures may need to betaken in order to ensure thatwiring/ducting, stored goods

or structural components(e.g. false ceilings or othercomponents) do not falldown into the area to bekept clear.

1.2 As far as possible,smoke detectors should beused for hold-open systems.Smoke detectors should beused for hold-open systemsfor doors etc. in emergencyexits and escape routes.

1.3 All hold-open devicesshould be able to be releasedmanually without their operational readiness beingadversely affected. Door closers with electro-magnetichold-open systems can bereleased by pressing lightlyon the door leaf. If hold-open magnets or free-swingdoor closers are used, therelease function is triggeredby pressing a switch. The

switch must be located inthe immediate proximity ofthe door and must not becovered when the door isheld open.

2.1 After the system hasbeen fitted ready for use on-site, it should be commissioned to check thatits operation is problem-freeand that its installationcomplies with all relevantregulations. The commission-

ing should only be performedby qualified technical personnel.

3.1 The operator shouldkeep the hold-open systemin a permanently fit state for use and must inspect itat least once a month toensure its functional integrity.

3.2 In addition, it is the responsibility of the operatorto ensure that all devices arechecked and maintained/serviced to ensure their combined functional integrity,this to be performed at leastonce a year, unless a shorter

time period is stipulated inthe national regulations. Thisinspection and servicingactivity should only be carried out by a specialist orsuitably qualified person.

3.3 The scope, result and time of the routine inspections should be recorded, and these recordsshould be retained by theoperator.

The functions of the DORMATS 97 can be individuallyadjusted to each door situa-tion and matched to varyingrequirements.The closer speed of theDORMA TS 97 can beinfinitely adjusted by meansof a valve, and there is asecond valve for adjustingthe latching action. The closing force is adjust-able between EN 2 and 4 bymeans of a screw.

The integral dead stop unitof the DORMA TS 97 fea-tures progressive dampingand helps to prevent a nor-mally opened door from col-liding with the adjacentwall. It can be adjusted toan opening angle between80° and max. 120°.The dead stop unit is not anoverload protection deviceand in many cases is nosubstitute for a door stop.

The mechanical hold-opendevice enables doors to beheld without fallback at anopening angle up to approx.120°.The hold-open device issuitable for both LH and RHdoors and is designed forretrofitting into the slidechannel.

The closing speed of theDORMA TS72 VBC isvariable in two independentranges by separate valves.

In addition, the latchingaction can be adjusted atthe closer arm.

Thanks to an innovativedesign concept, the resistancedeveloped by this backchecksystem is directly proportionalto door acceleration as thedoor is opened beyond approx.70°. It is almostimperceptible when the dooris opened slowly. However, ifthe door is opened roughly,the backcheck responds inequal measure.

And if the door should beflung open at speed – whetherdeliberately, thoughtlessly,accidentally or as a result of agust of wind – the backcheckreacts at full strength,protecting the wall and doorfrom damage.

If backcheck function isrequired, the system cansimply be switched on.

If the DORMA TS72 VBC isinstalled with a hold-openarm, the doors can be heldopen at any desired point(up to approx. 150°).

Hold-open arms are notapproved for Fire Doors.

With “thinking” backcheck –

The closing force (size)setting for the door widthconcerned is variable at theadjustment screw located at the end face of the TS72 VBC closer body.

Thanks to an innovativedesign concept, the resistance developed by thisbackcheck system as thedoor is opened beyondapprox. 70° is directly proportional to door acceleration.It is almost imperceptiblewhen the door is opened slowly. Standard functions

Thanks to an innovativedesign concept, the resistance developed by thisbackcheck system is directlyproportional to door accele-ration as the door is openedbeyond approx. 70°. It isalmost imperceptible whenthe door is opened slowly.However, if the door is open-ed roughly, the backcheckresponds in equal measure.

And if the door should beflung open at speed –whether deliberately,thoughtlessly, accidentally oras a result of a gust of wind– the backcheck reacts atfull strength, protecting thewall and door from damage.

If no backcheck function is required, the system cansimply be switched off.
